I know it's a frequently discussed topic, but i would like to hear your opinions as well. For those who don't know what it's about(though i know most of you do), In Flames' music can be put into 2 different era's: Pre Reroute to Remain, and post Reroute to Remain. With the Reroute to Remain album, In Flames changed their sound and style, and divided the fans in 2 groups, the old stuff lovers (The Jester Race, Whoracle, Colony and Clayman), and the new stuff lovers (Reroute to Remain, Soundtrack to your Escape and Come Clarity). So, which do you like better?

As for me, i'm an old stuff lover. I like their old melo-death sound just way better then their new stuff. I don't really like their new albums because of that. Don't get me wrong, they're ok...but the old stuff just sounds way better to my ears =)

Actually it was a smooth style change, for example "Ordinary Story" or "Pinball Map" sound quite "modern" IMHO. Like Anders said: "It`s impossible to write such album as STE without Jester Race or Clayman behind you”
New albums, especially "Come Clarity" are more "open" to average listener. On Moscow gig everybody was singing "Take This Life"? while on "Graveland somebody asked me: "Hey, man, what’s that song?" But popular doesn’t mean bad – there’s plenty of awesome songs on last three albums and after listening to “Disconnected” and “Mirror’s Truth” I`m quite sure that new record will be fabulous.
As I said before, I like all of IF albums, but I admit that Clayman and following CDs are getting to my player a lil more often =)

Well, I like the new and the old. The new album A sense of purpose is pretty much different from the others. It's not that heavy, but it's still good. My favorite album would be Colony.

Old. Reroute to Remain and Come Clarity are somewhat 'OK' albums tho.
But A Sense of Purpose and Soundtrack to Your Escape are just sad.

Jester Race > All, for me.

I like old In Flames far more than the new. I saw them at metaltown and there I heard the A Sense of Purpose album for the first time. It was... boring...
Other than the old awesome stuff, I've listened a lot to Reroute to Remain and Come Clarity. They're okay, but nothing compared to TJR and Lunar Strain. :)

On another note, I don't think death metal and sing-a-long do well together. And, what's up with the lyrics? "Don't tell me, tell my ghost!" bhaha.

Both, but leaning more to the good ole stuff, mainly Whoracle and Clayman. New isn't bad at all, though, Evil in a Closet is one of my favorite songs of theirs.

Prefer the old era. After they did that new sound I just kinda stopped paying attention to any new releases by them.
Forum signatures are annoying.
