You like it but THEY hate it

I figured most of us have an anime or manga that we really like but for SOME reason most people (or at least a small but very vocal group) hates it. So here's a thread for y'all where you can rant and post all you want about how you don't get it!

Okay, so the reason I'm even making this thread is 'cause someone was hatin' on .hack//Roots again. I was moderating on dothackers and the thread was titled "A good ole fashion HATE THREAD." Oh you just know good things are comin' with a title like that, don'tcha?
So of course, the guy goes on ranting about why Roots sucks and his reasons are pretty unreasonable and not very well supported... like, saying that the fight scenes suck. UH, DUDE? .hack anime has never been known for their fight scenes, but despite that Roots still has some entertaining stuff. Also, he was complaining about how the script is corny without even bothering to give specific examples... so yeah, his credibility went down for me right there.

Luckily, I wasn't the only one defending Roots. A couple of others posted saying the same things I did, which made me feel better. Plus, I mean honestly, if you're gonna complain about Roots you'd think it would be about all the staring-for-moments-on-end-while-an-insert-song-plays scenes...

The KyoAni Key adaptations (Air, Kanon, Clannad) are pretty contentious because of the moe/insane melodrama. Probably also because some of the fans are a little, er, sensitive about criticism to their favorite series. I think the drama is well done for the most part, though, even if it can be a tad manipulative, to say the least lol.

I don't know about any specific series, but some people I know refuse to accept that there are decent yuri series out there.

The original FMA anime. Full. Stop.

I understand people not liking the different direction it took, however, many of them fail to realize that Hiromu Arakawa herself had input and personally approved of the directions it moved in. So, it's not like they did it with blatant disregard to how she felt about her story. Plus, everyone loves to rant and rave about the manga, which, quite honestly, put me to sleep when trotting around Drachma was in full swing.

I plan on watching Brotherhood on AS, but the original will always have a special place in my heart.
