I play oud very well but when I came to guitar the most difficult thing was the chords lol, I don't know why!?, I tried the net for chords but I'm not good at memorizing although I can play some chords on the oud (the easy ones lol like C C minor D and I think G) how did you learn the guitar ? any helpful websites?

also I don't know what the dot on the guitar means?

:o kan wayed sahal

I didn't use websites. I learned guitar from a friend back in high school. I borrowed hers just to try some tunes and later on, I saw myself playing songs and stuff in one hand.

My arm is short too but it wasn't hard for me to hit the notes either XDDDD
The notes were all there, that made it easier for me to learn guitar than oud.

Ok...this post will probably end up being long, but bear with me.

I can see why you wouldn't consider "watching anime/movies/tv" as a hobby, since you're only at the "receiving end" and there's barely any interactions. Yet if you look at it this way, one could argue that "reading" wouldn't be a hobby either since when you read, you're also at the receiving end and not really interacting...unless you consider flipping pages as a form of interacting.

As for "videogames", well, the level of interactions in videogames is way more than just "watching" or "reading". In most cases, whenever you play a game, there's constant activity in the form of output(info the game is feeding you through the screen) and input(varying forms of controlling a game, be it through gamepads, keyboards, "body movements"...etc) throughout a session of "gaming".

Another point I'd like to point out about videogames is the fact that "skill" plays a big factor in a lot of games. Someone who never held a gamepad in his life will have a hard and probably painful experience trying to finish the first stage/area in games like "Demon Souls" or "Ninja Gaiden"(and no, this is not only limited to "action like" games, this will probably hold true for all types of games, racers, rpgs, strategy,...and so on).

Now, if you try to factor "skill" into watching movies or reading a book...there's no need at all(I'll ignore the ability to "read" as being a skill, unless you really want to argue about it ._. ).

...I'm going to stop for now because I have to leave. I'll either continue this post later or continue the discussion later "if" and "when" I see you.

P.S.: I do consider Watching anime, playing videogames, and reading as a hobby. So yeah, even if my post doesn't show that right now, it will probably show that later when I finish it.

You got a point in the matter of reading, but in the matter of "skills" in video games it's constant and there is no development, for example, if you know how to beat a boss or a stage at certain circumstance then it's over, also one important point, there is no talent involved in playing video games, talent differs from skills, ok maybe a hobby is "what you do to kill time" but without talent and skill it's not considered a hobby for me.

So I share you're opinion about reading not considered as a hobby, but not video games.
