| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- What an action-packed episode. Those extraordinary bike stunts, the sword duel, and Diva's laser cross. One wonders how they went about chaining themselves up. A battle in the waves - some mention of Miyamoto Musashi, and really, one has to fear Hyouma's fearlessness, leaping into an unknown challenge like that. If Garuda really was properly underhanded, how our heroes would fall so quickly! Garuda's devotion to his mother is frightening in its childlike conviction - unwavering at the core, but easily swayed as when a quick word from her is all it takes to make Garuda amiable again to a less honourable battle. Or perhaps that's the two sides of Garuda - the naive warrior who seeks honour in his struggle and the monster inside who revels in destruction. The sword duel was very intense - for a moment I thought Garuda really might bite it here. It would've been a memorable way to go, but it seems he'll be the bringer of destruction for a while yet. Garuda's love for his mother is replicated in Miea's devotion to him, and it'll be interesting to see how the rest of these elements are handled. |
