Having the culprit be part of the capture plan as an ally isn't anything new, so saw that coming. Zack is capable of piloting and making a device that determines if organisms were edible, making Charce the more likely culprit. Charce probably agreed to the suicide mission in exchange for Sayla/Seira's recovery. The plan would also be the perfect opportunity to take all three of them out since Kanata and Zack would be behind Ulgar.
