Sidonia no Kishi
A thousand years into the future, Earth has been destroyed by powerful aliens known as Gauna. Although mankind has fled into space, the giant spaceships they now call home are still constantly being targeted by the strange creatures. Piloting mobile weapon units called "Gardes," humanity is able to take a stand against their adversaries by destroying their cores, preventing the monsters from regenerating their protective shell of placenta.

Within the vessel Sidonia, a boy named Nagate Tanikaze surfaces from its depths for the very first time in his life. With an incredible amount of time clocked into pilot simulators during his isolation deep within the ship, he quickly proves to be an indispensable asset to humanity's defense force. With the opportunity to pilot the legendary Garde Tsugumori, he fights to protect Sidonia from a grim demise.

Crap, only 2 days left and I'm on chapter ~35..

I was really looking forward to reading this since I like the anime ALOT for specific reasons. Was kiiinda disappointed at first, felt like it was going to be one of the rare-ish cases where the anime is better than the manga. But now I'm getting into it I feel as if I have to revise that.

The main problem in the beginning for me is that it is VERY jumbly. And I have watched the anime so I can only imagine how it would be if I hadn't. But it gets better as it progresses.

Art is ranging from great to poor. High points to the sci-fi environment stuff and fights, as well as the gauna. Looks great. Just as in the anime, the character design sucks balls. Only exception is Tsumugi, which probably tops my list of favourite character designs. Looks just amazing.

There are quite a few large scale pictures in this which I'm a bit divided in what I think of. Most of the time it just takes too much effort to actually see what they are supposed to show, so I tend to just skip them. A bit unclear and messy art overall.

The story is aight. Might as well keep it spoiler free. Anime adaption seems to stay true to the manga for the most part. I'm looking forward to see the conclusion of the whole thing, as well as more Tsumugi eye candy. Not really looking forward to some stuff that I didn't really like with the 2nd season of the anime. But is fine.
