Talent management firm 81 Produce reported on Monday that voice actor Kiyoshi Kawakubo died on April 16. He was 89. The agency did not specify the cause of death. The funeral has already been held by his family members.

Kawakubo was born in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1929. Some of his voice roles include Guame from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Kevin Yeegar from D.Gray-man, and Seiji Ishimoto from the currently airing Detective Conan.

He also featured in Japanese dubs of animated and live-action Western films such as Disney's Robin Hood and The Aristocats, and the James Bond films A View to a Kill and Casino Royale.

It feels like every week a popular seiyuu, mangaka or anime director is passing away recently. Rest in Peace Kawakubo.

I know right, I really hope this comes to an end with this.

Rest in Peace and thank you for that you’ve done!
