| It’s that time again, when the Anime 360 crew gives their yearly awards for anime movies watched together during our weekly club meeting. We made through four years of the good, the bad, and the ugly of anime movies, but this year is different, this is the year that we close the book of the Anime 360 movie club. SAY IT ISN’T SO!!!, well it is so this is the finale and I for one am glad for the honor of writing this down for posterity for as long as myanimelist.net stays active. We were first a group of people who while we cool with each other either though video game playing or friends of friends we came together as Anime 360 when we allowed anime, the one thing we all watched to be the glue that brought us together as a club practically every Sunday. At our highest point we had seven members and allowed anyone and everyone who could accept anime, not just as cartoons, but as an art form made in a different part of the world with a diverse beautiful culture that many of us club members wouldn’t have known existed without Japanese animation to show as the way. Work and time constraints whittled our club numbers to three persons that could make the club every week and then there were those members that bless their hearts made time for the club when they could. But, how can a club be a club with just one or two or three people showing up to the movie viewings as the variety of our movie end discussion was lost without the diversity we once had, so the club as a whole decided to close up shop. Our final meeting included all seven club members as we reminisced about the old days and tried to figure out what movies would get what awards. The Mayans may have been wrong about 2012 being the end of the world, but on 12/16/2012, a small infinitesimal world did end the world of Anime 360 and while they might be reunions and we may continue to be friends, allies, and compatriots in our anime endeavors our four year club streak has come to end. Now on to the yearly awards… For a movie that even though it was shown during the year when the club tried to remember what the movie was about we all drew blanks. Most forgettable movie award goes to … Onigamiden or Legend of the millennium dragon. (a CAV9 pic) For a movie that while it wasn’t the best movie it was completely memorable for other reasons. Most memorable movie award goes to … (yet to be announced) For a movie that had the most confusing plot or ending. Most convoluted movie award goes to … (yet to be announced) For a movie that was the worst of the worst as this year was concerned. Most horrible movie award goes to … Mari Iyagi or My beautiful girl Mari (a CAV9 pic) And last but not least, For a movie that shown the brightest in story and animation of all the movies in the past year. Between seven members three votes went to Tokyo Godfathers and three votes went to Summer Wars and the last vote was undecided because that club member wasn’t their for the first two years of the club, so they never watched either movie and a tie had occurred … so to any anime watching persons that may happen across this post do your self a favor and watch both movies and decide for us. |
