Making something which survives comparison with the Daichi part-adaption will be tricky.

I'm so so so happy. ❀
The 2001 anime was one of my first and it's still one of my favorites.
I always wanted the rest of the story to be told, especially since the anime only covered maybe a 3rd of it.

Maybe you'll not need to since (in my opinion) its most likely a remake that will adapt the whole thing.
From what i've heard (and read) the anime deviated a lot and the mangaka hated the anime.

Love old anime, love manga, can't wait.

I'm so afraid they're gonna change seiyuu though, I can't imagine Tohru without Yui Horie and Kyo without Tomokazu Seki ;_; We'll see how it turns out, I guess.

Oh well. Okay I guess. I didn't know people still care about that franchise in these years. What's next? A love Hina remake?

I'm not negative toward this new, I'm just left indifferent about that.

I've never watched Fruits Basket and I never will. However, I am happy that the people in Japan are starting to think sense now. We want sequels of previous anime, not terrible twelve-episode adaption of this week's Isekai. I am so glad that they are doing this.

Now if the industry would do this with other shows such as Irresponsible Captain Tylor I sell a kidney.

I watched it when I was young and I readed the whole story, but just like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Sailor Moon Crystal, Fruits Basket will get an anime series of the whole storyπŸ˜†πŸ˜πŸ˜„

Heh, I guess I'm the only one who's kind of meh about another anime adaptation. ;p I loved the original series (in fact, was just listening to the soundtrack, which was was brought me here; I wanted to see if anyone was still talking about the series) and thought it ended perfectly. There was no definitive "who's Tohru going to end up with," or the curse miraculously disappearing, just a promise of better days to come for everyone, including Akito. It was the rare open ending done well, and I kind of hoped they would never adapt the rest.

I was curious enough about the rest of the series to read a summary of the manga online, and I disliked what I found enough to never want to read it or see it adapted. Also disliked the reveal about what the curse was and how it was lifted, it kind of cheapened the series for me. I preferred how the anime treated it more as a MacGuffin that led the characters to evaluate themselves, their actions, and their lives.

It's great that everyone else here is excited, though. I just won't be watching it myself :)

Huh, you should just read the manga then instead. I don't know why you people don't do that.

One of the most misinformed posts that I saw on this site. Most of the Isekais are adapted because the original publisher wants them to be promoted to a new public. When Kadokawa have 5 publishers on the market with 70% of the Light Novel industry, you'll have many of their property including Isekai being adapted since many of those are new works and animes are made by companies to promote their original materials, which is the case here when the Kadokawa group is huge. The anime industry don't exist for it's majority, the companies that funds the creation of anime are bigger companies of other industries on the market including manga, advertisement, music and others and with different companies in each anime by committee. Anyway, you just don't have any idea what you're talking about.

So you're the type of person to take a joke seriously...

I did not comment at all about why so many isekai's are adapted and your point seems pretty fair. I'm just complaining about the abundance of isekai when not many people want to see them... At least not here. I don't understand why you needed to tell me all that information and accuse me of being misinformed.

Info came out. Based on this interview, it sounds like they ARE adapting the entire thing (why wouldnt they lol). The author wanted an ENITRELY new group of people. Sadly, this means seiyuu too. However, I think they chose well!!

"you people" indeed.
I read the manga right after I finished the anime for the first time back in 07, sonny.
I've reread it 5 times. Maybe it's alright for some people to never see their favorite manga fully animated, but I'm a huge animation fan so I'm happy as can be about it. ;b

Finished remake just now. I liked the original anime better.
