| No. Twilight is a fucking pile of crap with no substance. I don't really like VK (it's just average imao) but at least there is a proper storyline. |
| Moved to series discussion. I've not read/seen Twilight, but I dropped VK after one episode because it was clear from just 20 minutes of it that it would be absolute rubbish with crappy protagonists and a stupid story. I was hoping for something, y'know... good. Like Hellsing or Karin. |
| ? If by related you mean they have vampires, then yeah I guess. I'll tell you, Twilight did not create vampires. It created those sparkly monstrosities, but it didn't create vampires. Anything with vampires doesn't have something to do with Twilight. The only connection the other novels have to Twilight is its popularity. They're pretty much feeding off it. Vampire novels started springing up everywhere because writers aren't just all about the creative process man. They want to make money and if the teenyboppers are going nuts about cheesy romanticized vampires, then that's where the money is. A fad this big will fizzle out eventually if it hasn't started to already and (hopefully) you won't see anything vampire related for a long time (I'm waiting for the Zombie Era personally). Then you have those poor vampire novels who didn't have that initial popularity, so the Twilight fans go on insisting that Twilight came first. As far as I see it, Twilight may have boosted the whole vampire fad, but it's going to kill it just as quickly. |

| Twilight isn't so bad except about the sparkly vampire shit! Seriously, SPARKLES?! Anyways I love Vampire Knight though! It awesome and i will sometimes get pissed when people compare Vampire Knight to Twilight. They are not the same! At least in the anime, they are all tough in someway instead sparkling around and blinding people with the sparkles @_@ |

| It's weird, people snark all the time that Vampire Knight is anime's answer to Twilight, but it's actually a pretty good comparison. The three protagonists are similar (Yuuki and Bella are pathetic, Kaname and Edward are assholes, Zero and Jacob are emo but likeable in comparison to the other option...) and in both series, the supporting cast is WAY better than the main characters. They're both full of gorgeous, scowling, teenage vampires with random powers, they both have a very unhealthy relationship which is loved and coveted by millions of teenage girls...if you compare the anime to the first book, there's no real plot till the end (to be fair, a lot more happens in Vampire Knight than Twilight, but the only real plot arc is the Shizuka Hio thing...) Both series get both too much love and too much hate (srsly, Twilight sucks, but people act as if it's the worst thing everrrr and it's not. It's more like...a 6/10.) Also, they came out in the same year, and iirc VK came out first, and Stephenie Meyer claims she wrote Twilight in three months (explains a lot...)...coincidence? I THINK NOT. (XD; I need sleep.) |
