I feel like I came in without all the information I should have had. Like they expected you to just know some stuff going into it. Sort of like watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood without watching the original FMA. You can extrapolate this stuff, but the original just sets up the basics better than the remake. Did I really mess something up going into this by not watching/reading an anime/manga and not getting all that was going on? How exactly would I go about gathering a better understanding of what happened in this anime?

I too was a bit confused the first time I watched, but the second time I watched it (several years later) I did enjoy it a lot more and understood the whole thing.

So to answer your question, you don't need to watch or read anything else. Maybe rewatch the series? It's actually a very good anime, yet vastly underrated.

You know, I think you're right. I've found that these problems are pretty easily fixed with age.

I'm starting the series and wnat to know it it covers all the source material or I will have to go to the novel/manga to get the rest.
