Depends on whether the studio believes that they can make enough revenue from a second season. The show didn't have that great of a reception in Japan as it did in other Western countries and the Japanese anime fans are their target demographic.

For the materials, they have plenty.
The problem is from the studio and how much income it gets from the first season which determine the chance for the sequel.
I honestly really want to see time-skip chapters being animated...

nowadays, most anime are made to help sell the source like the manga. also the anime wasnt that popular in japan and the BD sold less than 1k.

That's unfortunate. I kinda enjoyed it. But can't help with BD sales... Really unfortunate. Guess have to read the manga now.

What a letdown. Well with all the sequel anime releasing recently, maybe there is some hope, I'll probably check out the manga soon tho

I enjoyed it enough that I think it should get a second season and some anime I never thought would get a second season have for ex classroom of the elite so maybe a second season might happen someday. Though I would want a grand blue second season first.
