Regarding the new Unicorn series...

MSG U Re0096 first episode has come out on crunchyroll. Is it smarter to watch The original Unicorn or will that spoil all of re0096 plotline. Is this just another interpretation of the original? Or do I miss out on anything if i dont watch the original first?

I'm assuming it's just the same thing but an abridged rundown of the major events with a couple of new moments spiced in. A lot of anime film/OVA series do this for TV adaptations.
