How does this one fit, just started the original series in time for this show, but curious where it fits.

It's a direct sequel. The original MAJOR (6 seasons, movies and OVAs) is about Goro Shigeno. MAJOR 2ND is the story of his son Daigo Shigeno. So yes, you'll have to finish the original seasons first to prepare for 2nd.

If he is just son of the original Major character, then why do you need to watch the original ?! I think I could watch this without watching the original

But Major 2nd is about his Son and a new team. SO, why do I have to know about Gorou past ?!

Because Gorou's influence persists, you will miss a lot of important stuff if you skip it.

Well, I do believe that to fully understand the struggle of the mains here, watching the original will be helpful. Not to mention it's a damn good series.

But you do have the point that it can be watched without the original Major. I read up to the raws as well so I think this can be a standalone because there is a difference in the themes presented and the returning characters are still introduced briefly so I guess you will be fine. Although, keep in mind that you might not understand why a certain character will do what he does without knowing his background.

Literally all u need to know from goro is from major message, because we see his son perspective and why he wants to start playing baseball and the sacrifice he has made. However still recommend the original series however due to being a completely different cast of character with some reoccuring elements but the setting is what mainly gets carried over. Why this club is so important ....

Anyways the original major series is so good so why not, just take ur time its fine, considering its like 79 volumes and it was only 6 seasons with 2 extra OVA and special its pretty good.

Studio Hibari and SynergySP did a great job with the series

Kasai, Kenichi and Fukushima, Toshinori the director for all 6 series deserves our respect

More like a reboot with totally new casts.

You don't have to watch the previous to understand the plot.

You don't NEED to watch Major to enjoy Major 2nd but you'll probably find it kind of boring since there are so many adult characters who are kids from the original Major. It's so nostalgic to see everyone grown up.

I'd say it's only a 7/10 anime if you don't have previous knowledge but an 8+/10 if you're already into Major as a whole like me.
