| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Mostly clips and so a waste of time for anyone who has been recently watching the TV series. This was a kind of thing that could be made in the '80s as home video was new and not nearly as prominent as it would become later. Video cassettes are not a good format for TV series (especially a long one) as far too many would be required. For this reason edited compilations of clips from TV series on a single tape could actually sell as there was no other way to own a part of the series. |
| Thanks for pointing this out. I was just thinking how ripped of the persons who bought this episode in the 80s must have felt... How could I even forget this seeing how much space the boxes of VHS tapes from the 90s are taking in my attic.. Now this episode at least makes some sense. |
| Pretty much recaps from the series. Not really worth watching this right after finishing the main series as it will be just the same thing over again but then heavily cut or told from a different perspective. |

| It's mostly just recaps. Bit disappointing. But it was interesting to see the old artstyle contrasted with the newer style. The animation quality certainly improved. Hoping the rest of the OVAs are more original. |
| BTW anyone knows the name of the insert song starting @1:42? Edit- It's 'Triangle Love Letter'. You can find it if you just search for it. |
| Finally decided to hit the OVAs after finishing the main series, and apparently this one came out within the show’s runtime which I didn’t realize until after I finished it so oops lol, but it wasn’t really a big deal because this was 90% recap with the remaining 10 being some new stuff where Ryoko organizes the tea party and the group begins telling stories about some particularly fun episodes, all the ones that were shown were great ones and some of the jokes actually got me a 2nd time lol, a personal favorite of mine was when Mendou went straight down the entire giant Christmas tree lol, I’m pretty sure it got me when I first watched it too. And of course I enjoyed some Ryoko focus here, she seemed to kinda disappear near the end of the main show so I just like getting more of her, even if it’s a recap lol. And it is a bit of a shame this first episode is a recap, and apparently the 2nd one is too but I still gotta watch em because I’m a completionist in a sense lol, that and I haven’t seen some of these episodes in a while so seeing them again isn’t something I’m against. And lastly the new song in the beginning was a good one, sounded like Take on Me at first lol. |
