I have seen very few users talk about the anime "Souten Kouro" which is one of my favourite anime shows.

What is your opinion on this anime?
If you have not seen it, then I highly recommend it.

It's a great show but I wish it was longer, I don't think the story ended that satisfyingly.

It's one of those shows that took way too long to get subbed when it first came out and when it finally was subbed barely anyone was still aware of it so now it's kind of under the radar.
I probably regret this post by now.

You seem to be on a self-initiated mission to spread word about this anime. So why not tell us more? All I see you post is that it's under-watched and everyone should watch it. Not very convincing. Is the focus on characters or story? Is it more about Cao Cao or the 3 kingdoms? Synopsis says loosely, but how loosely does it follow history, or rather, the lore of the 3 kingdoms? Etc. And historical shows are always under-watched on MAL. It's been on my PTW for a long time.

Also, this belongs in the discussion of said anime.

it looks like yet another madhouse adaptation where the manga has more volumes than the anime has episodes, and generally the genre "historical" is pretty hard to get into

It's very much centered around Cao Cao, has some great large scale battles and stuff. Similar to Kingdom just shorter, with Cao Cao as the MC and without the CGI. Also Cao Cao is portrayed as someone willing to cross into moral grey zones or even beyond for the sake of his greater goal. In that nature it was similar to stuff like LOGH, Death Note or Code Geass so I think people would enjoy it.
I probably regret this post by now.

Sorry for the lack of information.

This anime is one of the most accurate historical anime shows out there, as in it portrays the actual story about Cao Cao who lived during the "Three Kingdoms period of China".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cao_Cao

The story is complex and filled with characters, the dialogue is superb with many philosophical speeches that portray the cast in the anime even better.

The anime was not subtitled until 3 years after it was aired due to the complexity of the storyline, characters and the dialogue.

Looks interesting, but is it in the same league as Hyouge Mono?

It was a great show. Three Kingdoms stuff is usually good.

This is of the most interest to me. Considering who Cao Cao is historically, it is to be expected, but I didn't want to see him romanticized to hell (even more so) to fit the role of a protagonist. "Loosely" was an alarming word to see in the synopsis, considering how loose most 3 kingdoms shows are already.

It's completely different and probably less unique. More about battles, politics and the usual perspective of someone trying to conquer, not the special approach of aestheticism that Hyouge Mono brings to the level. It definitely had good and complex dialogues though as OP mentioned.
I probably regret this post by now.

Somehow I didn't even know about the existance of this, but I'll definitely watch this. I'm a big fan of good historical anime.

It was a great show, I found it enticing. Cao Cao was portrayed with Charisma, and Ambition and ruthlessness.
Lu bu was made to look like a brute and some what dumb,

There were problems with the depiction, but was still entertaining.
I recommend reading a wide range of Three Kingdom manga's with different focuses.

Ravage of time is brilliant. Lu Bu's portray was awesome

Since we're on the topic, it's only been a little over halfway translated into english so far, but Yokohama's iteration, Sangokushi is iconic and well worth a look for history/3 kingdoms fans.
