So first of all I watched the first series before which I found it both very enjoyable and shocking at the same time because I don’t really know what kind of series this was or what to expect while I was watching it for the first time. I also know that the first series is original anime material whereas this new spinoff tv series is adapted from a manga which is spinoff of first series.

With madoka label on it, yes I know this is gonna be dark series. But here’s my question to the people who read the manga beforehand: Will this spinoff series have the same level of twist and shock factor which is found in first series? Or will this series able to add anything to the already shocking first series?

No spoilers please...

It's not as "shocking" as the original.
Also it's based on a game, which also has a manga adaptation.

I didn't read the manga but i play the game, they may have some differences here and there but i'll try to answer.

The story is quite less dark but still has its "oh shit moments", still, i don't think it's on the same level as the original on that regard.

Now comes something that may change that... this anime adaptation is being directed by a person who stated he didn't like some of the story chapters in the game and he is a huge fan of the OG series, so perhaps there can be changes being made down the line that bring a more dark tone to the story.

In my opinion, the first episode already had a more og vibe than the game did on its introduction.

The shock you have can probably be caused by plot twists or other factors like we had in Rebellion. However, it is obviously not going to be the same surprise that the original story had in its first episodes.
Also, this is an adaptation of the game, as far as I know, manga is also derived from the game, but not that this information matters much.

It's going to be different for sure but I doubt they'd go as far with the changes as to killing off characters or anything like that.

Excuse me for being off topic here.
I want to know, is it okay to watch this spin-off if I haven't watched any from the original series yet?
I just realized that all of my favorite characters, beside being stunningly beautiful, also happen to be exceptionally skilled murder machines. \('-')/

so far.... not at all
1. There are explaination of what magical girl and witch are but there are so many many element that they don't explain and expected you to know beforehand like what is Grief Seed, Witch Kiss, or even what the hell is Witch thing. You will certainly lost the story.
2. This would likely to spoil major plot twist of original series, which are masterpiece and trust me, serious madoka fan, that anime still stand the time despite being 9 years old now. It's look much better than most of anime this year so don't afriad to watch original show.

there are 12 episodes TV series, 2 recap movies, and 3rd Rebellion movie which is direct sequal. I don't play Magia Record game but as far as I know spin-off would spoil original TV series but not sure it's relation with Rebellion movie

It will definitely spoil the main series for you, go and watch the main before you even get into Magia Record.

It wouldn't spoil Rebellion, but The Big Twist definitely does come up in the game, though the presentation is substantially different.

@boatktt, @salarx Thanks guys for the responds. I'm a big fan of psychological/mystery series, so I'd surely look into it.
