I live in germany but I'm actually from Russia (siberia to be exact):
The English word "Germany" derives from Latin name Germania. The name "Germania" came into use after Julius Caesar adopted it from a Gallic term for the peoples east of the Rhine that probably meant "neighbor"
Germany, officially the Federal Republic of Germany (German: Bundesrepublik Deutschland, pronounced , is a country in Central Europe. It is bordered to the north by the North Sea, Denmark, and the Baltic Sea; to the east by Poland and the Czech Republic; to the south by Austria and Switzerland; and to the west by France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
The territory of Germany covers 357,021 square kilometers and is influenced by a temperate seasonal climate. With 82 million inhabitants, it accounts for the largest population among the member states of the European Union and is home to the third-largest number of international migrants worldwide.
A region named Germania inhabited by several Germanic peoples has been known and documented before AD 100. Beginning in the 10th century, German territories formed a central part of the Holy Roman Empire that lasted until 1806. During the 16th century, northern Germany became the centre of the Protestant Reformation. As a modern nation-state, the country was first unified amidst the Franco-Prussian War in 1871. In 1949, after World War II, Germany was divided into two separate states—East Germany and West Germany—along the lines of Allied occupation.
Germany was reunified in 1990. West Germany was a founding member of the European Community (EC) in 1957, which became the European Union in 1993. It is part of the Schengen zone and adopted the European currency, the euro, in 1999.
Germany is a federal parliamentary republic of sixteen states (Länder). The capital and largest city is Berlin. Germany is a member of the United Nations, NATO, G8, G20, OECD, and the WTO.
It is a major power with the world's fourth largest economy by nominal GDP and the fifth largest in purchasing power parity. It is the largest exporter and second largest importer of goods. In absolute terms, Germany allocates the second biggest annual budget of development aid in the world, while its military expenditure ranked sixth.
The country has developed a high standard of living and established a comprehensive system of social security. It holds a key position in European affairs and maintains a multitude of close partnerships on a global level.Germany is recognised as a scientific and technological leader in several fields.

Novosibirsk (Russian: Новосиби́рск, pronounced is Russia's third-largest city, after Moscow and Saint Petersburg, and the largest city of Siberia. It is the administrative center of Novosibirsk Oblast as well as of the Siberian Federal District. The city is located in the south-western portion of the federal district and occupies an area of 477.2 square kilometres
The city was founded in 1893 at the future site of a Trans-Siberian Railway bridge crossing the great Siberian river of Ob and was named Novonikolayevsk (Новониколаевск), in honor of both Saint Nicholas and of the reigning tsar, Nicholas II. The bridge was completed in the spring of 1897, making the new settlement the regional transportation hub. The importance of the city further increased with the completion of the Turkestan-Siberia Railway in the early 20th century. The new railway connected Novosibirsk to Central Asia and the Caspian Sea.

Speaking off memory here, please forgive any mistakes. Ukraine was first settled by Scandinavian tribes (don't quote me on that, I'm not sure of it) during the middle ages, creating the Kievan Rus', considered the birth of Russia, but ironically began in the capital of Ukraine, Kiev. From it went the Republic of Novgorod, real Russian territory. Later sprung up Belarusian territory (what it was called escapes me). The end of the Kievan Rus', the original build-up of Eastern Slavic culture, came after the Mongol Invasions, considered to be the 3rd deadliest conflict in history. The Poles and Lithuanians then ruled the area. Then, the Cossaks went badass on everyone, saying that we wanted to be independent. Even so, Russia took over. Then we were split between Austria-Hungary and the Russian Empire. When both fell after WWI, it turned into an anarchy, with a bunch of different factions. The Western half of Ukraine then was given to Poland, and the East became the Ukrainian SSR. When the Baltics wanted out of the USSR, Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia also wanted independence. Thus fell the Soviet Union and came up the Republic of Ukraine.
Personal opinions are: our culture is really nice and pretty and festive, our history is fascinating, our politics suck. We had a revolution a few years ago.
The land is great, and apparently one-third of farmland in the world is in Ukraine (don't quote me on that either). Our demographics are terrible and going down. There's a lot of crime, and our President has a criminal record. But, the press is free, as opposed to Belarus. There are human rights, generally.
Ukrainian is the only official language, and we're going through a period of Ukrainian-ism after the USSR, and less and less people are learning Russian. I speak Russian at home and don't speak Ukrainian fluently, myself. The religion is primarily Eastern Orthodox. Our national anthem is "Sche ne vmerla Ukraina", "Ukraine Has Not Yet Perished". Independence day is the 24th of August.
