This is a pretty common debate in the anime community, among with a few others that are very heated. In a friendly manor, I wanna hear your guys personal thoughts on this topic. Which anime is better.

I guess I should start by saying that I believe that Log horizon is better.
-NPC's matter
-Feels like an MMO
-Shows understanding of strategy and politics
-Characters are meaningful and fleshed out. (Some of them anyways)
-No overarching story (This is a good and a bad thing)
-Epic soundtrack, even more epic than SAO's. (Which is saying something)
Those are the basic reasons. I can elaborate on them more later if requested

While I also believe Log Horizon is better, SAO does have one thing I love:its soundtrack composed by yuki kajiura is phenomenal, which really contrasts with the actual anime. Sorry for the one-sided debate currently, but this club only has two members.

Log Horizon and Sword Art Online are two similar yet different anime and although both Log Horizon and Sword Art Online has their own faults, I would like to say that in my own opinion, I believe that Log Horizon was by plenty of points the better amongst the two.

For my argument, I would like to talk about the Characters in the story, mostly regarding the main characters in each series, Shiroe from LogHora and Kirito from SAO. Kirito is a very strong ((slightly OP)) character, Kirito uses his strength to fight and could easily take down enemies. However, because of this, Kirito often has the spotlight while other characters are left as more background characters with less character development. From LogHora is Shiroe, a character who chooses the weak class of an enchanter which is far from being a strong class on its own. This way, Shiroe will have to be able to cooperate with his comrades well and to use his mind to be able to fight. This allows far more character development, which SAO seems to lack.

That is all I'll be saying so far and that is a small portion of why I most strongly follow the idea that Log Horizon is, by many points, better that Sword Art Online.
