Located just inside Greater Oakland. This towering structure comprises the headquarters of the Policing Department with jurisdiction of all of California. The design itself is rather straightforward. Black rectangular shape that juts into the sky and breaks the horizon from all angles. The base stretches for a total of ten city blocks, or around 50,000 square feet making it near the largest building in the city. At a little over 300 stories, the structure is without a doubt the tallest. N O T A B L E L O C A T I O N S Check-In Besides being a second home for the men and women who have sworn protection over the state, and to those who wish to disrupt it, the PDC Headquarters also doubles as a hub for information exchange. This information usually arrives by way of traffic through the levels designated "Check-in". State law requires all private vessels entering and exiting the state to a mandatory screening. Although this can be completed at any of the various PDC Hubs across California, time for processing is quickest at HQ. Holding Below ground level. The further one descends, the more dangerous the criminals being held there are. The nature of prison's design makes escape virtually impossible, not to mention it's situated directly below PDC HQ. The first few floors are for temporary holds lasting a handful of days at most. Everything after is more prolonged approaching permanence. Office of the Chief Of Police Near the top floor. Overlooks an expanse of the Greater Oakland area. N O T A B L E N P C S Although the youngest to make Chief of Police, Lorelei is no less fierce than her predecessors, if not more so. She takes her job seriously and expects the people under her command to do the same. With a strong moral compass and a strong sense for who Previous experience includes military time served during the uprisings on Mars and the third Cold War before that. Violet Night Down on one of the of laboratory floors, Violet had been running evidence through some of the equipment. Being there for awhile she had grown accustomed to unusual smell of chemicals mixed with remains from crime scenes from outside the city and a hint of musty scent being in a room with no windows and little air flow. Violet had been laying out evidence for one of the cases on a white table with light shining through it from the bottom. Allowing the machine to start from one end of the table using lasers to scan in every detail of each piece into the database before she took sections of them to test chemically. Scanning everything took a bit of time so meanwhile she stared at the monitor screen through the data and images for anything notable. On the table in front of her were articles of children’s clothing, dirty and in tatters, as well as a variety of small bones associated with the wrist and hands. Meanwhile in the room a few of the lab technicians were running in and out of this lab and others constantly checking on all of the tests and reactions they were running. Other than their movement and the humming of the machines as they ran the room was rather still. Being there for quite awhile already staring at the screen, Violet could feel her eyes straining to continue on as they became tired of skimming through images being taken. She sighed as she looked away from the monitor and pinching the bridge of her nose to release some of the built up stress in her forehead. Knowing that this was going to be a rather long night or analyzing she sat down in a chair leaning back in to anc closing her eyes just listening to the busy noise of the machines. As she listened she could hear footsteps approach her and stop on the other side of the table in front of her. Opening her eyes, Violet found one of the lab technicians standing in front of her looking rather timid for a moment. ”Can I help you with something?” Violet asked seeing as the tech stood there for a moment in in silence in front of her. ”Umm…. I know you’re busy right now with this….. But they found some new evidence from a case that may be related and they’re…. Ah…… sending it down for you…” She replied rather nervously, twiddling her fingers together as she spoke. ”Of course they find more while I’m down here. I assume it’s already on its way here so no point in arguing about it. When it gets here just set it down on the table out in the hall by the door. I’ll get to it eventually.” Violet replied with a sigh. The tech nodded her head once and scurried out while Violet spun her chair not wanting to scan more data in the database. Of course more evidence for these exact cases show up while I’m the one down here. She thought as she started back up looking through the images taken. Zooming in and out scanning through it all she could feel the oncoming of migraine knowing that she would be kept busy in the lab unless something else came up that required her. |

A blinking light and a subtle alarm; a high pitched "blip" that sounded twice before a small semi-transparent, floating window took over a corner of Violet's monitor. A face appeared. Dark, clean shaven with a high top cut. Pearly whites between lids and lips. A strong jaw bone to frame a rather thin face. There was a gold stud in the left ear that blinked at an odd pattern it didn't look entirely cosmetic. The small grey text next to his face identified him as "Cam". A fellow "first year" at the PDC and having ranked just below her in their standardized testing. However, unlike Violet, he still had to prove he belonged. His peer seemed to have been ushered in and though there was plenty dissent in regards to how'd she managed to climb to her position so quickly, Cam was one of the few who didn't let it get to him. He was just happy to have been given the chance to grow next to her. "Violet. They want you upstairs. Well... she wants you. Not sure why." The image showed Cam moving as he talked, picking his way through several groups of people and turning down a number of different halls. Eventually, the background noise became recognizable. Cam would be arriving at her section of the laboratory rather soon. "I'm supposed to escort you up. I'll be there soon." The window went blank and then disappeared. |

Violet Night Seeing the light flash in front of her in a rhythmic fashion and hearing the high pitched ring she covered her right ear to muffle the sound. That’s such an annoying sound. They couldn’t have lowered the frequency for those with acute hearing. Violet thought to herself as she looked at the holographic window that had appeared before her. Seeing a somewhat familiar face she wonder what Cam wanted in regards to sending her a message. She leaned back for a moment as he talked about her being summoned up to the top. Recognizing where he was and where he was head she sighed. Sliding her chair back from the desk she stood up and prepared to head up knowing that there wasn’t an option of saying no when called by her. She started to type on the keyboard making sure the system would continue scanning without her attendance there. ”I wonder what it could be. Not everyday you’re summoned to the top with an escort without notice. Wouldn’t be a surprise if it’s about someone whining and complaining about me just trying to throw me under the bus.” Violet muttered under her breath. Taking off her lab coat and hanging it on the back of her chair and putting on a dark denim one. As Violet moved over to the door to wait for Cam she pulled the hair tie out, which had been holding her hair up in a messy bun on top of her head to keep it out of her face as she worked. Hair falling into its natural position, past her shoulders split more towards her right, framing her face. Poking her head out into the hall where few people were currently passing she found the new box of evidence all wrapped up to avoid contamination on the table right where she instructed it to be left. ”Guess I should get this inside before I leave. I’m sure someone would love to find a way to screw me over if they found this just sitting here.” Sliding both hands underneath the box she began to lift it. Unexpectedly heavier than she had expected she wobbled on her feet trying to keep her balance and even out the extra weight she hadn’t accounted for. What the hell did they find and send me? This is way heavier than any of the other evidence for this case. I swear if this is some kind of joke…. She thought to herself as she regained stability before walking back into lab. Only getting a few meters into the room she set the box down on a chair where it landed with a bit of a thud. Tempted to open it and find out what was so heavy she found herself staring at it know that she would be leaving any moment now. ”Of all the times to be called. I suppose it’ll be a good break from looking at a screen though. If I only knew what this is all about.” Violet said aloud to no one but herself. Moving past the box deciding to leave it be she walked back out into the hall pulling the door closed behind her. Turning to the panel on the outside of the door she scanned her hand as well as the iris of her eye to lock the lab until she got back since she still had machines running and evidence out. |

"V!" Cam was only a few steps away by the time she'd locked the door to the laboratory. She'd turned to find the same face from before. Same hair, same clean cut face, same jawline, same odd stud in his ear. Aside from the standard PDC fit and the glock on his waist, both of which Violet would have never seen on him before today, the only real and immediate difference was the wide-toothed grin he was cheesing at her. "I'm actually escorting you." The smiled curled at the corner of his mouth. "We might be getting our first real assignment together." Even if the feeling was entirely reciprocated, the excitement palpitating in his voice was unmistakable. |

Violet Night Hearing footsteps down the hall, Violet turned to find Cam approaching her as she finished locking up behind her. He appeared to be in a rather chipper mood, which seemed to be quite different from her current mood of being tired and slightly irritated. He went with excitement about escorting her and talking about being put on an assignment while Violet just stared at him only half listening. She doubted being placed on an assignment but kept quiet letting him enjoy enjoy the moment. She started to walk off in the direction of the elevator to take them off to the top, since keeping her waiting wasn’t a good idea, Violet figured he would follow along. ”More case work, Color me stoked.” Violet replied trying not to kill his mood by giving a fake smile with it. ”And I don’t think escorting me up to the top is that exciting as it sounds. I’m just a normal person. Not any type of idol or celebrity.” She replied not sure why she needed a escort and why it wasn’t someone ranked higher up considering where she was being taken to. Reaching the elevator she selected the button to head upward, the door opened in only a matter of seconds with no one inside. The back wall opposite the doorway was made of glass allowing those occupying the elevator to see outside to the city from the floors above ground that is. Stepping in she selected the floor and made her way into one of the back corners next to the view of the city outside and leaned up against the wall. Remaining relatively quiet she stared and continued to half listen to anything Cam went on about to reply simply considering Violet was more curious about what this whole ordeal was. |

"So you keep telling yourself." Cam followed Violet into the elevator and occupied a space opposite her, his back tucked into the corner where translucent glass and opaque walls met. He watched the city outside begin to sink as the box car ascended to the higher levels. "You know you're still the only one whose been on assignment right? Of the twenty of us who made it out of that program." He chuckled and turned to look at her. "One test and you shot right past the rest of us. Left us in the dust... I'd say that makes you a little more than just normal." The car continued to ascend. Green translucent numbers floating half an inch off a black plate in the wall kept a running tab of the floor they were on... and of the speed they were traveling. In the breadth of a few seconds, they'd jumped twnty levels. At around floor 295 they began to slow, silent breaks bringing their ride to a stop at floor 310. "Three ten." Came a soft female voice. The doors opened to a wide well lit hall that split at the start in three directions. The furnishings here were warm, made of manufactured oak and was carpeted. Everything was draped in a neutral palette. A stark contrast to nearly all the floors in the PDC, everything from this floor and up was "royalty". If you were here, you had a reason to be. The hall to the left and right were fairly identical. Lamps lined the inner most walls, the outer being glass to allow a view of the Oakland skyline, and followed the path around a corner at the far end. There were a number of unmarked doors at regular intervals, a number of obligatory chairs, paintings that no one cared for and shrubs. All of them fake. Straight ahead was more of the same although this hall wasn't particularly long. There was a clear path leading to french doors behind what looked to be a receptionists desk. There was a woman waiting there. Cam gestured "ladies first" and was about to follow when something stopped him in his tracks. The golden strobe in his ear began to pulse at an alarmingly fast rate and then suddenly turned to a constant dim red. He remained motionless and silent for a dozen or so seconds, staring blankly at the floor until the strobe returned and then settled once again with the odd repeating pattern it was before. ᴇᴄʜᴏ No sound is generated so nothing can be picked up. You recognize the device as direct-to-brain communication. He looked up at Violet. "Well. Uh... looks like this is where we part ways." He gave her a rather somber smile. "Won't be running that assignment together after all... but..." The somberness faded, replaced quickly with the same hopeful warmth from before. "...Don't count me out just yet." He nodded toward the end of the hall. "You know where her office is. Last one at the end." He'd remain for parting comments before taking off down a separate hall. |

Violet Night Violet stared outside for the short ride going to the the three hundredth and tenth floor as Cam continued to talk about her placement. She watched the shadows that outlined the tall metallic skyscrapers and the darkened silhouettes grow, stretching out the higher up they ascended. ”That's just due to luck and the fact I take test well. Trust me when I say I'm ordinary.” Violet commented back as they reach the floor. Once the door opened Cam had her step out first on to the floor. She had only been up here once or twice since arriving here. Still not completely use to the difference to the lower floors. It appeared to almost capture the look of another time. Being carpeted and having paintings along the walls with furniture made of wood, coming all together to give the a slightly warmer feeling than the typical halls of metal and glass. Looking back over to Cam noticing the silence she noticed his piercing flashing which meant having a more private conversation that she couldn't hear. Rather than interrupt, Violet waited till it was over. Once he seemed to come back he was quick to tell her that she was on her own going into the office. ”Right…. Of course everyone knows where that is. Guess I better get going. Wouldn't want to keep her waiting with that schedule of hers. And I'm sure whatever just happened in that conversation needs to be tended to as well.” Violet replied without much of a smile or wave before turning in the direction she needed to be heading. As she walked towards the desk she paid little to no attention to the paintings and the carved details in the walls but rather stayed looking forward. Why have me come up here with Cam in the first place. Not like there was a need for an escort. It’s not my first time up here either Thoughts ran through Violet’s head up until she reached the desk where the woman was standing. ”Hello, She wanted to see me.” Was all Violet said to her. She kept it short and to the point just wanting to know why she was being asked for unexpectedly. Violet didn’t even bother to introduce herself considering that they probably already knew all about her. As she waited for the woman at the desk to reply Violet’s eyes wandered to the french doors behind the desk. It had an elegant design carved into it with contrasting colors of wood that balanced each other out. The design felt as if it were inviting you in with your eyes but only if people knew who was behind those doors. Violet had met her once before on the first day working here, Violet being ambitious despite her quiet appearance never coward away or appeared nervous when they first spoke for a brief moment. She gave the same appearance now as she did then, feeling ready to know why she was wanted here today. |

"Violet Night." The woman behind the desk said plainly, glancing up at Violet and revealing a glow in her left eye. If one were to look closely enough, they could make out a thin grid etched into the pupil that fluttered dim light as she stared. While she stared, her hands continued to move at her desk. Splayed open between each finger from the pilca to the wrist and pushed open slightly, a machined framework beneath clear skin was revealed. Extra digits, thin and metallic, were protruding from the gaps and pressing keys along with her "real" fingers. It was obvious that her productivity was through the roof at the rate she was typing... and the way she was doing it without looking. A handful of seconds passed before the glowing in her eyes stopped abruptly. "Please step inside. She's waiting." She answered in much of the same tone she'd used when she "greeted" the woman. Without addressing Violet further, the girl returned to her monitor. An audible "click", like that of the sound of a bolt sliding out of place, echoed from the french doors signaling that it was now unlocked. ʀᴏᴏᴍ: Beyond the doors is a short flight of stairs to a landing only a floor above. The path at the top wraps back around these steps and leads the opposite direction, back toward the elevator previous. The office is behind a second set of french doors and beyond that is Chief of Police Lorelei. Room is similar in appearance to this: The office is carpeted and warmly lit with a single desk situated at the center and at the far end of the room. There are a number of monitors suspended against the windows at the back, these windows providing a panoramic view of the Oakland Skyline as a backdrop. |

Violet Night Violet Stood there as the woman at the desk had said her name then proceeded to identify Violet. Typing away at the keyboard in front of Violet stood there in silence waiting to be allowed in. She watch the woman not really taking note of the mechanical features that were visible from where she stood. Being told that she could proceed inside before hearing the click of the doors opening up, Violet walked passed the desk without saying another word to the woman at the front. Through the doorway she found herself at the base of a stairwell which appeared to lead up on one side and back down along another side. Most people would be curious and look around trying to take in all of their surrounds but Violet went straight on up the stairs only occasionally glancing in a direction other than forward. She walked in the middle of the stairwell not staying too close to the railings and not touching a thing except for the carpet below her feet. Reaching the second set of french doors on the landing Violet opened them without hesitation and proceeded to walk into the center of the room her eyes remaining forward on the desk in front of her, not appearing to be distracted by the screens or the view that laid just beyond the desk. Her heels made an muffled clacking noise every time her foot made contact with the carpet. In the dead center of the room Violet halted there looking straight ahead at Lorelei. ”You called for me.” Violet said in a rather normal tone breaking through the somewhat silent room. She stood there quietly after saying that line appearing to be looking at the desk but rather looking past it to the outside view of the city. Not being able to get a view like this anywhere else Violet was distracted for a moment as she waited to hear why she was being summoned. Her head didn’t turn, her eyes didn’t wander but looking in one direction had enough detail to just stare at. |

"I did. I have an assignment for you." The Chief of Police hadn't looked up when Violet entered the room. She wasn't sitting either. She was standing, bent slightly at the waist and leaned forward over her desk, both hands pressed into the wood. She was staring intently at a monitor up until she'd finally addressed the woman. "Violet, given your track record, your time spent on base and the help you've supplied to the few teams you've been a part of off base, I have something that needs... you're particular expertise. Your eyes." Lorelei was standing now. "The last body in a long string of murders has been found at the docks..." She nodded as if to answer a question that wasn't asked. "Yeah this one is a bit closer to home than usual. Now normally this would fall to the local police but there have been some disturbing similarities to other victims across... the country. So it's fallen to us. I want you out there but given your track record with partners... or the lack there of, I've taken the liberty of assigning one to you. Every officer in the PDC has someone watching their back and I'm not about to let you go out there on your own so..." She paused for a moment. "...Well as you already know we usually have the system automatically present assignments and you're probably wondering why I asked you up here." "You're partner is an AIDA. First to be deployed since the incident and... to us. I don't think I need to stress to you the importance of what this means. But... I anticipated you having some questions so... Ask." |

Violet Night As Lorelei spoke Violet stood there, perfectly straight, not fidgeting, quietly with her hands tucked in the arch of her back. Lorelei seemed to be focused on some of the things on the monitors in front of her which Violet had expected since there was always more work to do. As she continued to speak the topic of murders that might be connected and that she was assigning Violet to them. A new assignment and a little recognition, there’s got to be another reason why she took the time to call and meet with me. It be easier to just let the system assign me to this case and assign me to a partner. Violet thought to herself during Lorelei’s momentary pause before continuing on to talk about the system assigning cases to people. Then came the topic of the AIDAs. Violet hadn’t heard much about them since the uprising of the last models. The views on them were mixed, but for the most part people weren’t very trusting of them and were rather skeptical of the idea of creating more. ”Why me? I’m sure there are plenty of people who would be more qualified to work with an AIDA. And so many people don’t trust them, so how does it benefit the case? Doesn’t it just make this more difficult to get people to cooperate?” Violet took a momentary pause between questions. ”I don’t even have experience with any AIDAs, New or old versions.” Violet went quiet again as she waited for some answers, Her hands were now down at her sides from her talking and moving her hands while talking. Violet still appearing rather calm but had her curiosity peaked with the fact that she had been picked for this. How did we even obtain one? I thought there were only a few made to begin with. were just a few thoughts that raced through her head. She wasn’t a hundred percent sure about going through with all of this but her curiosity gave her a push to want to do it and not like she could say no to Lorelei anyways. Violet knew she would attract more stares and rumors by having one of them following her around but they didn’t bother her too much now so how bad could it get. She didn’t really care about what the others thought of her as long as they stayed out of her ways. |

"Normally you would be correct." Lorelei began, turning now to walk around her desk. "Secure office." The windows behind her tinted until they were midnight, the panoramic horizon from before now entirely obscured behind opaque panes of glass. Behind Violet, the double doors were securely locked evident by the sound of bolts sliding into place. Four to be exact. The identical set of doors on the floor below did the same though neither of the office's occupants could hear it. The room was entirely sound proofed and at the moment, impenetrable. Reinforced palladium "steel" glass would only break under the weight of a direct collision with a freight class transporter. The doors and walls? They'd be good for a week or so. "I know it's an odd combination. A girl ostracized for out performing her peers and an Aida who only a decade ago were ready to start a war. But..." By now she'd walked around to the opposite side of her desk and was leaned against it with her arms crossed under her chest. She caught Violet's gaze and recognized the look of curiosity in her eyes immediately, almost smiling to herself. That curiosity was what she needed right now. A fire that smoldered in her eyes. Of course the subject matter ahead was rather sensitive and discretion was a must. She had to be careful she didn't divulge too much. "...I've got a hunch about something and as a pilot... we learn to trust what our gut is telling us. Right now... my gut is telling me to assign this to the officer with the highest marks of her class. Someone who has the eyes to see what others will miss because she taken the time to learn what to look for. Someone who isn't afraid to take a different path and doesn't have the burden of a circle of influence to tell her otherwise. An officer like that is bound to get herself into some trouble and the only kind of person I trust to protect her is someone who is also outside those circles. This AIDA is not for the case. It's for you." Lorelei unfolded her arms and planted them against the desk on either side of herself. "Once people find out what your partner is... yes, there's going to be misgivings and some mistrust but I know you know your way around that. This isn't about getting people to cooperate... it's about getting to the bottom of something..." She paused for a moment, the look on her face changing to something more absolute than before, if that were possible. "I can't go into more detail than that." "As for the inexperience. You'll be spending as much time as you need learning him. Knowing you, you'll be an expert before either of you leave that room. Personnel will direct you to where we are holding the AIDA and will accommodate you in any way as you two acclimate. It's a personal process from what I understand meant to personalize your control over it. You'll understand when you get there." "Now, besides the specific reasoning as to why you were assigned, I can answer any other questions you might have." |

Violet Night Violet didn’t have any other questions that popped into her head as Lorelei spoke explaining her reasoning. As Lorelei spoke Violet was quiet and still. She didn’t shift or fidget one bit. Violet decided she might as well just go with it considering that Lorelei had chosen her to be partner up with an AIDA. Her mind went to thinking about what kind of cases she would be doing with the AIDA and where that path would lead her. She wasn’t fearful of what people would think, working with an android where the previous model had lost control causing destruction, or where she would end up at the end of this adventure. But rather she had the desire to move forward and make a new path that others didn’t want to forage. Her curiosity and sense of adventure drove her forward. ”Not at this moment. I’m sure things will become clearer once the process starts.” She replied to the question asked to her at the end. Violet figured there would be questions along the way that would be answered lated on but she would be able to adapt to the situation presented to her. Taking her time to learn her way around an AIDA she hoped would come easily as everything she had put her mind to. She wondered what the new models were even like compared to the previous models she could remember. Remembering that Lorelei had mentioned the personal control, which was something that she had picked up on but didn’t remember the older models having and personal connection to the owners. Violet wondered how that would work and started to have thoughts flow her head since she would have to be in the process to learn how it worked. ”I take it the best way to learn about this is to just jump in head first and learn from the experience.” Violet said coming back from her train of thought realizing she had been quiet for a few moments lost in her thoughts. |

"Well... that's how I learned." Lorelei replied with a smile and a slight heave of her chest, the smallest sign of dormant humor. "If there's nothing else, head to the infirmary and the personnel there will direct you. Lastly..." She leaned away from the desk and reached behind her before pressing her thumb firmly against a space unmarked. From the wood finish, a seam appeared cut deep into the surface and from it, the unmarked space turned into a raised box, one hidden in plain sight. This box snapped open at the top revealing a number of tiny upgrade chips. She plucked at one and held it up between herself and Violet. "...Have one of the Aug Techs down there install this." She said, walking over to her and waiting for an open hand. "Doesn't do much except give you a direct line to me. Communication is direct to brain. Not visible like the others. Not traceable. Custom made to fit..." She tapped at the space just behind her ear. "I'm there if you need questions and I'll be checking in periodically." ʀᴇᴄɪᴇᴠᴇᴅ: Updgrade Chip (Ear) v? This item requires installation. Provides a direct line of communication with the Chief of Police. Don't abuse this. She won't like it. "Good luck out there officer." --- PDC Level 102. Infirmary. --- "Officer Night." A female in green scrubs greeted Violet at the door. Her hair was up. Her mask across her chin. No gloves and a clipboard in her hand. "We have room three ready for you. The subject is... well... it's waiting..." There was this aura or professionalism and respect that hung in the air around her, but even that wasn't enough to hide the uncertainty trailing at the end of her sentence. Those who worked the infirmary at the PDC had seen their fair share of the strange. The partnering of an Aida with a human in this manner? This was something entirely new. "Before you go in... was there anything you'd like to know? We've spent a few hours with it already." |

Violet Night Violet took the chip that was handed to her and nodded her head showing that she understood before leaving the office behind and heading down to the infirmary as instructed to do so. She had slid the chip into her pocket and head back out the door and down the steps not looking back. Stepping off the elevator and walking over to the infirmary she had a woman greet her as she walked through the door. She appeared to have on the typical scrubs and mask as well as having her hair up to keep it out of the way as she worked. Violet typically hadn’t come down to the infirmary since she was rarely outside of work and home so she glanced around as the woman spoke to her, asking if she had any questions. Violet could tell that the process and working with an AIDA was something new to them here in the infirmary since her voice had faltered a bit while trailing out her last statement. Violet just simply smiled a bit taking a few steps towards room three. ”I don’t have any in particular. But I was told to get this implanted while I was down here. Might as well just get started, I’m sure questions will be answered as the process moves along.” Violet had stopped after a few steps to turn around and pull the chip back out of her pocket to hand off to the girls she had been talking to. Violet got a sense she would know how to deal with that or at least hand it off to the right person. Violet turned back towards the room and started to walk towards it once again. ”What type of process are you performing exactly today? Lorelei mentioned something about it being under my personal control.” Violet asked as the question surfaced in her thoughts. Violet reached the door placing her hand on the handle pausing a moment waiting for an answer to make sure the girl had kept up behind her. Violet had moved ahead not wanting to waste time standing and talking while she could be moving forward while learning and observing. She wasn’t sure what to expect once she opened and walked through that door but Violet kept and open mind and was ready to see who she would be spending her time at work with since they were being partnered up. |

She took the chip in her hand and began to inspect it. "So the protocols are drastically different with their latest model. Lots of effort went into making sure they follow strict guidelines but also had the freedom to develop on their own." She shook her head. "Happy medium. So... this process is a little strange." As the lady spoke, she waived down another attendant and passed them the chip. "It's been laid bare. Naked. And has been instructed to be an open book. You can ask it anything and it has to answer. After the initial Q and A, you will be setting up your personalized commands. Key words that it will recognize that work as orders that it must follow. At the end... you'll need to create for it a phrase... a string of words, a poem, anything. Not unlike a password, it'll allow edits to its commands and personality. It'll also be something it can repeat when asked. This will run a diagnostic check to make sure it's running smoothly." She placed her hand on the door. "I'll be present for this first segment but for security reasons the room must be private for the rest. If you need us, we're right outside. As you know, the doors are biometrically locked so you can leave but it cannot." There was a brief pause before she nodded toward the door and pushed it open. Inside was rather plain. A well lit cubicle room with white walls and ceiling and little else. In the corner was an empty space where a bed would have been if it had not been removed. Surfaces were empty as were the shelves. In the center was a single wooden table about waist height and two chairs, one of which was occupied... by a man. The man in question was naked, his elbows on the table and his hands clasped together and under his chin. There was a thin metal band around both of his wrists. His hair was a jet black and pushed to one side. The sharpness of his face was made fuzzy by the stubble that clung to his chin. It was obvious he could grow a beard but it looked like he'd made some kind of an effort to look presentable... despite the way he was seated now. At first glace it also looked like efforts were made to take care of his body, although it was hard to tell if that was an AIDA thing or actually an effort made by him. As soon as the two women stepped into the room, he stood up. Still completely naked. Hands still together. "Officer Night." He nodded at her and flashed a smile. "Nice to finally put a face to the name." |

Violet Night Violet nodded as she was told a bit more information before going in. She wonder how this would all go considering everyone seemed to be saying that everything that could possibly be customized was an option for her to do so. With a nod to open up the door Violet did so without any hesitation. Glancing around for a quick moment, the room inside reminded her a bit of an interrogation room rather than one of the infirmary room. It was rather bare, stripped of everything but a couple of chairs and a table. She took a few steps into the room before being greeted by a what appeared to a man that was completely naked with his hands bound together which reminded her even more of being in an interrogation room ”I could say the same for you.” She replied taking the seat opposite of where he had been sitting before standing to greet her. Violet looked him over before speaking again. ”Is there a reason why he isn’t given clothes? I understand the bands on his hands and not having anything in the room but no clothes?” Violet asked. Her facial expression didn’t seem to change much as she asked. Violet leaned back in her chair observing her environment as she usually did with everything. Her emerald colored eyes circled the room not finding anything unusual about it. Coming back to him she just stopped and stared, making eye contact. ”So you’re the newest model.” Violet stated as she continued to stare. ”I’m a bit curious about you. So let’s hear a bit of a run down about you considering I don’t know much about the new model and considering many still seem to fear you.” Her facial expression seemed to appear the same as she asked for some information. As she waited for his response she pulled her hair back into a ponytail to keep it out of the way as they talked. When her hair was up she leaned forward, resting her forearms on the table just simply listening. |

”Is there a reason why he isn’t given clothes? I understand the bands on his hands and not having anything in the room but no clothes?” "We're monitoring his vitals. All of them. At least in this room it's easiest when naked and this protocol..." The woman tapped the edge of the clipboard in her hands with a pen, reading it over for the hundredth time to find a specific line of literature. "...Advises complete transparency. Supposed to help with the transition... and trust." A few moments of silence passed, the assistant remaining still and the AIDA... he found his seat again. ”So you’re the newest model. I’m a bit curious about you. So let’s hear a bit of a run down about you considering I don’t know much about the new model and considering many still seem to fear you.” He nodded his head knowingly, almost as if he'd assumed this was going to be one of the first questions asked. Who he was? What he was? Both Usually followed by a question of trust. "A D dash four dot M. I'm the latest model in a short line of artificially intelligent robotics. The second generation to be grown and so am entirely organic. If you want to get technical I'm about five years of age." He smiled. "My version is near the same as previous version but are generally less durable, posses a smaller boost to strength and are highly customizable. Built to specifications set forth by the buyer and then further modified to fit specific roles as we grow. We're specialized and then further personalized for safety. There a number of additional precautions that have been put into place since the incident on Mars." There was a short pause as he looked around the room. "I was purchased by Chief of Police Lorelei to act in a security capacity and lend what I can to ongoing criminal investigations, so i was trained for such work. Spent a year on deployment on the red planet working guard detail. Studied.. profusely and after having been cleared for delivery to Lorelei, she assigned me to you." The AIDA found Violet's eyes with his, locking with her once again. "As for the fear... Well that's what this pairing is for. You ultimately have full control over me... for the most part. Once this process is complete. It's so you have nothing to fear and hopefully, neither will anyone else." "Now that I mention it, most would have refused to enter the room. Why am I being paired with you? Lorelei was very specific." |

Violet Night Violet listened making a few mental notes to herself as the AIDA spoke. Quietly observing as they talked, she couldn’t find anything about them that seemed different than an actual person. Everything laid out and told to her seemed to make sense in how they were made and working with them. Violet watched as he looked around the room for a moment before asking a question she had asked before about being paired, Violet leaned back a bit before answering. ”True. Most I know wouldn’t have come in here yet alone sit and have a conversation. Let’s say I don’t fear much anymore but I was rather curious at the mention of you. As for pairing us together, I asked Lorelei the same question. Seems like I’m not the ordinary officer to her. I tend to let curiosity take me to new places, which tends to lead to trouble. And like I said before I’m not really afraid of much nowadays. She seems to think it be good for me to have someone have my back when it I get myself into trouble. So that’s where you come in.” Violet replied thinking of her conversation before this up in Lorelei’s office. While speaking she had ignored the assistant in the room as she seemed to be taking note and reading over sheets on her clipboard. The tapping of the clipboard distracted Violet for a second in the quiet room causing her to glance over at her for a moment before turning her attention back to her stream of thoughts. ”It should be quiet interesting to see how this all works out. Lorelei has her plans, so I wonder how she expected the turn out of this. Anyways you’re already trained in this line of work as expected, so it’s really just a bit of a learning curve how to work together. I suppose that’s easily fixed with customizations but I’m curious as to if you have your own personality. Or is everything just a setting. Considering they’ve made you all so human like and being completely organic.” Violet let a few of her thoughts out as they came to her. She figured most of her questions would be answered helping her learn past what she could observe. |
