So I've watched both the remakes and the original. And was curious if the Remakes follow the same original story. My knowledge of an existing manga for this, slash that, my knowledge for ANY manga is currently nonexistent. Is is OK to call the remakes authentic? Or is this simple milking of one of, if not "the', most contrivirtual anime in history?

Nobody is really sure if anno is doing it for the art or for money. The manga is set in a world where nobody knows what nerv was.
Shinji feels like he has met Asuka in the past though.

1st movie follows the original, 2nd does a little then it does something new, and 3rd one doesn't

The 3rd completely branches away from the original, from what I've heard.

Wow you guys have opened my eyes. I've been contemplating on whether or not i should rewatch the movies or not. I've seen both the series and movies before with little knowledge of both and the second time around i thought more about it and thought i'd check to forums to make sure. I apologize, i'm still a novice. And thank you for the input.
