| I feel like we as the viewers are "balloon vine" a lot of times in romantic anime's we're watching characters hide their feelings and we want something dramatic to happen that will make them say what's in their hearts. We think maybe if the characters had some empathy for each other they could understand how the others feel and be more open, so we get the body switching. Then, when that doesn't work out like we want it to, we get the dramatic hospital scene that forces them all to say what they've bottled up inside. After that the romance was sure to blossom and balloon vine left them alone. 3 weeks later they still weren't going out. So, we as a community get frustrated. They each know how the other feels for them yet they wont say what it is they desire. So we get the desires unleashed, so they can finally all say and do what's in their hearts. Such as, admitting how they want to spend all their free time with the one they hold affections for. That they want to hold and ravish them, like Inaba does when she releases her desires on Taichi; and scream out all the reasons they love each other like Aoki did in the club room. Finally with the love triangle still not making any headway, balloon vine directly connects their thoughts and emotions. Then, the anime does something I think is clever. It inserts all these plot details a lot of us claim we'd like to see, and it shows us how they can go terribly wrong. |
