Basically me after reading the chapter:

I've mentioned this before somewhere else, but this series has become like a drug, I know it's bad but being addicted to it for more than 10 years I can't stop myself from reading new chapters.

I imagine when deciding on continuing with a gaiden, this it what the creators discussed:
Creator G: Finally the manga ended, did we destroy all characters?
Creator T: Wait, there's Gwendal, we almost forgot about him!
Creator G: No problem, let's just continue with a gaiden then, we'll make sure to completely destroy the good image of Gwendal fans might have.

My thoughts regarding this gaiden:
It started with people spreading rumors about how Gwendal is trying to get an upper hand by engaging his little brother to Yuuri and Gwendal is getting frustrated listening to them. Darn that tsundere brat, even causing trouble for his much respected older brother now. Besides, didn't the whole nation already know about Yuuri and Wolfram's engagement!?

Then Greta comes in along with Yuuri and Wolfram to suggest to hold a cultural festival. Looks like Wolfram is sleep-walking and then falls asleep on the sofa in the background. What was the point of showing him in the first place!?

Gunter was as usual overreacting over what Yuuri suggested, or was he? He seemed different than usual, his reaction wasn't good enough, didn't seem like the usual fanboy Gunter. On top of everything Gunter himself suggested to have a bureikou, seeing how he always keeps up that formal tone and doesn't like anyone including the blond brat talking disrespectfully to his precious majesty, seemed very odd and out of character for him. To top up everything with there was absolutely no reaction from Gunter when Yuuri praised him. What in the world happened to Gunter!? Where is the real Gunter!? We need him back, right now!

Then they start making preparations and then Yozak brings that dried fruit which Murata calls Halloween's kusudama which only has effect on the demons if they eat it raw. Part 1 ends there, honestly, was completely pointless.

Seeing how much they were saying that Gwendal is going to be in trouble, I had already guessed at this point that Gwendal would be eating that fruit.

Coming to part 2, after a tiny recap they start with the day of the festival and Greta's shop is doing well. Seeing that Anissina praises her which for some reason Gwendal thinks that she was talking about him and not Greta. Wasn't it obvious from the context? Showing that Gwendal misunderstood doesn't go down well with me, he isn't that sort of a man!

Then Yozak appears in a maid's costume with the dreaded fruit, the raw one and Gwendal just grabs it and takes a tiny bite.

C'mon that bite was way to tiny for things to turn out like this!

Yup, this gaiden definitely aims at completely destroying Gwendal's image. After the whole ruckus, Gwendal wakes up in his bed not remembering anything and no one seems to want to tell what actually happened and that's kept a complete secret from the readers. Basically Gwendal did something "bad" is what we are supposed to assume.

Anissina was very much pissed off at Gwendal even though she already knows about the effects of eating the fruit raw and it was clearly Yozak's fault for giving it to Gwendal in the first place.

And the last part shows Yozak reporting everything to Conrad. Seriously now, the thing about Conrad's betrayal has neven been solved, since when did those two get the chance to settle things and exchange letters!? Yozak, you traitor, betraying Shin Makoku by giving info to the enemy!!! I don't believe it!

Besides why does Conrad want to come all the way to Shin Makoku hearing about Gwendal when he didn't even come as the messenger which is what Yuuri hoped for. Conrad doesn't seem like his usual self at all, he wasn't happy at the slightest when he received a letter from Yuuri, contrary to it he was complaining about Gunter not teaching him properly but he shows such a reaction to the letter about Gwendal. I've never seen Conrad making such faces.

And the greatest of all. The last part said something like "And that was the second son who was worried about the eldest son and began (his journey) to his home country to investigate (the matter)". Are you sure it's alright for you to give out such a big spoiler!? Or is that simply advertising "Conrad would be there in the next chapter so Conrad fans please buy it"? I don't believe it that the creators have fallen so low! Directly revealing it in the next chapter would be better. Besides is it alright for Conrad who is still on Big Cimarron's side to just casually come and investigate anything, doesn't that make him like a spy!???
