| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Good start,the premise catched my attention and I'm definitely looking forward to see how things will develop for Ryouan and Manjirou. The opening for this show is kinda unique,but very beautiful imo. Also digging the soundtrack,setting and atmosphere in general. |

| Very good start. The music is fantastic and the visuals are better than the cover image made me expect. Of course it helps that I generally have a weakspot for Tezuka's designs. The two main characters are also both pretty interesting. The first ep definitely made me want to see more of them and that's always a good start. The setting is also at an interesting point in time and the themes of western science vs tradition already got my attention. I'm wondering how much of a timespan this show will cover, but knowing Tezuka it might be quite a lot. So yeah, all the signs point to this having a lot of potential to become one of my favorites. It's already my favorite type of show, adult slice of life with an interesting occupation/setting, and if the first ep is anything to go by it's also going to do a pretty good job at it. Consider me hooked. |

I'm super excited, I've had this on my radar for years and only ever a feint hope of it getting subbed and now it's finally done. Feelsgoodman I think this cements Orphan as my favorite fansub group ever. Not only do they sub so many forgotten OVAs and Movies, but even a gem TV series like this now. <3 |

| Ryouan hitting his patient, visiting the geishas and scaring off a doctor of the shogunate makes me question what kinda sketchy reputation he wants to uphold. Can definitely see some of Osamu Tezuka in this, seems like an interesting start with the free-spirited 'modern' doctor and the traditional stern samurai duo. |
