Wow she's the director? In case you didnt know, she's a big reason why higurashi and umineko were so much worse than their v/n.I never noticed she directed Paris chapter too.. Wow
my expectations for this show has gone down

Hopefully the side directors or someone make this an awesome anime

You complain that Umineko wasn't good or adapted well yet you gave it a 10... :/

Personally, I think she's doing a good job in Finale as she did in Paris Chapter.

Still doesn't change the fact that you gave Umineko a 10 either :P.

Regardless, this type of anime is more of her niche anyway which she's easily proven with Hanasakeru Seishounen and Nodame Cantabile Paris Chapter. You shouldn't base your score or opinion all on the director.

Actually, she got replaced in HanaSei (director switched in episode 21); most people think it's because the author wasn't happy with how Kon was handling the anime.

But so far I've thought that Finale has been fine, it follows the manga pretty faithfully and I don't see any reason for people to be complaining yet.

Also @kaena, if you didn't even notice that she was the director of Pari-Hen, then what is making you so upset that she's handling the last season too? If Pari-Hen was to your standards, what makes you think she's going to mess up Finale?

Actually, Chiaki Kon's own episodes have been very good, which makes her one of the best "side directors" for the series. Paris Ep. 1 and 10 are outstanding as is the Finale OP sequence (and IMO, Finale Ep. 3 flowed much better than the previous two).

Overall, I think Kon does a decent job with Nodame (running time limitations are the real problem). Simpler romantic comedies seem to be good matches, and for a change, she actually directs individual episodes instead of delegating everything.

She is a mediocre director, nothing more, nothing less. She does acceptable jobs, but nothing that she does lives up to the original material.

On the other hand, the director for season 1, Kasai Kenichi, turns almost everything he does into masterpieces... Which in turn just makes Kon Chiaki look worse in Paris-hen and Finale.
