It’s usually around half a year after release I heard but it can come count earlier because of how popular Code Geass is. No concrete date for now

Is there a particular reason is takes so damn long for anime movies to go to to DVD? Obviously we as people in foreign countries who have no other way to watch it want it to be released, but even as for the Japanese consumers isn't there demand for this stuff to be released earlier? Or do they have a way to stream these movies? Or do they screen for months and months in Japanese theaters so they don't care if it's released on DVD? Because these theater release to DVD release wait periods are crazy long and just getting longer.

The process is probably more complex now. Almost all releases contain international marketing concerns and feature international subtitles at least for Asian countries. Also now that anime is international, there is certainly some negotiations going on with distributors coordinating their release timings, screenings, terms, etc., in terms of US/EU releases etc. You aren't just releasing for the domestic market anymore. Not to mention HD audio/video is a different game and the mastering process might take longer than the olden days.

It's past December 5 now. I think it'll take quite a while to get the subs prepared for most anime websites.
