| Chiara is also my favorite, I must say -- I do get an Izumi feel from her as well! (as well as a Digimon feel from the whole show...) I like how she's sort of torn between growing up quickly/being the responsible one and being more immature/getting excited over silly little things, etc. I'm also really liking all the development Ally's been getting, and am glad to see Rodney whenever he pops up, as even "his" episode was hijacked by Ren. XP Really, though, I like all the characters. As for what I like about the show in general, I have to say I like the way you get a feel for the fact that these kids are actually living in a world -- we see their home lives and their parents are a regular part of the cast (again something like Digimon, and an aspect of both shows I like), etc. The attention to adding these tiny little details, like how many previous teams of Hunters there were and stress on different nationalities and backgrounds is also really fun. (I'm also intrigued by how Element Hunters has a "home life situation" Digimon didn't have, iirc -- the child whose parent has lost their job. Reflection on how the times have changed, and more children may be able to relate to Chiara's family as a result?) I also like how just plain fair the show is -- because everyone's working with the same set of tools in Nega Earth, you don't get a feel that any of the Earth Hunters are "better" than the others -- Ren has the best physical capabilities and Homi's the most bookish, but while the show makes a point of remembering Homi'll be out of breath after running too far, etc., it's not like one of the kids is a super-person who can manage all the work. They really are a team. |
