| So we have a gaming thread, but not one for vns yet? Yurusanai! There's a thread that tries to include almost everything, but most people will probably just discuss anime there. So I thought a thread to talk about your favorite visual novels and recommendations would be more interesting and appropriate. Perhaps we can start by sharing our top 5 visual novels (or however many you want) and favorite genres. I guess we can safely leave F/SN out of the list because herp derp, but do whatever you wish. |

| My favorite vns: MuvLuv Alternative Ever17 Remember11 Kara no Shoujo Honoroble mentions: Steins;Gate - I'm a huge fan of the series, but the anime was so good that for some reason I don't feel compelled to include the novel itself among my absolute favorites. The story definitely is, but I don't think the novel adds much and the system wasn't very intuitive. But the story is still amazing anyway. 999 - This one was pretty cool. The development until you get to the final puzzle was nice as well. But what you find out as you get to the final puzzle isn't nearly as good as anything from the Infinity series in my opinion. As for my favorite genres, it's definitely a mix of mystery, sci-fi, and mind screw. Not hard to guess, huh? I also like tragic and gory stories like KnS quite a bit, but I haven't found anything quite like it (except for its prequel - Cartagra). I guess it's really one of a kind. I also really like slice of life/romcom like Grisaia and a few others when they're well done. How about you? What are you favorite visual novels? |

| Hm, let's see... MLA Kara no Shoujo Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo (I wish more Akabei Soft2 works were translated) Steins;Gate Chaos;Head I'm actually quite a big Key fanboy, but even so I find it hard to put any of their work in my top favorite list, since all of their VNs tend to have something in it that irks me horribly. Like the horribly abrupt ending of Little Busters or how the "main route" of Rewrite was mainly a mixture of "meh" and "wtf". That was an interesting thing about Rewrite, btw. Usually the main route tends to contain much more feelz compared to side routes, but here every side route surprised me a lot with how much I enjoyed them. Even those that I thought I'd absolutely hate. Also Overdrive works tend to be my guilty pleasure. Well any solid romcom stuff is. G-senjou, Coμ, stuff like that. |
