It had been quickly that the quiet inspection had been interrupted. Not that the inspection had yielded much other then the fact that the rabbit was facing the group but not looking at them. A nervous glance from one of the Caroleans was cast into the forest, searching for what it was that the rabbit was looking for. What could it have been studying, other then the group that was here in front of them? The answer did not take long. Blood spattered the group, whether it was of the rabbit or of someone else it did not matter, as a loud noise like a machine gun echoed around them and then headed deeper into the forest, leaving claw marks on the trees and blood spatters all around the ground. Whatever the creature was it was fast indeed. Carolus was the first to break out of the shock and stride up to the stump to inspect the claw marks, Chu and the Caroleans watching behind him. It had been so fast that none of them had even seen the creature, an unholy beast if Chu had ever seen one. Yet, it had not attacked the SOULs of the group, instead choosing to go after the rabbit.
Carolus, who had been crouching to inspect the claw marks on the stump, turned around and faced the rest of the men. Chu and Carolus's eyes met. "That was no calamity seed, to be certain, else we would have been attacked by now." Chu nodded in response. "I had been thinking the same thing. What's our next move then?" Carolus scoffed and looked down the trail, drawing his sword and indicating the obvious path. "Why, we play the role of kind guests, and follow the path that our host has so graciously set for us." The men, who had been disheartened at the previous attack that had been so fast they had not been able to see it, took heart at the impetuous display of confidence, and straightened up. Carolus said no more and advanced upon the path set for them, with Chu and the Caroleans following.
A path that lead them deeper into the forest, leaving the area.
