That is one awfully humongous lie Kendrick told. I can see why Charlotte is bitter. She fell in love with him and believed everything he said. That being said, neither of the parents are any good. Kendrick is full of lies and unfulfilled promises, probably manipulative too, considering how many kids he's convinced her to have. Charlotte is cruel and makes harsh threats to Anne. I do wish that there was some sort of medicine to combat Kendrick's heart disease, but there probably weren't any at that time. We knew a lot less about treating our ailments then than we do now.

She's going to be sent to the orphanage, isn't she? UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH
