Nice, they got along with the action pretty quick. I like it. OST got better too imo.
Hell, even watching Tetra fighting was amusing. Overall a good solid fashioned raid. I haven't seen one of these in awhile. Lol, Demi-demi and his wyvern kick. What a boss.
I didn't know it was Christmas time as well. Only a few more months until Xmas is here...
Many level of the dungeon that everyone's familiar of, but with hidden areas. Many hard monsters, including fighting against the bird that stone players and keep retreating. 60 secs., huh.
That idol player is annoying in funny way as always, but is useful for healing. That guy who has grudge is still active. So that naming was the point that angered him?! lol.
Back to Akiba and Christmas time. Guden? Assassin girl wants to solve it for improving herself. Wait, that someone at the end... Cannot wait to find out who (enemy?).
I ♥Two Syaorans from Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE and TRC!!!
Well for those who said that the first season lacked Action, they certainley got their wish in this episode and in the next few episodes wll get more for sure.
Wow the full mechanics of a raid were explained so well. it makes me want to try one. i mean i played some MMOs but i never got a chance to actually participate in a raid before i really want to try it.
Oh William u never cease to amaze me how self righteous u are. but he needs to give himself some credit.
So the official word for Overskills are called 'Teachings'.
They skipped the part of the tea party and dressing Lenessia in a nurse outfit just a brief image was shown. why damn it.
Also oh hell yeah the Murderer of Akihabara is coming. this Christmas is going to be bloody.
Some awesome actions in the beginning with the raid. Shiroe's narration makes life easier by explaining everything that's going on.
William's admiration for Shiroe was nice to see. He's slowly becoming one of my favorites. (^^)
Democracy-san can't contain himself anymore. For one thing, he's quite prideful, but he should really calm down and try getting back at Shiroe with nickname jokes. XD
Tetra's silly antics are pretty cute! Is she getting attached to Naotsugu a bit too much though? Potential (romance) rival to Marie. :p
A bit about the new "Teaching" skill, which I bet Shiroe has already acquired. I don't think the others necessarily need it though.
Good episode. That white-haired guy from the last episode is probably going to be the new villain. Akibahara is in potential danger? O.o
I really enjoyed that raid, it served as a reminder that this really was a game. I loved how familiar it was all to me, all the terms I like.
Some nice bit of character development for William, I'm really starting to like his character.

If he could he wouldn't be so hostile. He knows that he loses automatically to Shiore when intelligence is at stake, and he was consoling himself by showing that he was strong. But then he found out that many of his victories were coming because of Shiroe. That is enough to make anyone with any pride mad, think of a child who for the first time wins at something important to them, only to later discover that their parents had helped them.
yalvyn said: Then again, with the stupid concept of Aincrad (all melee, no class, no equality) any kind of strategies seem impossible.
It wasn't "stupid". Don't forget that the designer had a specific purpose for creating the game the way he did, he wanted levels, he wanted melees, he certainly didn't want equality among the players. He wanted them to battle out so that the good ones would rise to challenge him. He had no care for the large majority of players who either didn't or couldn't try.
So if the game had been actually invented, perhaps its actual sales would tank and from a marketing pov it would have been stupid, but for the goal of the creator it was the perfect game.
Good episode, shows how data dumps should be handled, during action scenes, with only occasional sitting or standing around doing things. Wish Mahouka had done it this way.
The art work I think has gotten a better this episode, though I expect the same DEEN haters to hate, I've gotten use to it. Once again good characters and good plots are what people want, it can absorb the art.
I was geeking out during the raid explanation. Tanks pulling aggro, dedicated damage dealers, rangers and mages in the back row, support team healing and buffing the team and also debuffing the enemy...this is how you do a show with an MMO game as its central theme.
A lot of them kept dying so that means a lot of lost memories. What's scary is that they don't know which memories they lost.
Lenessia nurse! Marielle and Henrietta found a new toy haha.

==Party 1 - Vital defense preventing severe attacks==
* The first party, it is referred to as the main shield party. This party is the first defensive post (main tank), warrior roles in party play are to be expected. In other words the entire party is in charge of detaining the large boss, drawing and enduring the fierce attacks alone.
* Usually the first party would have 3 healers to raise survivability, since the strategy involves many two-front battles for <Abyssal Shaft>, however in this case it it compensated by 2 guild members with high proficiency.
* Azakea is around to support with <Phantasmal Heal>, one of the few recovery magics from a magical attack class, wide area support songs and recovery magic from combined with support from other parties, the first defensive post can endure severe attacks of the raid rank enemy. Protection from Ukiyo and Touko are the core tactic of this party, using strengthened wide range defensive magical spells like <Sacred Wall> and <Dispelling Barrier>, it is the most important part of <Silver Sword>'s defense.
* Dinkuron is the center of the party, and obviously the first defense. Wearing Phantasmal-class armor and shield <Byakuya no Kouheki>, his defensive ability is currently top class in the server, leading the way into <Abyssal Shaft> raid as the best immovable shield.
==Party 2 - Search-and-kill unit that roams the battleground==
* Second party, referred to as the search-and-kill unit. This is the secondary defense post (sub-tank), the party is arranged in a balanced offensive and defensive manner, they are in charge of covering enemies missed by the first party or unexpected reinforcements. There is insufficient information on <Abyssal Shaft>, so this party is often the reconnaissance force.
* The configuration of the party is set up in 2 pairs of Warrior and Healer for emphasis on survivability, they are also supposed to serve as the sub-tank party so they often fight on two fronts. From the perspective of <Silver Swords>, Shiroe, Naotsugu, Tetra and Demikas are put together as a guest party that are more than adequate to be part of the raid as a result of their high individual abilities, it's said that this was only possible due to Naotsugu's taunt work.
* Although the second party is a strange gathering, their key to victory is when each perform their individual roles to create balance their in combinations.
==Party 3 - Snipers who target and destroy strong enemies==
* Third party, referred to as the strike force. It is focused on efficiency of damage, weapon attacks are the core of this boss attack party. On the other hand, the defense of this party is considerably lower. It can be said that this is a sign of complete trust in the the first and second party.
* With the support of Pianississimo, and under the command of William, the highlight is the cascade of power as they launch concentrated attacks of arrows and magic from behind the raid boss class enemy.
* The warrior and and healer position in this party have to deal with the least amount of enemies, this party composition puts emphasis on attack rather than defense. With this configuration the DPS (means damage per second. A term for the attacking forces in raids) of this party is the highest among the 4 parties.
* Naturally <Silver Sword>'s guild master William is the center of this party. The HP of every enemy is shaved off by the tremendous force of skills like <Rapid Shot> and <Spark Shot> which are at Secret-rank, fired from the Phantasmal-class bow <Shoot the Moon>.
* Not only does he use the full abilities of the , William also gives instructions during the fight and observes the surroundings.
==Party 4 - Magical unit excelling in wide area annihilation==
* Fourth party, strike force that mainly deals with annihilation of enemies that appear around the boss.
* There are many types of raid quests where you have to hunt bosses with powerful combat abilities, fights where you have to single out a powerful raid-rank monster in the middle of a melee exists as well.
* To deal with enemies who rely on quantity rather than quality, two are placed in the fourth party. The main strategy of the fourth party is to reduce the amount of enemies using a wide range of area magic attacks from 's PoloRocca and Prometheus, while Eltendiska uses and Nakai Kawatarou uses <Mystic Spell of the Magatama> to deal the finishing blow on enemies missed by the other parties.
* Of course, if it becomes a short distance battle with a single boss, their firepower is surpassed only by the third party.
* Obviously, an enemy with 0 HP will not attack. In other words, high firepower is the best defense and lightens the load on the warrior and healer taking hits, this is essential in raid quests. Additionally, in <Abyssal Shaft> there are time limited situations where you must eliminate enemies before reinforcements arrive, making high firepower even more important
* [with @Akiba in his name] is actually the center of this party. He can double the attack of power of his party with exquisitely timed support using <Maestro Echo>, <Battle Conduct> and <Prelude of Fierce Attack>, it can even be said that he alone can fill the roles of two attack positions.
Credit to sphaela, but names might not be accurate. The strategy of raid in full detail for those interested. (NOT in the LN, and No spoiler here either)
Fighting the raid bosses and the mobs!
Having to escape a wipe and learn slowly on the weakness of a boss.
With limited supply of now 30 days! Two boss down with three or four more.
Tetra is quite the healer, quite amusing to watch her style. Though her style makes it less efficient.
A new level for skills! Maybe Akatsuki would get it from the mysterious npc that appeared at the end!
Good ep. This is pretty much Log Horizon at its best when it goes all in depth on everything. Finally it seems the peaceful days are over where the guild Log Horizon is I wonder how they will handle the upcoming threat?
I also agree that it was a really boring episode, too much talk and the action was mediocre at most. Also the party comp was really bad :| i mean for what raids I've been to, groups tend to be diverse, so that every one has a healer and maybe a tank considering they had 6 (too many), this makes it easier to split up if needed.
Also in what raid can you kill a monster alone, in one hit even, like Demi does. And lastly i was really waiting forward to the boss fights, but they were a real letdown. The only thing they showed were a couple of boss abilities and how everyone got hit by them : rest was talking. Also scenes where they actually fought the boss were really short, and the second one was skipped altogether so ... yea it was boring.

This game uses a classic combat system. It plays like WoW but I would say that its classes are more variant and defined in fact it plays very close to everquest.
I think that's the first anime which managed to convey properly the basics of what are really MMORPG's PvE raids to profanes. That was nice to see. This also managed to show how annoying for the whole raid members with an undisciplined or childish behavior can become lol~.
Interestingly enough, what Demikass does isn't any different from what Kirito does in SAO. The guy is soloing raid opponents and rush the opponent alone without caring about any strategy, even against boss opponents.
It's funny to see the difference of reaction from the SAO player and the LH players toward that behavior. In a MMORPG, a player behaving like demikass or kirito would never get any admiration. Rather than that, he would never get accepted in any PvE guild thinking of chalenging high level encounters.
That guy at the end that we saw during an earlier episode wasn't an adventurer? That's a surprise.

You seem to forget SAO had no ranged classes heck it had no magic at all. I am not saing SAO handled boss fights well. But it is like comparing Apples to Oranges the game mechanics are completely different.
Ah, this episode mhm... That's why I love LH, because when it touches it's MMO part, it does it right and as it's as similar to real MMORPG as it can be shown in Anime. (At least it will be hard to beat it).

more like, while that sao game technology is awesome, the game in itself is an absolutely awful MMO, because the author doesn't know shit about MMORPG's PVE. Furthermore, even without ranged classes, there ar still tanks and dps specialists, yet even with just two "classes" to manage, the author didn't manage to show them working together properly. In the end, that's the difference between an author who know about what he's writting about and one who only knows rapists as boss raid.
As someone who has never played more than a few minutes of any mmo, I really appreciate all of the info-dump that this show gives. To anyone who plays mmos, how long does it usually take to perform a raid in real life?
I find it interesting how new things are being added to the "game" even after the apocalypse. I wonder how powerful that new skill ranking is going to be.

Meh, it's a difference in perspective really. I think you did point it out real well earlier. SAO is more about the solo loners who goes pew pew in PUG's and LH is more about guild interactions and whatnot. Each has their own audience, and is rooted in a real experience. No need to start degrading one at the expense of the other.
