I don't really get why so many people hate the ending to Tsuneki's arc. I thought it was really nice and made more sense for the character. I know they hadn't gotten married and had a kid like with Tooru and Kyoko, but I'm pretty sure that they got together in the end. so what's the problem?

Eh, the show wasn't really capturing my interest to begin with, so maybe the wanting to become a chef thing wasn't as much of a blindside as it actually felt - but it really took the wind out of the show's sails. I haven't watched the other arcs but that ending didn't sit well. Not that they had to get together, but the reasoning behind it didn't really add up to me.

I didn't feel they were close enough for her coming back to have any meaning, and that the guy was pining after her in choosing his own career really seemed pathetic. Maybe they did some interaction off screen during the time skip but from a viewers perspective it just felt flat.

Also a personal gripe I'm not a fan of the MC VA, hated him in Asterisk Wars so any excuse would have gotten me to drop this, especially the first arc.

I'd say it is because of the feeling of wasted potential. Tsuneki's arc was never about her. The first episode barely had her in it and was more about introducing the MC. So they were behind the eight ball at the start and only really had 3 episodes to do her arc. It's like they had several ideas of what they might want to do with Tsuneki, but couldn't pick. Did they want to focus on her maturing as an individual and becoming more self-sufficient? Solve the mystery of who ratted her out and sent her to that camp?

Amagami arcs were pretty clear and focused. Develop a romance between the MC and the heroine of that route. Maybe he has to overcome a personal problem or she has to overcome something. But never really felt like Tsuneki's arc was about her and the MC developing into anything together.

The ending just felt flat anyways. It might have been a good emotional moment for them to rationally separate to go their own paths and meet up again later. But...it never felt like that arc ever even got to a point where that separation meant something. It's like getting ready to head to the starting line and then just not even bothering to go that far before going home.

How can you not hate it?

The other 2 arcs had far more conclusive ending(Marriage and kids!!), endings that are fitting for a successor of Amagami...
