Outside of the cities there is nothing left, except barren lands, some other cities which roam the world and the filth monsters. Humans can't survive outside without special gear, and even in those suits they have limited oxygen and are as good as dead once the suit gets damaged.
Regios/Cities
Large mobile cities created by humans to live after the earth atmosphere became too polluted to live, are called Regios. Built with a circular foundation for its inhabitants, a city is also surrounded by numerous, huge legs for mobility. Atop of the legs is an air-filter, a membrane of air that covers the city to protect any invasion of contaminants. There is also the mention of Selenium, a special ore that needs to be replenished and has many Regios fight each other for its survivability. Each city is named after the Electronic Fairy that controls the Regios. Most Regios avoid Filth Monsters as much as possible but with the exception of one city, Glendan, which does the opposite as it constantly finds monsters.
There are two different kinds of cities, Academic Cities & General Cities.
Academic Cities are where students from different cities come to learn & study. More than half of the population are students and rarely adults. The functions of an academic city, for example, administration and operation, are relied on the students. Education wise, seniors oversee the tuition of the juniors. Most Academic Cities are members of an alliance known as the Academic Union, which sponsors the InterCity Matches. Whereby, the condition to either win or lose the match, is determined when the city's flag is seized.
General Cities are the main cities where most of the population live.
Due to a treaty, only Regios of the same type are allowed to have a match with each other.
Proto-City Lance Shelled Glendan (Invincible City Glendan)
The most powerful city in the world due to its regular encounters with Filth Monsters of all levels and was the birthplace of the Military Arts, which most other cities practice today. The Twelve Heaven's Blades are found here under the command of the Glendan Royal Family.
Academic City Zuellni
A city governed by its Students Council President and part of the Academic Cities Union. This is where the manga/light novel/anime takes place. Its population is 60,000 and has a six year system, offering education in General Studies and Martial Arts Studies. Inter-Platoon Tournaments are huge events, much like a simulated form of the InterCity-Match. FanClubs are also formed for popular platoon members. Trams are used for transport within the city. Its Electronic Fairy takes the shape of a pale blue, young girl.
Transport City Yoltem
All roaming buses eventually return to Yoltem and most travelers will encounter it during their travels. Only its Electronic Fairy knows the current location of every regios.
InterCity fights
Since Regios needs high quality Selenium to keep operating, there are fights between the cities to get the mines. Between general cities those fights resemble a real war with killing all over the place. While in academic cities the safety locks are not released, therefore normally fatal attacks leave the victim heavily injured but not beyond rescue.
Roaming Buses
These are used for commuting between cities. Roaming buses commute to various cities daily. It is also designed with the purpose of trade in mind. Since travelling outside of the cities is prone to the danger of attacks by Filth Monsters, a detour or a stop for several days are employed. Regardless of the final destination of all roaming buses, it is necessary to travel via Yoltem. However, due to the risk and inconvenience of travelling, most people do not travel to other cities. If the need to travel arises for the purpose of trade between cities, there is the alternative of a caravan.
DITE/Kei
DITE
Weapons used by Kei users. They are small transformable devices when unused but will morph into a weapon when its user activates it by commanding "Restoration". DITEs can take on the forms of various weapons, including crushing swords, spears, rifles, staves, katanas, and many more. Some are even capable to switch to many different types of weapons.
The color of the DITE ore is not random; different colors give different properties to the weapon. For example, Nina's iron whips uses black DITE ore, which has good density with a decreasing conductive rate. Green and white DITE ores are used for speed-based weapons, which was suggested for Layfon's use. People who work on the development of DITEs are called DITE Technicians in Glendan and DITE Mechanics in Zuellni.
Information about the stats for the different DITEs
Durability:
1-2 Will get easily destroyed if hit with another weapon, for example one hit is enough to renter the dite completly useless.
3-4 Can get damaged quite easily if used impropper, even a few hits on the wrong places can complete destroy the dite.
5-6 Already quite durable, will resist most attacks basic attacks without worrying, can take quite a beating before getting destroyed.
7-8 Durable to the point where it can even resist strong attacks without worry, you can fight how you want and only need to be wary of very stong impacts.
9-10 Very durable nearly indestructable, you can fight however you want, if this thing breaks, then you are fighting the wrong opponent and are already dead.
Note: There are techniques which try to destroy/disable the weapon. Those have higher success rates on the lower levels of durability. Kei running through a weapon enhances the durability of the dite, so even a low durable dite can withstand high impact IF the Kei is used correctly.
Do also note that some dites my not be able to sustain large amounts of Kei, higher Kei rate means that those dites can survive larger amounts of Kei.
Even high durability weapons can easily break if used incorrectly. Therefore those stats are simply a suggestion on what will happen. If the mods/admins see that someone goes against this in extreme ways, like releasing high level techniques through a Chrome dite without even a little strain... They will inform you and tell you what you need to change.
Technique - Rot: This move specializes in destroying the opponent's weapon. Layfon hits the opponent's weapon and sends his Kei inside to destroy that. On success the opponent ends up disarmed. (High level technique)
Be also aware that you may need to change the dites throughout the RP, that is no problem, but you need to go to the alchemy section of the city and you will be handicaped until you get the new one and until you got used to it. (Every dite is unique since the adjustments will need to be made individual for each item, two dites will NEVER be completly the same. Same type of weapon and stuff but not the same feeling.)
There are only 12 dites which are indestructable, and those are the Heavens Blades. I will repeat they are not available to any player character.
Kei rate:
The rate of Kei is how strong the material resists the stream of energy. If the value is higher it means you get more power through the weapon towards the target.
Some types of weapons need a high control of Kei, which is only possible with dites, which have a relatively high Kei rate.
DITEs available:
Ruby DITE
Suitable for Skillful users to utilize Kei, it allows more variation (Gorneo, Shante)
Durability: 5
Kei rate: 60%
Bright DITE - Suitable for Nen-i users (Psychic)
Iron DITE
Suitable for Sword users, quite durable and still good Kei use (Layfon, Haia and Derek)
Durability: 8
Kei rate: 40%
Chrome DITE
Suitable for Strong Density Kei & Low Conductivity users (Nina, Sharnid)
Durability: 10
Kei rate: 20%
Emerald DITE
Suitable for Superior Kei Conversion Rate users
Durability: 5
Kei rate: 70%
Sapphire DITE
Suitable for High Conductivity Kei users (Layfon)
Durability: 6
Kei rate: 50%
Lithium DITE
Suitable for High Conductivity Kei guns (Sharnid)
Durability: 1
Kei rate: 120%
Platinum DITE
Suitable for "High Conductivity Kei and strength safeguard", bad for resistance, durability and regeneration. (Dalshena)
Durability: 3
Kei rate: 100%
The values are base stats for the material, if the user knows how to use it, a Platinum DITE can also become nearly indestructible. Durability stands for it's resistance towards external influence, like an attack. Kei rate is how well you own Kei can be used through this weapon.
The Heaven's Blade
The most powerful DITEs wielded by the "Heaven's Blade Wielders" who serve under the Royal Family of Glendan. There are twelve in existence at the maximum since there are only twelve dites. They do not have a fixed format, volume or weight as weapons, upon appointment of a new wielder they can be reformatted by Glendan's DITE Technicians to take on the shape and abilities of the weapon the wielder desires. In the novels, the dites themselves are passed down from generation to generation and can withstand the monstrous quantity of kei that a Heaven's Blade Wielder produce without breaking like a normal dite would. Since having used a Heaven's Blade previously, Layfon had problems wielding a normal dite after, as he had to restrict his flow of kei to prevent the dite from exploding.
Kei
Very high level of Kei density
The source of power for Martial Artists. Kei users are special since they have an organ within their bodies that produces this energy and use it in many ways. There are different types of Kei, each with its own qualities. In the Anime, it is said that the "Heaven's Blade Receivers" have "monstrous" amount of Kei that makes even the strongest Kei users look weak (e.g. Layfon beat Haia and Gahard easily)
External Type Kei
Used for attack. This Kei is used in the form of a blast to affect surrounding materials.
Internal Type Kei
Used for defense and regeneration. This Kei is used to strengthen parts of the body during battle or to speed up regeneration. Layfon claim that it's bread and butter for Heaven Blade's Receivers to fight continuously for a period of days without getting tired or unfit for battle.
Psychokinetic Kei
Users of this Kei (who are also called Nen-I users) are able to communicate telepathically as well as move objects around telekinetically.
The downside of this, is that those who are able to use it cannot use External Type Kei or Internal Type Kei because their psychokinesis is a fusion of both Internal and External types. A person must be born with a special physical constitution to use this Kei, while the other two can be utilized by anyone with training and a certain level of Kei.
Heavens Blade Wielder/Heavens Blade Reveiver
The Heaven's Blades are twelve DITEs given to the strongest twelve Military Artists in Grendan, who possess exceptional fighting skills and large amount of kei, by the Grendan Royal Family. The Heaven's Blades revealed are: a sword, a pair of gauntlets, a pair of glove controlling golden wires, a gun, a bow, pilgrim's staff, a mace, a scepter, a shield, a cane, a rapier and a lance. Considered the pride of Glendan, they are the strongest Military Artists and are referred to as Heaven's Blade wielders. Besides receiving a middle name to their title, they are also entitled to Platinum DITEs.
They are insanly strong, beyond anything a normal martial artist can imagine.
Light Novel (handicaped former Havens Blade Receiver)
The number of larvae showed no sign of decreasing. ... The students had been attacking these larvae for a long while now.
...
And the larva behind that was also split apart. And then the next, and the next... ...was split in half and they tumbled to the ground as lumps of meat. In the blink of an eye, the corner where the larvae had gathered became desolate.
...
And on that piece of land were Zuellni's legs, trapped in the scarlet, filthy earth, surrounded by countless numbers of larvae. Nine hundred and eighty-two.
"That's a small number. I fought more than ten thousand larvae at Grendan once."
...
Nine hundred and eighty-two. Nine hundred and sixty-five. Nine hundred and three. Eight hundred and seventy-seven. Eight hundred and thirty-three. Seven hundred and seventy-eight. Six hundred and ninety-one......The red lights of the larvae were snuffed out one after another.
Four hundred and seventy-seven. Three hundred and sixty-five. Two hundred and twenty-three. One hundred and ninety-eight. One hundred and fifty-seven. One hundred and two. Ninety-nine......The huge number that had exhausted all of the Military Arts Students was greatly reduced over a short period of time.
Filth Monster
Monsters roaming the polluted earth outside the cities are called Filth Monsters. In the novels, Layfon and Kalian encountered an enormous and extremely powerful one that speaks the human language. According to it, pollutant beasts are also a creation of human. Their main food sources are the pollutants they breathe into the atmosphere, humans and themselves if the former cannot be obtained. They come in many forms and sizes:
Larva
The first state of the Filth Monsters. As ravenous feeders, they will eat any living thing they can find. They are overwhelming in number although they are easily dispatched by skilled Kei users and expert Military Artists. They proved to be difficult for the students of Zuellni when they first encountered in the novel.
Queen
This is the second form of Filth monsters. A Filth monster that lays eggs that hatch into Larva.
Mature
This is the third form of filth monsters. A Filth Monster which has moved past its ability to procreate, the longer they live the more powerful they become. In their mature state, Filth Monsters are able to fly. In Glendan, there exists a tradition that if a Mature Level Filth Monster is engaged by the Heaven's Blade Receivers and manages to escape alive, then it is given a name. In the anime, one such example is Limbeekoon, though it was defeated by Lintence, Savaris and Layfon, it has a counterpart in the Light Novel called Behemoth.
About the RP
There are some points which will differ from the original story line. First of all Layfon was not expelled, and is still a Heavens Blade Receiver in Grendan. Other than that the main crew of Chrome Shelled Regios may make their appearance as NPCs. Like in the original, the communication between regios is problematic, meaning that news won't travel that fast between them. Also it should be noted that only a small fraction of people born in the city should be aware of the strongest martial artist there. For example people which are not born in Grendan should not be aware of the existance of the Heavens Blader, same goes for other strongest people.
The RP will feature different events, which will give the characters a reason to live. For example intercity matches. Every player character is a student, so they are quite limited at the beginning. They will get boost through events, which will be added from an admin.
Note: They won't come once a day, but if some character always trains and does good in matches and other events he will likely get a bonus. But remember it must be logical, a character can't beat a mature filth monster in 1v1... Except for Heavens Blader, which is why they are NPCs which will only appear in events and are controlled by the admin team.
Most matches are non lethal, which means every injury can be healed. But there are instances where a matter of life and death emerges, for example filth monster attack. In that cases character may die. The world is quite unforgiving in this matter. So don't move your character in a position, from which he can't escape alone or with the help of others. It must stay logical to the abilities of the characters, no super boosts to avoid a situation where a character is killed, after maneuvering him/her into a minefield of death flags...
As for now the only city open for RP is Zuellni, if the numbers of active player/character increase there might be different regios which will be opened. They will all be academic cities for now.
Platoon membership will be given to characters, which seem to be above average. Being in a platoon equals much stress on both mind and body. Endless training sessions and the pressure of needing to win and prove that you are better. You may request a special platoon, but you may also be put into another platoon, depending on the character.
