I watched the original series on Netflix the week before the second season premiered. In the original, after I got used to the CGI, my only complaint was the jerkiness that accompanied the motion. However, it feels that in S2, the animation has improved as a whole. Unfortunately, I can't tell entirely because it also may be a result of getting used to the CGI.

Does anyone else feel that as a whole the animation has improved greatly in season 2? And if so, any thoughts as to why?

It definitely did improve, but I think most of the improvements happened during the first season and the second season's animation quality is largely the same as the second half of the first's.

Either way, it's definitely not just a case of getting used to it. I rewatched the first season when the second started and I remember thinking those first few episodes were as jerky as the first time I saw them.
