knock down the animation?
Have you even read it? shit looks even worse.
Compared to its early 2000 counterpart the anime looks great.
I am hopeful that this gets a couple of seasons in and I don't like a lot of shoujo.

Also thanks to Lavendar and Bokutachi for starting the translation and TLTL/Yangband for continuing the work.

I love Tamura's art style so I never had a problem with it, and I like shoujo so I guess I'm used to this kind of art.

The characters animation looks bad and really stiff... I don't want to judge it just by the trailer, I hope when a watch an episode I change my mind, but at the moment not a fan of the animation.

From the PV the eyes in particular look quite awful and dead. Well maybe not awful but really fucking basic anime eyes #36028421.

Which wouldn't necessarily matter but Tamura's facial art style is like no other. All her characters tend to express everything from their eyes alone.
If you're not going to capture this intensity then right off the bat it's not going to give a good impression for those of us who have seen these characters through her art.
You've read the manga you should know what i'm talking about.

Now for the rest of the body I will side with the anime because that's where the manga's art tends to drift off into the more flowy, abstract side of things in comparison to the faces. The anime's visuals here work because it actually polishes off the characters.

EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT:
Oh geez, in that longer trailer the animation looks choppy. Some of those running scenes are like chop chop choppity chop all through the forest. How unfortunate.
The characters are quite ugly as well lol. There was one Aramaki scene where I recoiled a bit from the ugly.

I got a really scary vibe reading the manga and I don’t get that vibe seeing this trailer. And I see things in the triler that happens way later in the manga. Netflix out to kill anime again :(. I hope they don’t get rid of a lot of important stories and that it has that eerie feeling.

This is entirely Gonzo's fault, not Netflix's

Considering there are "ugly" anime out that are highly praised you're an idiot, even more so because i was actually talking about the manga that came out 2001.

Netflix as the producer has the final say, they are trying to propagandize anime. They just put a tranny in EVA for literally no reason. Don't kid yourself. This is a deliberate move by them in order to further advance their political goals and turn all men into impotent debt slaves or homosexuals.

Since this is one of the 2 forum post might as well post it here.
Why is this labeled as shoujo? Isn't this a josei?

Don't mean to be harsh or anything just wanted some clarification.
I have shit taste, and I'm proud of it

the first few volumes of the manga were serialized in Bessatsu, a shoujo magazine, and mal database presumably prioritizes the initial publisher
you can propose a change in the anime/manga db forum stickies i guess

I honesty have no idea where you could find the previous entry as anime. What's it called?

Animation wise it's OK I guess. I've seen worse. The only thing that's really bad is that the author of the story clearly didn't do his her research first. Sure, I have to consider the Sci-Fi part, but as a paleontologist shit really doesn't makes sense at all! Wildlife really can't adapt, mutate and evolve that that fast and since human structures are still somewhat there, we're talking only about couple hunderd of years after the disaster.

I guess someone (in this case th author) really didn't see the documontairies Life after People and such and have a basic knownledge about how evolution works. The whole cryonics thing I will look through my fingers, but it's really is a huge shame the author really messed up everything else.

Couldnt agree more. the animation is a mess , but hell god the artsyle in the manga was simply indigestible. And the typical shoujo cramped panelling didnt help that much.

Yeah, I don't see anything wrong with the art, but that's probably because I watch a ton of old school anime, so most art looks good to me now.

Heads up... "X is even uglier!" is a weak argument that something isn't ugly.

Byt the seven hells of of animation and art.
WTF is up with the character art style and animation.

You can see the face get displaced several times during each episode when they animate it on different characters.
Hair is not aligned when moving perspective or head.
Proportions are of.
THEY STILL HAVE THE BLACK LINES ONE SOME BODIES.

I feel like im looking at a 14 year old girls shoujou art project being animated and it's a thing of nightmares.
.
.
.
so now is the question where did they outsource the background stuff cause that looks good. even background characters and crowds look better drawn...

I read the manga, I didn't think that's too awful like you all say, really loved the manga

I have didn't any problem with the evolution things, I am not a biologist and for me it's ok

The animation I think that's worse, they didn't follow the manga exactly, changing the order of the facts, because of this, the story loses quality

The perspective is like shoujo manga, yes it is, but what's the problem? There a lot of shounens and nobody said a thing! I don't like the shounen's world perspective, but it doesn't mean that the anime is awful

My opinion is: I love the manga, the characters, the story, everthing
It even won a contest, the "2007 Shogakukan Manga Award"

However, the animation, I really don't like
For me, the manga is so much better than the anime

I am decepcioned with Netflix, Gonzo etc, beacause it could a really excellent anime

The art and the plot points in the manga already kinda sucks. No offense, but it took an anime adaptation for people realize that. I think they try to bring some of the art with something more "new" but still nothing really impressive. Overall average at least.
