We know that every fluctlight is attached to a real person and that its the way to read the individual soul's sort of.

My questions are:

1) are most if not all babies?
2) are they all in that huge facility where kirito is currently?
3) What happens with birth, does it have the power to actually produce a pure soul without a physical body?
4) Am I completely misunderstanding it all or what lol?

I just can't seem to believe that they actually have thousand of babies, women, man, etc all in that facility or else where connected... It's a crime in itself...

4. No babies or humans besides Kirito are being used.

But don't worry about everything.

Let's put SAO aside a bit and see what is behind this plot: It is another story recurring to "Techno-magic".

It is not a big deal, Marvel's Iron Man is all about this too, and lots of Scifi and heroes shows.

Abstract the mumbo-jumbo. what matter is: STL/Fluctlight people are alive like us. It goes beyond AI, cause they have "soul", even being digital data.

And then we can understand Kirito's motivation and why the current season is all about NPC killing NPC and we must care about them.

I think your misunderstanding . Kirto and Asuna and the other people that entered the underworld are the only ones with a body in the real world

No, the only people from the real world are Kirito, Asuna, Gabriel and Vassago. The rest are artificial fluctlights created from generations of the fluctlights of the first Rath members that entered the underworld and were the first members of that place, which then in hundreds and hundreds of years the artificial fluclights were formed via reproduction from the generations that was born from the fluclight of rath members.

@nemesis16 Thanks.

That's really interesting, I don't remember which episode, but I do remember some episode talking about some Rath members participating in the experiment(back in the first part of alicization I think when Asuna showed up or around that). What surprises me is the fact they can produce and store pure souls out of it.

My understanding of all this was that they needed that machine in order to access the fluctlight, which is why I was bound to those questions I guess.

Yes, all of those rath members were on the STL. Then with their fluclights they had reproduction inside it, and then the clusters formed the artificial fluctlights with their characteristics.
