Ishizukuri no Miko

I was watching the movie and there was something I didn't understand. What was wrong with Ishizukuri no Miko (I mean besides the fact he wanted to marry Kaguya for status)? I mean the flower he gave Kaguya and all that talk about going somewhere else to live happily and all seemed like things Kaguya wanted.

But when he tried to see her without permission and saw her mother and his hat fell off he seemed desperate to put it back. Was there any meaning about his hair? Why did Kaguya's mom insinuated that he "pluck flowers and left them with shaved heads to become nums" (or something like that)? Not trying to defend the guy, just really thought I was missing something in this scene

it was not her mother that he saw, it was his first wife (kita). she was talking about the fact he has lied like that to his previous wives before.
