After finishing the series and getting over my initial disappointment with the character introduced as (another) seventh at the end of the last episode (whom seemed a little out of place for the time setting, if you asked me) I began thinking.

The entire series seemed to have been set-up really well for one specific person; Adlet Mayer. Now, before you tell me it's mere 'plot convience', here me out a bit.

What if we assume that Adlet Mayer himself is the real seventh? We have heard a fair deal about his past, except for the fact that his village was taken by Fiends and that he had a hash training under the old man. But what if part of this was a lie? Yes, he did encounter Fiends, but something during this encounter lead him to his current actions. It could range from some sort of deal with the Fiends, to actually having gained the same desires he would have later on implanted on Nashetania.

True, the first bit isn't very solid, but I personally believe this next part might be explained better with it. Nashetania has been shown as a princes without any 'street experience' that takes her chance to run away with Adlet as soon as she finds out that they are both Braves. From then, she spends 10 days traveling with him. This gives Adlet 10 days to talk new ideas into her, or even to work some sort of magic out to her. It would have given him enough time to convince Nashetania to take the actions she took.

This would also explain Goldov her behavior towards her. Sure, he may be jealous of Adlet, but what if there was more. What he truly sensed a change in her? A change for the worst that was made by Adlet. It would explain why his loyal character (and if you ask me, more calm then to start envying Adlet without any real reason) still allows him to behave as he did.

Later on in the series, with Nashetania under his plan/power, he meets Flamie. This would become his second 'target'. During a lot of the rest of the series, he tries to win over her trust, defending her physically and verbally from the others. We all see how successful this ends up to be, even though it was hard.

The theory that Adlet is the Seventh would also put the meeting with Hans in a totally different context. This may have been his one sole screw-up. He may have been prepared for a lot of near-death situations with powers we do not (yet) know he posses, but not for that one. He is not confused that Hans calls himself the Seventh, because he is too afraid he screwed up and will actually die at that point. Sure, he would be confused that Hans says to be the Seventh while he had set up Nashetania to be the Seventh, but would this be shown over the actual fear of dying because he had made his first real screw-up?

Taking it from there, another difficult thing to explain would be his other near-death encounters... But most of the real attacks that managed to hit him were from Nashetania. If she had been 'in' his plans from the beginning, he would have known she wouldn't hit any of his vitals and only attacked him for the act. The fact that she is a great actor is shown by the way she goes full-on yandere (yangire?) mode when she tries to kill Adlet. She was already the Seventh at this point, so she would not have harbored such feelings or hatred, meaning that it was all a well executed act.

However, the most important question. What did he achieve? None of the Braves are dead. All survived. And they all trust him. They let him take the lead. That could have been the real plan. When we conveniently see yet another brave show up, the remaining Braves immediately start to distrust the other braves, but not Adlet. He had a position in which he is the sole person that is trusted by all, while the remainder is heavily distrusting towards each-other. In short; it is perfectly set-up in a way that allows him to take the lead. Plot-convenience? I like to believe it isn't, and that this series has a secret plot behind it.

The remaining questions: what happened that made Adlet wish to take the lead? Is he really siding with the Fiends (which could potentially be explained from his encounter with them in the past) or does he have other plans? Does he wish to live in peace with them like Nashetania did? How did she get convinced of these ideals (if they were taught by him)?

Please let me know your idea's, theories and answers. Also, it seems highly likely that I may have missed out on other evidence supporting or attacking this theory that I'd love to hear. Anyways, thank you all for taking the time to read this and have a nice day.

But that would mean he would betray Flamie and that's just no good ;_____;

On a more serious note, what you say is super cool to think about. I'd hate it, but maybe that's the overlying plot of the LNs?
