| I agree, the overall vision of the show is vibrant and modern, BUT the design appears old and unconventional. That's because Morishima Akiko is a yuri mangaka with shoujo roots, and it shows pretty clearly in her art. In fact, her style has gotten a lot less shoujo in recent years IMO, and in the anime it's a lot less pronounced. It's definitely not your typical shounen-esque character design. I think it's pleasant and comparatively fresh, though normally I don't actively seek out Morishima's art, and I can totally understand why some people are put off by it. |
