Just realized this is 2 seasons, not sure if everyone is going to stick around for both seasons, but hopefully we can at least get through this first one. Ep 1 Our young master seems like a bit of a manchild to be honest. I was expecting more from a male lead in a josei. Emma on the other hand seems to be far more mature and respectable, but has obviously taking a liking to Mr. Jones and him to her. Not really sure how this relationship is gonna work considering the vast class difference between a maid and the son of a noble man. Atmosphere was really on point, digging the music and slow pace. Also like the minimalistic instrumental OP and ED. Sometimes less is more. Historical stuff in general is a lot more interesting to me than anything in modern times. As far as animation its pretty average, but I'm liking the character designs. Definitely feel a bit retro. A good compromise between realistic and overly cartoony. The backgrounds are where the show really shines as far as visuals though. I love the rustic and lived-in feel. Ep 2 A new challenger appears! Emma was pretty much absent from this episode in favor of this new girl Eleanor. It seems strange considering Emma is supposed to be the main character. It was quite the bold move to buy that parasol for Emma right in front of Eleanor and his sisters though. Of course there was a misunderstanding, but luckily it was cleared up relatively quickly. I'm glad he ended up giving the parasol to his head maid, she seemed to like it. Looks like Eleanor isn't quite ready to give up on Mr. Jones yet though. |

I'll probably stick around for the two seasons. Episode 1 A friend of mine recommended the manga to me a few times and I had a different idea of what this would be, but hey, I'm liking it. The animation is not amazing, but so far it seems consistent and the character designs are very faithful to the art in the original manga. As @LoneWolf said the instrumental music is a nice change and the atmosphere of the show is great. Although I agree that the main male character seems a bit immature, that might be why he's so open about his intentions with her and a more serious guy would be more self-possessed. It might also be a way to show his growth for being around her or trying to impress her? Who knows. I assume she's more collected because of a strict upbringing, she does work for a retired governess, after all. I don't recall it being said how old they are, so I'm assuming those qualities would try to represent how they evolved considered where they are from. Episode 2 Ah, well sometimes politeness can be confused with someone else, especially for the non-initiated in interaction with the opposite sex. The whole episode was a series of misunderstandings that was a bit awkward to watch just because they could totally happen, even today. The interactions between the characters are so interesting and genuine that I look forward to watching more of the show. |

Episode 3 Hakim's arrival made me predict more or less the whole episode. Well, another challenger appears. I guess it makes sense that Emma and William are both so popular. Hakim didn't waste any time in putting them moves on Emma. It's interesting that he asked her instead of William about their relationship. Let's see how things will go. William is totally brooding about the whole thing. Episode 4 The girls accompanying Hakim are such a sight, they just touch everyone. It's marvellous. I really liked the scene in the library/book lender's. It's interesting to see snippets of how the Jones siblings interact with the rest of the society. So Eleanor would be a good addition according to Arthur, I hope he'll marry her instead then... I'm so glad Hakim was honest with William about what he was doing and it seems that will encourage William on to say his own feelings. The last couple of scenes gave me hope that things will keep progressing well. |

I will join this simul watch :) Episode 1 This was a very good start to a cute love story. The scenery and the whole Victorian atmosphere is put together amazingly. The music is very pretty as well. It seems Emma turns down men all the time- what makes Mr. Jones any different? @LoneWolf I like that he's a bit immature- it complements her clumsiness. I loved that first part how she hit him with the door and the cat immediately started playing with his hat xD So she didn't get new spectacles because she liked the memory of getting the ones she currently has? That's silly- at least she got the lace that she really wanted :) That tea making clock is so cool! Episode 2 I wonder how his father will react when he finds out Willam's trying to be with a maid? C: The parasol shop scene was so well done! You can feel the embarrassment and awkwardness in the air. I'm so glad the parasol was given to the old maid- So Cute <3 @tsuyokunaru I agree the show is very genuine in how the characters interact with each other Episode 3 Elephants in London! Oh My! Hakim is a crazy character! A person that brings his home with him wherever he gos! and with a entourage of women always around him xD so weird! I wanted to see more of Emma's reaction to Hakim's confession- maybe the next episode will show it? |

Episode 4 The library scene was good. I like how the series admits it's own trope by Emma picking up that book :D The younger brother, Author annoys me so much! It's fun seeing Hakim and William together because their so different. Episode 5 This was a very good episode :) It gave a very nice background to Ms. Kelly. Al is a good character as well! I didn't think the old guys playing cards would be important to the story ^-^ It never told how her husband died though... maybe sickness? Episode 6 Poor Emma and William! Separated into two different countries by his father! The conversation at the market about the girl going to boarding school was interesting. |

Ep 3 Thanks for joining us @SummerIchigo o_O Dam that escalated quickly. Hakim really isn't messing around he was super direct. Was not expecting to see elephants in this anime. It reminds me of the author's other work A Bride's Story. Yeah William, doesn't seem to happy about this. Ep 4 Another episode where Emma is pretty much absent. Hakim definitely adds a lot of fun to the show though with his indoor car driving, elephants, belly dancers and hookah. I'm guessing they didn't have althletic clothes back in the day cause playing tennis in a frilly dress looked ridiculous. The moment at the end where Emma finally showed up was sweet though. |

Ep 5 Not really much to say about this episode. Nice to have some backstory on the mistress. Very relaxed and slow episode, nice atmosphere. I'm surprised arranged marriages were a thing in England though. Ep 6 Damn that was pretty intense. I didn't think the whole arranged marriage thing would be such a big deal, but wow... I'm starting to feel really bad for William. Mr Jones (William's Dad) seems to be a really strict traditional guy and kind of disappointed in his fairly aloof son. I have to say I can relate to this situation quite a bit; even the arranged marriage part unfortunately. He also just came out with it and addressed the issue of class difference between the rich and poor. Yeah things are not looking so great for WilliamxEmma. |

Ep 7 So pretty much a date episode. Went fairly well and it was nice of Hakim to cover for William. Feels like Eleanor is getting lead on at this point though. Ep 8 So as expected William's family didn't take very well to Emma being his potential wife. His father came down on him pretty hard. I mean it's all very practical considering the time period. We only got about 4 episodes left so looks like things are gonna get interesting from here on, doubt William and Emma can make it work though. Lastly the Mistress' death was quite a blow to Emma... |

Episode 5 It was super interesting to get some backstory on Kelly. She's a really cool character, even though she's strict. @LoneWolf I'm not surprised at arranged marriages because people were very concerned about keeping appearances for society and Victorian literature documents this in fiction, so I'm guessing it's based on some historical fact. Episode 6 Well, that was distressing to watch! Although their feelings are advancing and their relationship was starting to have hints of developing, this came onto William and Emma. I'm looking forward to see what they'll do to be together. I wonder if this new tendency for female education that was mentioned in the market will have something to do with it. |

Ep 9 William was so close to telling Eleanor about Emma... I kinda wish he just went through with it. It's pretty sad to see how hard Eleanor is vying for William's attention with the corset and stuff though. William still has his heart set on Emma and Emma is taking some time to mourn the Mistress. Ep 10 Emma is really going through a hard time... Viv showing up and yelling and her and William causing a scene with her outside really didn't help. I'm not really sure what the point of that scene with Eleanor at the dinner table was? Maybe I just wasn't paying attention, but it seemed kind of random. Only 2 episodes left and we got an iconic "chasing the girl" scene... looks like William wasn't quite fast enough though lol. |

Ep 11 So pretty much this episode was focused on Emma's past and revealing it to William. William in this case seemed a bit spooked by the poverty and hard times Emma had to go through. It was pretty daunting seeing her almost getting sold to a whorehouse, but it was great that she got taken in by the maids. Also it makes sense why she was so sympathetic towards the flower girls in the previous episodes. I was suspecting she was in a similar situation in her past. Ep 12 Dam was that really the finale for the first season? Felt like one hell of a cliffhanger. So yeah shes gone off now, I think to her original home village... I have no idea what she plans to do there though. William is probably gonna follow her and Eleanor was to wait? Seriously, Eleanor just needs to give it up lol. I guess we gotta watch the next season to get any sort of real conclusion, but yeah 6/10 for this season from me. |

Episode 7 They had an amazing date. I really like of how much an enabler the old lady is, but there's also this sense of doom looming even though they had such nice moments together, sigh Episode 8 So many death flags! I didn't want to believe it though, I was expecting the best, so naive... Kelly's death and Mr. Jones' reaction to finding out about Emma made this episode really sad and gloomy Episode 9 Eleanor grew on me quite a lot. At first she seemed really childish, but now she seems different, naive and pure but not demanding. I hope the situation can be cleared up with her soon so she won't keep her hopes high anymore, even if she continues to pine. Episode 10 What a sad episode, Hakim said some pretty inspiring things though, but William's family were a bunch of pricks to Emma, poor thing. @LoneWolf I think the point of Eleanor's dinner scene was to show that she's not eating because she's depressed about her unrequited love? |

Episode 11 I wonder if hearing about Emma's past was really that much of a shock to William. The first season doesn't seem to have resolved much. It was really scary to see that she was just taken from the road and she had to fend for herself from such a young age. Episode 12 That was a very bittersweet ending, way more bitter than sweet, but I remain hopeful for the next season, at least. I enjoyed the show and the characters a lot, but I was dissatisfied with Kelly's death. I'm still giving it a 7/10. |

Ep 1 (s2) So looks like Emma is more or less settled in her new life. I thought she would be returning to her birthplace, but shes just a maid in another place now. Looks like EleanorxWilliam is much more likely to be a thing now, especially with Eleanor taking more initiative. Also glad Nanette is okay, I imagine Emma will be forced back into a situation with William again at some point, but for now seems like we're just gonna be chilling at this house with her. Ep 2 (s2) Not really much to say here. It seems like Hans kinda might have a thing for Emma. Emma herself seems to be reminiscing a lot about the past. She hasn't seem to have gotten over William, but shes slowly getting used to her new life. |

Episode 0 This was very charming! Although it was just a summary episode that included the highlights of the first season, they added some dialogue and involved some of the characters to make it a bit fresh. Episode 1 (s2) I like the fact that Emma seems to be working at a new place, the number of maids and stuff makes for interesting situations. I'm looking forward to see what will happen this season. It seems Emma and William still haven't gotten over each other. The designs are also looking a little nicer, or maybe it's just my impression? Episode 2 (s2) So Hans seems to be taking an interest in Emma! And Eleanor is taking a lot of initiative, it might pay off, but I must say it's quite frustrating to watch her putting herself out there so much when William is clearly not interested. It's been just a month too and William's family is expecting that he got over Emma so fast. Episode 3 (s2) Oh boy! So Emma got to meet William's mom without knowing it. I'm quite interested in how that might bring the two of them together again, but it seems now that William is more willing to consider Eleanor... not sure how I like that yet. |

Ep 3 (s2) Looks like the EleanorxWilliam ship slowly leaving the docks, but it's obvious there are still a lot of lingering feelings between Emma and William. Also meeting William's mom was also pretty cool. I'm feeling kinda bad for Eleanor though, hopefully she at least meets someone else, since the show isn't called Victorian Romance Eleanor lol. Ep 4 (s2) Dam Eleanor's sister is living the good life and she doesn't seem to let much get in her way. It's great that shes looking out for her sister, her approach is definitely quite unorthodox. It did lead to William's proposal though... Not sure how well this is going to turn out. Also it seems like Emma wasn't able to get out of coming to London, despite her efforts. I imagine a timely encounter will be happening soon. |

Ep 5 (s2) Well.... so much for Eleanor x William. That was one hell of a reunion. I guess it was inevitable. Not really much else to say, yeah I didn't think it would be such a direct confrontation, but at least no one else at the part recognized Emma, so there wasn't that much of a scene caused. Ep 6 (s2) The engagement isn't going to last much longer. Eleanor is definitely feeling the distance. Mrs. Jones past was interesting and they seem to be forshadowing something going on with Hans. I don't really feel like Hans x Emma is going to be a thing though... but yeah I guess we'll see. |

Episode 4 (s2) I wasn't very familiar with what was acceptable to wear at the beach. Seeing them in dresses in the water was a bit hilarious. I was extremely frustrated by William's marriage proposal, it may have been true that he was starting to get over Emma because of Eleanor, but that still sure was rash. Episode 5 (s2) Ahhh the tension leading up to the moment when they found each other again! I don't know if I'm happy about them seeing each other in these circumstances, but well, I'm pushing through my frustrated feelings and hoping for a good ending. |

Episode 6 (s2) I really liked seeing how William's parents met and getting an explanation to why their mother lives away from home. I guess knowing this I can understand William's father a little more, but I still dislike his ways. Episode 7 (s2) Poor Eleanor is now learning what it means when you insist if a guy doesn't like you. William has decided to stick to his decision though. It seems all their coworkers are pushing for Emma and Hans to become a thing, but I'm really hoping against that, personally. |

Episode 8 & 9 (s2) Ah, I'm kind of frustrated with Hans and Emma interacting because it kind of seems like another romance sub-plot, but now it just seems Hans was trying to be a friend. It's nice Emma wasn't kicked out from her job. I'm also glad Eleanor and William were able to finalize the calling off of their engagement, although Eleanor's father is more vicious than I expected. Hopefully things will get better for the Jones family at some point. Now it's just William's job to sway Emma into marrying him. Episode 10 (s2) Once again Hans is butting in. Oh well. The date was cute to watch, but I was definitely not pleased with his marriage proposal. Well, things moved that way back in the day, I suppose. William's speech was great though, it's amazing to see how much the character has changed since the first ep. Episode 11 (s2) Haha, ofc that things got worse instead of better in their business. At least Emma seems to have found her answer, but I can't believe there's just one episode left! I can't imagine everything being solved so fast. Episode 12 (s2) I guess Emma as still wavering some. Good to see everyone encouraging her and things falling into place flawlessly lol the happy end was such a treat, but I was frustrated a lot during the show, so not sure if it was worth it. I would have liked to see more of their live together and their hardships, not just the happy times with the 4 children. I think I liked the first season a bit more in that sense, but this was a good follow up. Also rating 7/10. |

Ep 7 (s2) Yeah they're really pushing for Emma x Hans, but I honestly don't see any chemistry, at least not from Emma's end. William screwed over Eleanor again in favor of Emma... can this guy not just decide on one of them and stick to it? Ep 8 (s2) Dam William gave it to Eleanor straight.... I mean he kind of already told her before about Emma, but he backtracked, but this time I'm pretty sure he's finalizing it... Also nice that Emma didn't get fired thanks to Hans, I don't like how they'r teasing this ship though. |

Ep 9 (s2) Well William's dad and family pretty much gave him an ultimatum and he just said no. I do feel like it was kind of selfish to throw his entire family under the bus because he wants to marry Emma... idk I guess it was a different time. Proposing to Emma at the end was pretty intense, especially with Hans just chilling there lol. Ep10 (s2) Emma's getting all kids of proposal's. It wasn't too surprising that Hans would throw his hat in the ring, neither was Emma's lack of interesting. Kinda sad he fell into the typical "nice guy" role that I see in a lot of shoujo manga and korean dramas lol. I guess Eleanor kinda played that part on William's side as well though. Obviously William is not gonna give up though and nice to see the engagement between Willian and Eleanor is officially called off. |

Emma ep 11 (s2) Not really much to say, kinda sad that Hans is still holding on lol. Eleanor at least seems to have somewhat moved on? I hope she goes with her sister, shes at least always got something going on. I wasn't really too concerned about the Jones' financial issues with the railroad and what not tbh... looks like theres some fire though. Emma ep 12 (s2) Well it was quite predictable, but fairly enjoyable. The victorian england gimmick was the only thing that really kind of kept me interested as I'm not too huge on romance and drama. I'm glad Eleanor and finally Hans at the end seemed to have moved on. I kinda wish we got a bit more of Hakim though, he was definitely one of the most entertaining parts of the show. I agree just showing the 4 kids was kind of meh... it would be nice to see some of their actual life together. That is kind of the main complaint about romance series in general. It's often about the journey and not the destination. So its all about the couple getting together instead of them actually being together. That's why Oremonogatari was such a breathe of fresh air... but yeah considering it's flaws it was quite enjoyable. still the same 6/10 for me. |
