Why do I feel this dark void/depressing mood while watching this anime?

I feel as if this show is going to rip my heart out at episode 9 only to make me cry from happiness at ep 12.

Dnt spoil me but did you feel the same? I'm at ep 2

Because the characters are generally irrational, as people are in life, and it was obvious that someone was going to get hurt. 3 girls and 2 guys just doesn't go.
