A television anime adaptation of Ichigo Takano's science-fiction romance manga Orange has been green-lit. Hiroshi Hamasaki (Steins;Gate, Terraformars) is directing the anime at TMS Entertainment and Telecom Animation Film, and Yuuko Kakihara (Chihayafuru 2) is writing the scripts. Nobuteru Yuki (The Vision of Escaflowne, Kids on the Slope) is designing the characters. The series will premiere this summer.

The April issue of Futabasha's Monthly Action magazine will publish a special edition one-shot manga of Orange in February 25.

Seven Seas Entertainment is publishing the original manga in North America, and it describes the manga's story:

Everyone has regrets in life. So who wouldn't take the chance to change the past if given the opportunity? When sixteen-year-old Takamiya Naho receives a mysterious letter, claiming to be from her twenty-seven-year-old self, her life is suddenly thrown into flux. The letter tells her that a new transfer student by the name of Naruse Kakeru will be joining her class, and to keep her eye on him. But why? Naho must decide what to make of the letter and its cryptic warning, and what it means not only for her future, but for Kakeru's as well.

Takano (Yume Miru Taiyō) began the shōjo manga in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret magazine in 2012, but moved it to Futabasha's seinen magazine Monthly Action in 2013. Takano ended the manga in the October issue of Monthly Action on August 25. Futabasha published the fourth compiled volume of the manga on February 20, 2015 and published the fifth and final volume on November 12. The series has collectively sold over 4 million copies. Crunchyroll publishes the manga in English digitally. Seven Seas plans to release the complete series in two omnibus volumes.

The manga already inspired a live-action film starring Tao Tsuchiya (live action Rurouni Kenshin, Library Wars), Kento Yamazaki (Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu, Death Note live-action series), and Ryō Ryūsei (Zyūden Sentai Kyoryuger) as Haruto Suwa last December.

I hope the anime's successful and will not be ruined unlike the other shoujo series being adapted to anime.
