SPOTLIGHT  Small Quiz for everyone who has seen this anime ?.....1.....2......3....Ding Ding Ding. There are normally 3 answers when I show people this gif. 1) "Hey it's Seirei no Moribito." 2) "Hey thats Seirei no Moribito I have it in my Plan to Watch list. " 3) " Hey I don't know that show, but it really looks cool." Introduction Hello everyone, after yesterdays announcement for the PRC, I wanted to show you something entirly new for this club. This is a feature I thought of quite a while ago and now I am bringing it to AG. A feature designed for those that are on the 2s and 3s for a lot of shows that are on MAL. Which aren't highly regarded as the likes of Neon Genesis Evangelion or Cowboy Bebop or where the hot stuff two seasons ago like Violet Evergarden or Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho. This is a feature for those anime you call "Hidden Gems". The old ones like Rose of Versailles or movies like Barfoot Gen that are still regarded highly by their small audiences. Shows of the early 2000s that were stuck between mean scores of 7-8 and because of that got completly forgotten, shows that were too obscure to pick up like Kaiba, Mononoke or Gankotsuou or even shows of today that got overshadowed during the seasons that they aired in like Hakumei to Mikochi or Flip Flappers. What is this project ? I talked a lot about certain things I want to do with this project, but how does it work? In short what we have here is a Group Watching Project. For the group watch we will use Caracal. The link to the room is provided minutes before the event. You don't need to have an account on the site to join the watches. What if Caracal isn't available? As sometimes might happen that all Caracal's rooms are in use, we have CyTube as a second choice. This website needs you to have an extension, depending on the browser you're using. So please, take some minutes to read @Akuma-chi 's explanation about it on this post to get it working. CyTube events are held on this room. You will be asked to type a password, which is "Spotlight". During the Group Watches text chat will be enabled, and for those who prefer Voice Chat during group watches, we have a voice channel on our Discord server dedicated for group watches. To join the AG Discord server, you can head along to this thread to sign up for an invite! Spotlight scheduling and operation The dates for those Group Watches will be the 2nd and 4th weekend of each month. Note: they might be changed to the following week if Discord's Seasonal Voice Chats are happening. Also, The Clash' Spotlights will probably have special dates. During the Group Watches a total of 3 Episodes will be watched (so around 1 hour of anime). However for movies they will be watched as a whole (so around 1-2 hours) One of the most unique thing about these group watches is that the anime that will be watched will be picked randomly from the lists that you will find in this post. This means no popularity bias. This ride is meant as an adventure into uncharted territory after all. The second unique thing about this will be that for each new Group watch a new show will be watched. For example: on the 7th of October: Mononoke 21st of October : Golgo 13 4th of November: Perfect Blue The randomizer will pick two new shows for the next month right after the Group Watch on the 4th Sunday of the current month live. Additional Features: To support Spotlight we have a few additional things. 1) A Discord Channel on AG's Discord Server for exchanging opinions, more casual talk and also to set up smaller group watches if you like. ^^ 2) To make Spotlight as accessible to as many people as possible there will be two Group Watches. One hosted by @Mamamama99 and one hosted by @MisaoAino (Note: Please, read "Time Availability Survey" for more info). On Mondays before the events a post will go up in the forums with a set of time windows. On Fridays before the Group Watch the voting will be closed and via majority vote a time will be chosen) Note: You can choose multiple times for example "from 1PM-till 4PM(EST)" and even if you do not vote you can still join if you like and the time that is chosen fits you. (Voting for a time is not mandatory ofc. if you want to skip a Group Watch, however if you do vote you also should show up if your time is picked ^^) 3) Free Hugs xD (which will be given by @BlueSkylark @MisaoAino is better is giving good motherly :smirk: hugs) Time Availability Survey: This little survey will help us to offer the most suitable times for everyone who is part of this feature. It is short and simple ^.^ You can even suggest us new ideas! :D Sign Up: This is mostly a formality to see how many people have interest in the project. ^^' It is not required to join the Group Watches. I reroll it. ^^ Oh and if you want to know, how I picked up the anime on the list. I basically did something similar to the brothers Grimm. I went around asked people about there Hidden Gems and collected them. I also checked a few lists of more known credible reviewers. And yeah it was a joint effort of Sean and me, which took us quite a while. Biggest criteria for anime was I think that the shows in question needed to be below the Top #350 in terms of popularity. With movies I was a bit more open, cause I had less there in the first place. ^^' |
