| Let me try this posting topic thing one more time....For me, a band or song becomes my favorite because it strikes a chord with me (strikes an emotional response). Examples for me would include the Smiths "How soon is Now" or the Prodigy's "Rainstorm", or anything by Portishead. These songs either remind me of a specific instance in my life or more importantly, generates an emotional response. How about you? What songs drive you? Is there any on song/genre that motivates you or is nostalgic for you? |

| Another example. My first girlfriend was obsessed with Depeche Mode. Listening to them always reminds me not only of her but the "joy" of budding romance. While in school I used to hang with a group of friends and do "recreational things" while listening to Portisehead. I'm not sure if I love the band for the music or for the memories their songs conger up. Or when I'm super pissed at the world, Mudvayne and/or Slipknot resonates with me. |
