Well, green means go, and I'm ready to roll! Feedback is appreciated. I may or may not go back and make actual chapter names later. Read. Words. Yay. Ch. 1 Stranger in a strange land Bright flashing lights, red and blue. Shackles around my wrists. Crying out. No response. Others looking on. Disgust. Horror. Disbelief. The judge and jury stare down. Evidence. An eyewitness. All wrong. It's not true. I trusted you. The gavel falls. The crowd outside is calling for blood. A man pushes through. A gun. Gone before I hit the ground... -------------------------------------------------------- With a gasp, I jerked awake, my hand flying to my chest to clutch at the wound that, by all accounts, should still be there. Another thing that should be there was a shirt, but for some reason I was not only lacking that, but pants as well. Put short, I was stark naked, looking up at a cloud-filled sky, lying on cold, hard stone. And of course, the first question that comes to mind is “Why?”. Maybe followed by “What?”. Of course, after a moment of registering that I was, in fact, naked, the next was to take a look at my chest to confirm that there actually wasn’t a gunshot wound. And sure enough, it wasn’t there. Smooth and unscarred skin was all there was, and after a moment’s pause I slowly lifted myself off the cold hard ground so I could actually get my bearings. Sadly, what I saw didn’t help much. For starters, I seemed to be on a rocky outcropping of sorts, and behind me there was nothing but mountains, as far as I could tell, and I was nowhere near the ground. Luckily, there seemed to be a path of sorts that I could use to find my way down, which was a bit of a blessing. However, what was before me made my jaw drop a bit. An ocean of sand stretched before me, with no real end in sight. And thanks to my time in the Scouts, I could easily tell that I was not only nowhere near home, I had no actual idea where I was, or if I would even survive. Already the sky was taking hues of orange and pink as the sun began to set, and I had nothing by way of water or shelter. Or food. Or pants. Deciding that I would have time to ponder how being shot by a vengeful man landed me here when I had somewhere to rest for the night, I made my way towards the path, grateful that the stone surface was smooth. Going barefoot on jagged rocks would just make this day so much worse. But the question was, did I head further into the mountain range, or head towards the desert in the hopes that I could find some help? Actually, looking back on it, neither idea would really work all that well. But I chose to head towards the mountains all the same, hoping that I would find some water at least. Maybe a spring or something, I wasn't terribly picky at that moment. As I carefully picked my way along the trail, I couldn’t help but note that at least the plant life, what little there was, didn’t seem that unusual. So at least the threat of alien abduction was crossed off my list of “how-the-hell-did-I-get-here”. Also, I’m pretty sure that aliens wouldn’t leave me naked and lying… wherever I was. So then what was this? A reality show for convicts that was hidden from the public? Heaven? Hell? A hallucination as I lay in a coma after being shot? Walking for what I guessed was an hour, I finally caught sight of something that at least would mean I had a place to rest for the night. A nice, dark, possibly wildlife-filled cave, just a bit off the trail. Sure, I had no idea if something was already in it, but hey, got to start somewhere. With a hopeful spring in my step, I picked up the pace and made for the cave, glad I didn’t actually have to climb to get to it. Wishing I had a flashlight, I cautiously peered into the darkness, listening for anything that sounded like a current resident. Stumbling in the dark, I slowly felt my way through, finally bumping (headfirst) into what I presumed to be the back of the cave. Aside from my throbbing head and pounding heart, I couldn’t hear anything out of the ordinary. I was, for all intents and purposes, alone. And for some reason, that scared me more than anything else. Sliding down against the wall and curling up to try and stay warm, I shut my eyes, hoping that when I opened them again, I’d be back home and everything would have been just a dream. An awful, awful dream. After all, who likes to dream about how your friend killed your family and then pins the blame on you? Trying to hold back a sniffle (either from my own misery or the cold, take your pick), I slowly settled down and fell into an uneasy slumber. |

Stranger in a strange land: Pt. 2 Sleeping didn’t get to last very long. I was awakened by the sound of scuttling legs, something that reminded me of a spider, and that got my attention pretty damn quickly. True, I was not scared of spiders like my brother had been, but something that lived here had to be nasty. Survival of the fittest and all that. Not to mention that something that noisy had to be big. As my eyes cleared from the sleep, I was able to make out the shape of a large figure at the mouth of the cave, and the moonlight gave me a pretty good idea of what it was. Initially, I took it to be a woman, judging from the chest, but something stopped me. As ‘her’ head turned, I could see that there were what appeared to be horns sprouting out of her head. I tried to pass that off as maybe a headdress of sorts, but that was quickly dashed as my eyes traveled downwards. Her arms were covered in black hair, and they ended with claws rather than fingers. What really topped off the cake, however, was that her body below the torso was not legs like a human, but that of a large, hairy spider, abdomen and all. Frozen in a sudden panic, all I could do was watch with a mix of terror and fascination. On the one hand, she was in all her naked glory, from what I could tell, and that was hard to tear my gaze away from. On the other hand though, from the way she was sniffing and slowly coming further into the cave, I got the impression that she knew I was here. And beautiful woman or not, I had no idea what she would do if she got those claws on me. As far as I knew, I had died once already, and I was in no rush to die a second time (If that was even possible. I still had no idea where I was, after all.). Moving as quietly as I could, I slowly stood up again, my legs shaking despite myself. She hadn’t seen me yet, that much I could tell, but how long that would last was debatable, and so I began to creep along the wall, my body trembling more and more the closer the two of us were. “Mmm… Humaaaaaan?” Apparently, the creature could talk, and I now knew without a single doubt she knew I was here. “Where are you…” With a voice that sounded like a gravelly hiss, she sounded almost… excited, by the idea. And by excited, I mean both eager and aroused. Reminded me of him to be honest, which helped me none. I decided to pick up the pace a bit, my anxiety growing the closer I got to the mouth of the cave. Sure, she’d be able to see me then, but at least I could run without running straight into something. Or at least I hoped. “Hehehe…” Her laughter brought me to a standstill, and I realized that she was looking right at me. “Found you! Mine!” Something about this reminded me of Amnesia. You know, when the monster has found you and you need to run? Yeah, that was a little like this. Except, you know, real life. Putting caution to the wind, I made a break for the entrance, hearing something wet slap against the wall I was just along, the monster’s shrieks of “Mine! Mine!” following after me as she gave chase. I was lucky the moon was so bright tonight, I was just barely able to make out where I was going and not tumble right off the cliff. That being said, it didn’t stop me from stumbling and tripping on every little rock and bump that I came across. I was pretty sure I felt blood trickling down my legs, but that only heightened the adrenaline and pushed me to run faster still. I didn’t need to look behind me to know she was still after me; I could hear her legs and, as previously mentioned, her demented screaming. I was no runner, and I could already feel my lungs burning, demanding that I stop and catch my breath. But I knew the moment I stopped, she would catch me instead. And when that happened… I didn't want to even try to imagine. And so I kept running, taking whatever turns and rises I could to try to lose her, without any thought as to how long I had been running or where I would end up. So wrapped up in my flight was I that I didn't notice that my chosen path ended in a dead end. Not a sheer drop, thank god, but it was a wall of stone that I had no chance of climbing over without risking some serious injuries. Not that I didn't try though. And hey, there was a nice-looking vine just barely in reach that I could use to try and pull myself up. In my fear-addled mind, anything was better than being liquefied by that crazy monster-lady. That’s what spiders did, right? “There you are! All mine! Mine!” I turned around just in time to see her skid around the corner, barely able to stop herself from tumbling in her haste. Oddly enough, she only looked more aroused than before, and I swear I saw something dripping from her lower regions. I realized that being eaten would probably come later, which sadly brought my fireman to betray me at the thought. Thankfully, the rest of me was still in control, and I made a jump for the vine, realizing that if I missed, it was over for me. What I grabbed, however, wasn’t a vine. For starts, it was covered in scales. And second, after a brief moment it actually lifted me up into the air, bringing me face to face with another woman. And, unlike the terror-inducing spider-lady, this one was actually gorgeous. While her upper half was covered in spots of what looked like green plate armor and horns rising out from the back of her head, her lower half was serpentine, covered in similar armor-like scales. And I won’t lie, I had a fondness for snakes. Had one for a pet for a while, most mild-tempered serpent I ever saw. So seeing this woman in front of me actually was calming, for lack of a better term. Speaking of her, she regarded me with sleepy eyes, tilting her head to the side as she stared at me. “Hu...man?” She spoke slowly, as if testing out the word, before a smile spread across her features, reaching towards me with a clawed hand. “Listen, you’re a lovely lady and I’d love to get to know ya’, but I’m in a bit of a rush so do you think you can he-” My words were cut off when I felt something hairy and clawed grab my legs, and for a moment time seemed to stop as my words turned into a frightened cry and the serpentine lady seemed to realize what was happening. “Mine mine mine MINE!” The spider lady was determined, I’ll give her that. If not also completely single-minded. I was slightly less impressed when she pulled me right off the tail of the other woman and, in turn, brought my jaw against the unforgiving stone wall before dragging me the rest of the way down, leaving a nice streak of red behind. Blood dribbling out of my mouth and the wind knocked right out of me, I was helpless as she spun me around, and seeing her this close let me see the crazed look in her eyes very clearly. “N-no…” Was all I could cough out between the blood and lack of air. She seemed to not care there was a third party, as she was already positioning herself over me, one hand reaching for my crotch and the other already rubbing her own. “Yesss…” Hissing in delight, she ran her claws along my body, forcing an involuntary shiver from me. This was not how I expected my first time to go. It’s safe to say, then, that we were both surprised when a large hunk of stone was flung at the spider, sending her tumbling off of me with the impact and showering me with little bits of debris, and I was able to crane my neck just enough to see my savior was the other woman, a fierce snarl on her face this time around. Slithering down the wall, she paused for a moment to turn to me, granting me a look of concern as she carefully slid her hands under me and lifted me above the wall, gently laying me on the ground she was previously resting upon. Have to say, that gesture alone was probably the kindest thing anyone’s done for me in a while. Granted, the worry she showed me was quickly replaced with that ferocious one again, whirling about to face the spider-woman again. The phrase “cat-fight” did not even describe this. |

I thank you all for your comments! In regards to spiders... Eh, I figured that if regular spiders are found all over the place, they'd be all over the island too. But that's just me. As for the Wurm... Well, a little deviation is good for the soul. Clash of the titans Dazed, bloodied, and still quite naked, I had little choice but to watch the unfolding confrontation. On one side, there was the spider-woman, who had already recovered from having a freaking boulder flung at her and looked even more frenzied, if that was even possible, although none the worse for wear. On the other was my "savior", the armored serpentine woman, who was strong enough to fling said boulder to begin with. I would be lying if I said I wasn't the least bit excited to see such a clash unfold, watching two "monsters" going head to head... Although I have to admit, me being the prize put a bit of a damper on the whole thing. The spider got the first move, shrieking incoherently as she lunged for the serpent, striking with a speed that betrayed her larger size. Her clawed hands found their mark as she raked them across her foe's face, following up the attack with several attempts to grab her by her scaly head. But neither the strikes from her claws nor her attempts at seizing her seemed to so much as faze the serpent-woman, although I couldn't say for certain, given my current vantage point. But she didn't take the blows without retaliation, and quick as a wink her tail lashed out from behind her, swiping out the spider's legs right off the ground and sending her tumbling down onto her side, her own body working against her as she struggled to right herself. Not giving her that chance, the serpent raised her armored tail and slammed it against her collapsed foe, striking with such force that even the stone underneath cracked upon impact. I had assumed that such a blow would end just about anything, especially when brought down on someone's chest like that. But the spider kept right on struggling, even as the serpent began coiling around her. And sure, I thought that maybe that would take the wind out of her like she had me, but she just kept right on going, somehow managing to yank her arms free from the binding and grabbed the other woman's head, slowly but surely pushing her away and loosening her hold, just enough so that she was able to rise on unsteady legs and stumble over to the wall I had just been lifted upon. Although for once she didn't seem like she was going for me, and with the serpent's head still in her hands she pulled back with all her might and slammed her obstacle's head against the stone, and much like her tail, her head also left quite an impression on the wall. The shock of the impact must have been what the spider needed, the coils slackening for just a moment as the scaled woman's began struggling with the hands that were still wrapped around her head as she was pulled back for another strike. Grinning viciously, and with a bit of blood dripping out of her mouth now, my pursuer shook the rest of the woman's coils off of her as she slammed the woman's head against the wall again, earning a cry from her as the tail began lashing out blindly. Now, I'm neither the bravest, the strongest, or even the smartest guy around. I wasn't even sure how the spider suddenly managed to gain the upper hand like that, although I guessed she either had an incredibly high pain tolerance, or, more chilling, but far more far-fetched, she was actively recovering any damage she took. But what I did know is that if she won, I was screwed. In more ways than one, probably. And although the serpent woman might have similar plans, at least she had come to my defense when I needed it most. So I forced myself to my feet, blood still running down my face and out of my mouth, and took several steps back. To be totally honest, I still have no idea what I was thinking at that moment, although the phrase "hold my beer" came to mind. Except that I was totally sober and had enough coordination to run in a straight line. Straight to the edge of the wall and jump off it, in fact, and land crotch-first on the spider woman's face, barely able to grab onto her horns just in time to avoid falling right off. My gambit seemed to pay off, though, as her attention went from making the serpent's head part of the wall and onto the naked man who had just shoved his junk against her forehead and wrapped his legs around. With a delighted hiss, she let go of the other woman almost immediately, her hands reaching up to pluck me off her head... And though I hate to say it, she must have had some great upper body strength to not even lean slightly from the sudden weight. I was fairly impressed... If also terrified. However, she never got to grab me, as the serpent woman rose right the hell up and delivered the world's meanest uppercut, and in one smooth motion snatched me right off her head and dumped me on the ground, although thankfully now I was a little more steady on my feet and managed to avoid knocking my head on anything else. With an actual roar, the armored serpent went on the offensive again, alternating between slashing with her claws and beating with her scaled fists, pushing her opponent back more and more. At one point, while the spider was still reeling from the attack, the serpent actually reached down, tore another boulder from the ground, and smashed it against her foe, shattering it into pieces. I had to wonder then just how durable those two were, taking blows like these that would otherwise kill someone, if not at least incapacitate them. It was then I saw what she was doing. Her attacks were less about doing damage and more about forcing the spider-woman back, away from solid ground and ever closer to the cliff's edge. Swinging her arms wildly, she didn't even seem to notice how close to the edge she had gotten until one of her legs met empty air, and her eyes widened as she suddenly realized what was going to happen. Rather fluidly, the serpent woman dug one of her hands into the stone, anchoring herself solidly, and in a manner that reminded me of a break-dancer, pivoted herself and swung her tail with all her might, her head below her tail, and slammed it right into the other monster's head. With an almighty scream, the spider was knocked straight off the ledge and disappeared, her screams echoing out as she plummeted, growing fainter and fainter until it at last ended with a far-off, but recognizable, crash. I could only stare in disbelief for a few moments as the realization that I was safe from that lunatic thing sunk in, and my legs were the first thing to give out as I fell to my arms and knees, breathing so heavily that you'd think I had been the one fighting. But I was alive. Bloodied, but alive. The sound of slithering, however, grabbed my attention, and I watched as my savior slowly made her way over to me. I could see now that she didn't come out unscathed either, blood dripping down her own head along with smaller cuts and scratches. Still, she came out pretty well, looking neither in pain nor dazed. No, she looked simply tired, but at the same time she seemed rather pleased... Perhaps even a bit excited. Stopping before me, she surprised me by bending over and pulling me right into an embrace, coils quickly wrapping around me, although not painfully so, and pressed her lips against mine, which surprised me further still. But hey, if she wanted a victory kiss, she was welcome to it. At least she wasn't screaming "Mine!" like the other one. She didn't continue it for very long though, pulling away in surprise as she peered closely at my mouth and head, as if just now seeing (and tasting) the blood. Her face falling for a moment, she shook her head and wrapped her coils around me a little more tightly, lifting me into the air behind her as she pulled us both right up the wall and began to move towards yet another cave. As for me, exhaustion, as well as the fading adrenaline and dizziness from the blood I was still dripping, led me to close my eyes for just a little while, content with the idea that this was far better than the alternative I just narrowly avoided. |

Back in action! I apologize for the h-scene ahead. First time writing like that, so bear with me. Or just skip it. Serris Clearly tonight was the night of me not getting to sleep for any length of time. I had only just dozed off in the coils of my serpentine "rescuer" when I was, once again, awakened with a start. However, unlike last time, the reason for waking up was not noise, but rather me being dropped into water. As soon as I felt the cold splashing against my still-naked (and beaten) body, my eyes snapped open, and a familiar panic came over me. I suppose it never occurred to her that I was absolutely terrified of being submerged in water. And of large bodies of water in general. I couldn't even take a bath without some degree of fear. And yet here I was, dropped into a pool of the liquid horror that was H20, and to add to it I couldn't tell which end was up. All I could hope for was that it wasn't too deep and that a way out was nearby, while my mind went into overdrive with fear. The water suddenly felt colder, my chest felt tighter, demanding that I breath in air where there was none. Was I sinking? Was that something grabbing ahold of me, dragging me deeper into the depths? Actually, that last part was only half true. Someone certainly did grab me, but instead of being dragged under, I was pulled up and out into a waiting embrace, but I was still quite panicked, and rather than realize that it was the serpent woman saving my hide yet again, I instead tried to claw my way free, coughing and sputtering, furiously trying to wipe the water out of my eyes with one hand while pushing away with the other, my blurred vision just barely able to make out the grey color of stone just barely out of reach. But my new friend wasn't letting me go anytime soon. Rather, she watched me with no small amount of confusion, her head tilted slightly to the side as she held me close. "Hu-man?" Her tone was innocent, and perhaps just the tiniest bit concerned. There wasn't anything dangerous in this pool as far as she knew, so why should I be so afraid? "Huma-mff?" She tried again, but my hand had made contact with her face, pushing at her cheek which, under normal circumstances, would make anyone sound a little silly when they tried to talk, or in her case, adorable. But she still held on, and as I finally caught my breath and my vision cleared, I started to calm down, realizing that I was, at the very least, no longer underwater. It also made me realize that my struggling was absolutely pointless in the face of someone whose clawed hands could rip entire boulders from the ground and throw them like they were baseballs. That kind of strength made my attempts to escape nigh impossible, not to mention needlessly exhausting. I was tired enough as it was, I didn't need to make it worse. So with a clearer head, I took stock of where I was. Unsurprisingly, I suppose, it was a cave, and of decent size to boot. But, from what I could tell, it looked like someone lived here, or at least used to. Granted, the only source of light was coming from an opening in the ceiling, which also happened to be right over the pool and seemed to be the source of the water. A sort of mini-waterfall if you will. But in the dim moonlight, I could faintly make out the shapes of other chambers within the cave, and if I was correct it seemed as if there was furniture of some kind within at least one of them. Aside from that, there were what looked like rugs laid here and there, and I spotted at least one stool along the wall. Pretty simple, but I had doubts that my friend made, or even used, any of this. A bit too big, as she was. Speaking of her, she was once again trying to get my attention, gently poking me in the ribs with one of her claws. I wasn't ticklish (not there, at least), but it was enough to get me to finally look at her. And I have to say, her pouting face was adorable, her cheeks puffed out a bit as she huffed, poking me again. And again. "Alright, alright, you got my attention." I pushed her claw away when she tried to poke me again, clearly unconvinced. "Oi, enough poking." Poke. Poke. "Stop that." Poke. Poke. "I'm not ticklish if that's what you're aiming for." A pause... And then another poke. "Are you quite done?" Poke. Sighing, I figured I would at least try to get a few things straightened out. Hey, I wasn't going anywhere fast, what else was there to do? And what better subject to start with than why she had chosen such a rude awakening for me? "So why'd you drop me in this pool anyways? Couldn't bother to wake me up any other way?" In hindsight, that came out a bit more annoyed than I intended it to, and her reaction showed it. Shrinking back a bit, she slowly raised her claws to my forehead, running them over me gently before pulling away to show a bit of red glistening against the white. Ten points to Jerks-R-Me. I had forgotten about the injury I had gotten in my fear-filled frenzy, yet here she was trying to clean it. In a sort of roundabout way, I guess, but the intent was still there. "Ummm..." Actually, looking at her now, she was still bleeding a bit too, but it looked like she hadn't even started washing herself yet. And now she looked sad as well, her gaze downcast. I'm gonna go ahead and change "Jerk" to "Ass". Congrats me, you just leveled up. "Sorry for snapping." I imitated her previous gesture, wiping away a bit of blood from her forehead with my hand, which was enough to get her to look at me again, albeit hesitantly. Good grief, she was acting like a yelled at her. "I just really, really... Dislike water." Her brows came together, hesitation slowly being replaced with curiosity again. "Dislike?" I nodded, casting a glance at the pool that I was still partially submerged in. "Yeah. Dislike. Scared of. Would rather not be in." "Scared?" She repeated, her tail swishing about in the water, not bothered herself in the slightest. Strong and simple, she seemed. "Yeah." She hummed, pulling me close to her again, my head resting between her breasts. "Serris stays with mate then." Slowly, she worked us both into the deeper parts of the pool, finally stopping when she was up to her chest. Which meant that I was pretty darn close to panicking again, because at her chest was where my head was. Thankfully though, she gave me a bit of a boost with her coils, allowing me to actually sit with my chest above water. "Serris? That's your name?" Was actually a rather pleasing name, the more I thought about it. Fit her well. Humming happily in response, she began washing her own wound, glancing at me expectantly every so often. Sighing again, I cupped my hands in the water and splashed them over my face, rubbing away the blood as best I could. Truth be told I wasn't sure if this was entirely sanitary, but what else was I to do? "Well, nice to meet you Serris... Thanks for saving me back there." Her humming didn't stop, clearly enjoying herself. Well, if my new friend was in a good mood, I might as well make the most of it myself. Actually, I still needed to ask her exactly just what she was... ...Wait a second. Mate? It sure took me a bit, but I finally realized that she had just called me her "mate", which brought my washing to a screeching halt. "Er... Serris?" She stopped as well, puzzled... And now that I noted, looking a bit flushed. "Why did you call me your mate? We only just met and..." I felt her tail begin to wrap it's way around me, and a blush was now spreading across her face. "Y-You do know that a victory kiss doesn't exactly seal any deals... Serris?" She didn't seem to be paying me much heed now, and it looked like bath time was over. Her expression was eerily similar to the spider-woman's now, that same lustful face now inches away from mine. Apparently I hit some sort of arousal trigger... Or she already was aroused and now she just couldn't stand it any more. If it was the latter than damn she had some patience. If the former... Whoops. Taking me back to the edge of the pool, she hoisted us both out, her breath becoming hotter and heavier. And, unless I was mistaken, some of her scales were receding, particularly around her abdomen and upper body, her breasts now totally free (not that they were really well covered to begin with) and her more... Private areas now fully exposed. There was no way out of it this time, and even if I were to say I didn't want this, my second head was already disagreeing. Glad that she had wrapped me with her softer underside, I could only squirm a bit as she pulled me closer, her tongue hanging out as we were pressed together. h-scene ahoy! "Mate..." Her voice was low and filled with lust, and I got the feeling that she wasn't going to take no for an answer. Still... "Serris, this really..." She cut me off with her tongue running up my chest, one hand reaching down to rub my groin while another grabbed my hand, pulling it towards her breasts, holding it there expectantly until I finally got the message and began to squeeze, a satisfied moan confirming that I was doing it right. I figured that, since she had such a pain tolerance, a little extra force on my squeezes wouldn't do any harm. Actually, she seemed to enjoy it even more. Freeing my other hand, I got a handful of her other breast and began to massage in equal earnest, much to her delight... And I had to admit I was rather enjoying it myself. It was like using stress balls... Only infinitely more gratifying. Not to be outdone, Serris began rhythmically move her coils and abdomen, gyrating herself against me with increasing intensity. I have to admit, I didn't expect this much foreplay, given how aroused she looked, but I wasn't going to complain. Still, all good things must end, and she was more than eager for the main event. With a hiss, she pulled away just a bit, just enough to line herself up with my own arousal before, unceremoniously, she slammed herself against me, putting me inside of her in one swift movement. I couldn't help but moan myself, totally unprepared for the warmth I would be enveloped in, nor was I totally ready for both the similarly rhythmic contractions within her that she exhibited with her tail. I was also unsuspecting of how violent it was about to get. She started slow, alternating between gyrating and thrusting against me, while I was only able to continue my work with my hands, the rest of my body totally bound and unable to do little more than wriggle slightly. Somehow, that made it strangely more arousing for me. However, she soon picked up her pace with her thrusting, and soon both her arms had me pressed against her entirely, the only thing that separated being our waists, and even then only for brief moments at a time. Grunting, I felt myself coming close to my limit, yet unable to do anything other than weakly wiggle my hips, which only served to bring a feral smile to Serris's face. "Go ahead, Mate..." She whispered, and I felt the tip of her tail brush against my waist, almost as if encouraging me to release. And release I did, crying out as I climaxed deep inside of her. She followed soon after, her walls clamping down tightly as she shook from her own orgasm, her eyes rolling skyward as she threw her head back. And then she kept going. Recovering almost immediately, she renewed her assault with even greater vigor, and if it was even possible she looked even more aroused, her tongue sliding across my neck as she attempted to make us even closer together. "More... More... Need more..." She was practically growling, sending a shiver down my spine. "Want more..." 'Alright', I thought, 'She's going for seconds. She's not entirely human, so maybe I should have expected something unusual.'. But then came the third round, and the fourth, and I figured out pretty quick that she wasn't going to be running out of steam anytime soon. Soon all I could do was fall limp in her grip, which only caused her to tighten her binding in response, taking me beyond draining me dry and settling for me becoming a meat stick, too weak to so much as protest. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was only after what felt like hours (which, in reality, was actually almost just one hour) did she finally release me, a satisfied smile on her face as she slowly unraveled her coils that bound me. Given my exhaustion, however, my only response was to collapse like a bunch of broccoli on top her tail. Serris, on the other hand, didn't seem the least bit winded. Sleepy, sure, but not exhausted. I actually found myself a little envious of her stamina, getting the feeling that if she really wanted, she could have kept going. For my own sake, I was glad she decided to stop. My head was spinning and I still hadn't gotten any proper sleep, and now, although it had been undeniably pleasurable, I couldn't help but feel a little betrayed that she just took me like that. Had that been her goal this entire time? That she had saved me just so she could use me herself? Now that the lust and adrenaline were wearing off, I was starting to have second thoughts about what just happened. It was too fast, too sudden... And all too similar to the spider. And that didn't sit well with me. Maybe I was overreacting, maybe I was just grumpy from exhaustion and my own confusion about my new situation, I wasn't sure. What I did know is that I needed some space right now. Mustering what little strength I had left in my legs, I clambered to my feet and hobbled away from the serpent-woman, ignoring her call of "Mate?" and grabbing one of the rugs that were scattered around the floor. Dragging it over to the wall furthest away from her, I lay myself down on it with my back facing her, trying my best to ignore her confused whimper, perhaps wondering what she had done wrong. "I just... Need some space right now." I answered her unasked question, not bothering to look over at her. I heard her moving about, tensing up when I heard her coming closer. "No, Serris, just leave me be right now, please..." I heard her whimper, but I resolved to be stubborn right now, though as she slithered away from me I felt no small amount of guilt. But still I laid there, resolving to just sleep and figure out my situation more in the morning. Or whenever I woke up. However, as I lay there, still a bit wet and still very much naked, I realized that not only was I shivering again, I was actually unable to fall asleep. Again, either from my misery or the cold, take your pick. Or perhaps it was both this time around. Looking behind me, I saw the large, dark shape that probably was Serris across the cave, and I had to wonder if she was able to sleep better than I was. I wondered if she was just as lonely as I was right now. Probably not as cold, considering she was sleeping just fine when I first found her. I finally gave in. Picking myself off the rug, I wearily went back over to the girl, rubbing my arms in a meager attempt to warm myself, if only just a bit. As I came close, however, I saw her head turn towards me, a sleepy mumble leaving her mouth as she regarded me for a moment. I just stood there, feeling both guilty for pushing her away and chilled from my dampness, waiting to see if she was still feeling cuddly. Her hand reaching out and taking hold of mine answered that question, and I could see the outline of a smile in the dark as I was tugged closer. Lying down in front of her, she wrapped her arms around me once again, her tail forming a both as a pillow for our heads and as a small wall between us and the rest of the world, and her head was soon rubbing against mine, humming contentedly as I finally fell into a deep, and undisturbed, sleep. Again, apologies for the lame mess of an h-scene. |

Back in the saddle! Not terribly exciting, but I'll let ya'll be the judges of that. :B Day 2: I awoke with Serris still pressed against me, still coiled tightly around me to form a warm (and sturdy) shield from the cold (and everything else). And, I must admit, I was relieved that she was actually still here. If I awoke alone again... I'm not sure what I would do. I knew that it was strange to be upset with the thought of her leaving, but on the other hand, the thought of being alone here upset me even more. Last night had already shown me that not all the residents here were quite as friendly, although I suppose one does not represent many. Even so, a friend was welcome... Even if she was a threat to my pelvis. But better that than a threat to my everything. Speaking of Serris, she was absolutely adorable asleep, her mouth slightly hanging open in a dreamy smile, her chest rising and falling slowly with each breath, her tail twitching from side to side every so often... On the other hand though, her hair was long enough that I think it had a mind of its own and, at the moment, was trying to kill me. Such a betrayal. Killer hair aside though, I was quite comfortable, and honestly I wouldn't have minded staying that way for longer. But there was sunlight streaming in the cave now, illuminating it well enough that I could finally take a look around. And curiosity was besting laziness. Or at least my own. I had no idea what would even wake Serris up, and I certainly didn't want to scare her awake and accidentally get crushed in every possible place... A rumbling from my new friend's stomach answered that question. With a lazy yawn, Serris's coiled grip briefly tightened around me as she stretched her human half, prompting a grunt from me. Thankfully, it didn't last long, and her tail soon slackened it's grip almost entirely as she opened her eyes, her sleepy smile widening as her gaze fell upon me. "Mate!" She nuzzled her head against me, humming happily, as if she had been the one expecting to wake up alone. "Sleep well?" Blowing some of her hair away from my face, I couldn't help but smile myself at her affections. "Yeah, I slept pretty well. You make for a good bed and blanket." Pushing myself upright, I stretched myself out a bit, wincing as I felt my back crack and pop nosily. A little stiff, but I could hardly complain. My serpentine companion rose as well, her gaze turning towards the mouth of the cave as her stomach rumbled again. "Hungry... Mate hungry?" I nodded, although I wasn't exactly sure what there was to eat around here. Then again, if her appetite for food was anything like her sexual appetite, I figured she wouldn't have stuck around here if there wasn't enough to eat. "Then Serris go!" She turned to me, poking me in the chest. "Mate stays here." Once again the dread of being alone came creeping up, but on the other this meant a chance to take a look around, get used to this new "home"... And hopefully find something to wear. Hey, if there were chairs and carpets, my I could place some hope in finding at least some pants. Still... "You sure?" I couldn't help but fidget a bit. Nervous habit, that. "I mean, what if that spider-woman comes around again?" I watched as her expression softened, slithering up to me for a brief, but tight, embrace. "Serris will be fast. Mate safe here." She pulled away, gesturing towards the back of the cave, although unless my eyes were deceiving me it looked like she was pointing towards the waterfall. Lowering her arm, she rubbed her head against mine once more before slithering out of the cave, leaving me alone with nothing but the sounds of the water falling into the pool. My favorite sound in the world. Yay. Rubbing my arms to chase the goosebumps away, I briefly wondered if it would actually be worth trying to get a closer look at the waterfall. Because that would mean another close encounter with evil itself. On the other hand, she probably wouldn't have wanted me to go take a look if she didn't think it would be good. With a sigh, I decided that I'd suck it up this time and take a look... After I checked out the other chambers. No rush, after all. Not sure what to expect, I checked out the side tunnel closest to the entrance of the cave, figuring I would start far and work my way inward. Of course, the thought of just leaving and not looking back crossed my mind, that small nagging fear that if I stayed here for much longer I would never leave at all. But I just couldn't bring myself to ditch Serris like that. I had to wonder why. Was it out of feeling that I owed her for rescuing me last night? A fear of being all alone in an unfamiliar land? I wasn't sure. And so I did not leave. Poking my head into the tunnel, I saw nothing of immediate interest. In fact, it only seemed to be a dead end. Nothing more, nothing less. So that was pointless. Working my way inward, I took a look into a tunnel on the right side, and this time around I actually found something. A little ways in there was a simple red curtain, drawn across the tunnel and blocking view to wait laid behind it. Curiosity flaring, I picked up my pace, my footsteps echoing through the empty cave. Drawing aside the curtain, I found something that could really make for a good night's rest. A bedroll! Figuring that this had served as a makeshift bedroom, I nodded to myself with some satisfaction, glad that I wouldn't have to worry much about cold nights... Although if last night had been an indicator, that might not be a problem anyways. Exiting the tunnel, I made my way towards what I could call the main chamber of the cave. On the one side, there was the waterfall and pool, and that had been what Serris had been pointing at. On the other, more dry, side, there was what seemed to be a study of sorts, if a bit crude. There were the many scattered rugs and chairs, but there was also a table tucked against the side of the wall, and next to it was a shelf. But not just any kind of shelf. A bookshelf. With books. Novel concept, I know. With a grin, I practically skipped over to the shelf, eager to take a look at what there was to read. It wasn't a library, but it was better than nothing. However, what I found wasn't quite what I expected. The first book I grabbed seemed to be a children's story, judging from how short it seemed. Opening it, however, got my eyebrow quirked. "Prince Charming and the Seven Dwarfs?" I muttered aloud, deciding to give it a quick skimming... And I soon shut it and stuck it back on the shelf. "That's a children's book around here?!" Fighting away the redness that settled on my face, I reached for the next book, hoping that it would be a little more sane. "The Little Mermaid? Never was a fan of this..." But, that being said, it didn't seem that different from the original story I was used to- No, nevermind. I quickly shut that one two and stored it back on the shelf. How many of these stories were going to revolve around sex? It didn't help that neither of these books were labeled in any way. Actually, none of them were. To make it even more confusing several books were entirely blank, free from any sort of mark or stain. Actually, the more I thought about this, the stranger it seemed. Being so close to water was sure to do some damage to the books, yet they weren't even the least bit damp. I’d be lying if I said I wasn't at all curious. Perhaps, as much as I was loathe to think of it, there was something about the waterfall that wasn't immediately obvious. It was time to stop putting it off, I supposed. Edging close to the water's edge, I took a good look at the waterfall itself, taking advantage of the light streaming down from above. And, to my surprise, I did see something. Though it was only for brief moments at a time, I occasionally caught a glimpse of dark shapes behind the waterfall. Actually, if I hadn't been thinking to look for something in the first place I might not have given it much thought at all. Sucking in a breath, I realized that I was going to have to get in the water. "Please let this be worth it..." Steeling my nerves, I felt myself tense as I hopped into the pool, the urge to just panic and get right out growing quite loud in my head. Biting my lip, I paddled over to the waterfall, shutting my eyes tightly as I passed underneath it, doing my best to just not shout "Fuck it!" and go back. But I didn't, and I was rewarded with quite the sight when I opened my eyes again. I found myself in a cave, hidden behind the waterfall. Scrambling onto the (surprisingly) dry ground, I found myself looking upon several rows of chests, and all but the smallest of them were locked up tight, although I suppose I shouldn't have been too terribly surprised. What did surprise me, however, was what was in the open chest. There were more books, but also several small bags containing who-knew-what and, to my delight, pants. Oh happy day! Removing the pants and setting them aside for now (I would have to get in the water again, so I might as well try to keep them as dry as I could for now), I removed the books, finding a flat spot of stone and popping the first one open. Unlike the ones on the shelf, this one was a little more... Curious. It was a book filled with notes on the anatomy of... Things that were not entirely human. Actually, the more I thought about it, some of the creatures bore some resemblance to Serris, bearing traits of both humans and... Other things. Setting that aside, I took up the second book, and found that this one was on humans... Particularly human men. In fact, quite a bit was dedicated on ways of "extracting" from them, but there was also quite a bit on preserving organs, methods and theories on increasing lifespans... Who kept notes like this? Shaking my head, I set that aside as well and reached for the third, and this one actually grabbed my interest a bit, with the title inside calling it "On Mamano". Giving the book a quick skimming, I found that it was actually an encyclopedia of sorts, detailing the many monstrous denizens of the island. Heck, I even found myself a page that answered my question about what Serris was. "A Wurm, huh?" Figuring I should at least brush up on what I knew about my companion, I settled down for a quick read. "Ferocious, simple-minded dragons... Able to transform into their original form? Yikes." Other than that, it pretty much listed what I had already learned the other night; really strong, really durable, and really, really horny. I found myself disagreeing with the label of "simple-minded". Serris wasn't very chatty, sure, but I didn't think that she was "simple". Actually, why did it even bother me that she was being called simple? Deciding I would read it more later, I set aside the encyclopedia and reached for the last book I had grabbed. Unlike the others, however, this one did actually have something written on the cover. "Property of Walter C." So maybe this was a journal of some kind? On the one hand, I probably shouldn't be reading something that might contain some personal information... On the other, maybe I could get some answers on how I got here. Not sure why I expected that, but I just had to hold out on some sort of hope. A cursory glance told me I wouldn't find out much, however. As it happened, there were a number of pages missing… Intentionally or not was something that remained to be seen. That being said, however, there was one that caught my attention in particular. I ignored the dating, since it didn't match up to anything I knew back home, and lacking anything to match it up with I wasn't sure if this was written a long while ago or was fairly recent. Still, some information was better than nothing. “Nadine and I have finally decided that we would stay in this cave, for a while at least. From what I understand there is another vampire in the nearby area, so perhaps their presence will help to discourage the Mistress from attempting to hunt us again. Then again, her state of mind (and those of her servants) is hardly what they used to be, so we are prepared to flee again all the same. For some extra security, we’re going to hide some of our more valuable belongings behind the waterfall, my journal included. It’s a shame that this old thing is falling apart, but then again, I’ve had it almost as long as I’ve been here. In any event, if we ever need to leave again, we can easily come back and recover our belongings without fear of theft. On a happier note, however, the child is still doing well, despite how much we've been moving around. She still doesn't yet fully understand what has happened at home, and until she’s older, perhaps its’ better that it stays that way. But she is safe. I am safe. Nadine is safe… And for the first time in a while, she is smiling. I can ask for little else. -Walter I shut the journal, figuring that I could read more of what little there was later. But at least this confirmed that there were at least some previous tenants to the cave and that Serris hadn’t just robbed someone for all of this. Granted, that particular thought hadn't actually crossed my mind until just then, but at least that was one less thing to worry about. But, on the other hand, it meant that these people- this Walter and Nadine – never got a chance to reclaim their belongings. Silently, I hoped that if I ever came to meet them, they wouldn't be too terribly bitter about Serris and I making us of their stuff. Another question had been brought to mind. The first was that there was mention of a child and a “Mistress”. And, from what I could gather, they were fleeing from this person. The way the child was referenced to was also a little strange, as far as I thought of it. Perhaps this guy wasn't too terribly attached to his own child (not something that I liked the thought of), or perhaps it was a recent adoption and he simply was adjusting (understandable, but still a little odd). There was, of course the chance that I was over-thinking it. And there was still the matter of my second question; how long had all this stuff been here? And, especially concerning the state of the items hidden in this small hideaway behind a waterfall, of all things. Not a single object showed signs of water damage, not even the books. Actually, that raised another interesting question. How in the world does one get books through a waterfall and not get them the least bit water damaged? Unless there was some secret button that somehow stopped the water from flowing or something of that nature, of course. I say “of course”, but the idea continues to sound stupid. Setting aside the journal for now, I grabbed the pants and, after a moment of collecting myself, lowered into the pool, trying to keep the precious clothing above the water as much as I could. The waterfall, of course, made that venture pointless. As well as got in my eyes. H2O struck again. Curses. However, there was a bit of good news on the other side. A delighted cry of “Mate!” rang through the cave, and I heard the sound of something dropping and of what I presumed to be my Wurm companion all but dragging herself in my direction, the dear girl snatching me up out of the water (of which I was very grateful for), her head quickly pressed against mine like she had done this morning. Sadly, me being wet and her nuzzling head only made her hair that much more determined to kill me. “Serris found food!” She chirped, her claws tugging at my arms as she pretty much pulled me along. I blinked rapidly to try and clear my vision, but at best everything was still a blurry, watery mess to my eyes. Still, I could tell that she had found a lump of… Something, to say the least. As soon as she let go, I took my free hand and wiped my eyes, flinging my pants over my shoulder to make use of both. Blinking a few times, I saw that she had brought in a goat. Or something similar. Or, rather, what was once a goat or something similar. Now it was just a bloody, broken mess. Someone had apparently gotten a little carried away. And was that a tree? It was. She had brought in a small tree. And by small I mean about as big as her. Following my gaze, Serris shrugged her shoulders, holding her hands behind her back innocently. “Fire?” That answered that question. Wood plus fire and meat did indeed equal a meal. So said the science of food. And hey, we both lucked out here. No lighters? No matches? No problem. Eagle Scout, suckers. “Alright Serris, gonna need a few things from you.” She nodded rapidly, eager to please. “Going to need you to break up that tree for me. Try not to have them longer than my arm, if they’re too big then it’s going to be pretty hard to get them lit. I’ll poke around a bit more, see if they left some flint around here…” ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It hadn’t been the most illustrious of breakfasts, but I admit it certainly did a good job of filling me up… Even if Serris had devoured most of it herself. But I was satisfied, and now we had a nice, if simple, fire pit (courtesy of the Wurm head-butting the cave floor a few times. What a trooper). And, to top it off, I now had a dry pair of pants. Granted, I was going commando, but it was better than nothing. Serris, on the other hand, was less than excited about my find. She had been staring at the article of clothing for a while now, as if she was sizing it up for an attack. At first, I thought she was simply curious about it since she lacked legs of her own, which I thought was a bit endearing. However, her stare turned into a pout, and she slithered over to me to poke my junk, probably hoping to get a reaction. Feeling my face turn red, I pushed at her head, which got her to stop poking me at least. However, her pout only intensified, her cheeks puffed out in a gesture that I could only describe as adorably grumpy. “Why?” I raised an eyebrow at her question, not quite sure where she was going with this. “Why what?” “Pants.” I couldn’t help but snort. I suppose she saw no reason to it, not wearing clothes herself. “Cause I’m not going to walk around in the nude all the time.” “Why.” That sounded more like a statement than a question. Rolling my eyes, I patted her head, earning a happy humming from her. “Cause I’ll be warmer, that’s why. And I don’t like feeling so exposed, so there’s another reason.” As I stood up to don my new pair of pants, I failed to realize that Serris had other ideas in mind, and her coils soon wrapped around me, this time pressing the back of my head against her ample breasts. “Serris keep you warmer than pants.” The lust in her tone was hard to miss, as was the stirring in my loins. With a gulp, I remembered one of the last bits that encyclopedia had mentioned on Wurms. ”They have endless stamina.” What, you were expecting an H-Scene? Not this time, suckas. |

Day 2, Part 2 - Lay of the land - This time, it actually did go on for several hours. Even when I was totally spent, Serris didn’t seem discouraged in the slightest, and she kept just right on riding me, gyrating, rubbing, and keeping me comfortably coiled up so I didn’t get thrashed like a ragdoll with all the movement. Somewhere down the line I suppose I just passed out altogether, because I came around with a view of the landscape before me, the desert stretching out ahead and mountains framing the scene just out of the corners of my eyes. A bit bright for my liking, but I couldn’t deny that the view was spectacular. I actually had to wonder what it would look like in the evening light. Everything just looked better then, in my opinion. I also realized that Serris was loosely wrapped around me, my head propped under her chin and the rest of me comfortably lounging on her lower half, her arms wrapped gently around me… If a little firmly. Was she really worried I would run off? She didn’t seem to realize I had woken up, quietly humming to herself as she occasionally ran her clawed hands along my arms. I figured I’d just let her be for now, since she seemed to be enjoying herself. Besides, it was hardly like I could complain… Well, maybe I could wish that she had chosen a spot with more shade, but I wasn’t going to raise a fuss right now. Would hardly be worth it. Letting my eyes drift shut again, I slowly dozed on and off for a good while, not quite tired enough to fall back entirely asleep again, but comfortable enough to fall into a sort of half-sleep. And for a while, it was nice. The sun slowly moved through the sky, broken occasionally by a small cloud here and there. The wind was the ambiance, broken occasionally only by the sound of rocks tumbling every so often, although the noise caused Serris to tense up every single time. Without fail. Maybe she wasn’t so much afraid of me leaving as she was paranoid altogether… Eventually though, I got feeling pretty restless, as well as a bit parched. Had to recover those body fluids somehow. So, with a heavy heart, I grunted quietly and stretched out my arms and legs, and as I did so I felt Serris jolt a bit before her face entered the top of my vision, her hair spilling all around her as she smiled softly, planting a small kiss on my forehead as she released me. “So, you enjoy yourself there, Serris?” I quirked an eyebrow, unable to stop myself from laughing a bit as her tail began to wag from side to side as she eagerly bobbed her head up and down. Unable to resist the urge, I reached out a hand and gave her head a good rubbing, earning another one of her happy hums, which soon went on to become a quiet moan when I went out on a limb and began to scratch around one of her horns. Found the sweet spot, I guess. Dropping my hand (and getting a disappointed “aww” in return), I walked back into the cave, taking a moment to recover my new pants and slip them on for a quick trial run. They’d obviously seen some work in their life, but I figured that made them a little more comfortable to wear. Getting my fill of water from the pool, I silently debated what I should do with the rest of my day. As curious as I was about the journal, I wasn’t in a hurry to get back in the pool. There wasn’t any real work to do, and (for now at least) Serris seemed satisfied in the sex department. “Maybe I should get a feel for the area…” Muttering aloud to myself, I turned my gaze down to my bare feet. I ran the risk of getting them cut open with all the rocks around (mountain, after all), but at the same time it wouldn’t be the first time. Whistling, I turned about and strolled right back out of the cave, Serris’s curious gaze watching me as I peeked over the ledge of our little plateau. I could probably just hop down there, wasn’t all that far. Getting back up would require Serris, but on the other hand, all I had to do was ask. “Mate?” Speaking of, I figured I should probably bring her with me. I felt her brush up against me as she took ahold of my arm. “Where?” Patting her scaled hand, I shook my head, offering her a smile. “I was just figuring I could stand to do some walking, see what there is around here.” “Rocks.” She made it sound like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “I don’t doubt it, but I’m still curious.” “Serris comes with.” “I was going to ask you to come anyways.” With a “hup”, I leapt down from the ledge, steadying my landing with my hands so I didn’t knock my head. Again. That was still stinging a bit, now that I thought about it. Hopefully it wasn’t infected… Serris quickly slunk down to join me, and I noted that she seemed pretty intent on staying very, very close. Well, who was I to say no? With no clear direction, and trusting that my companion would be able to bring us back here if I got hopelessly confused, I chose the direction I had come running from the other night and started walking, glad that at least this time there wasn’t an Ushi-Oni after my ass. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Serris had been pretty accurate in saying that there wasn’t much else but rocks, aside from the occasional patch of plant life or trees that grew out of seemingly impossible places. Again, I don’t know what I was expecting, but it sure beat just sitting around. A winding path here, a ledge to climb up or hop down from there, a stretch of jagged rocks that she insisted carrying me across... Was a nature walk, for all intents and purposes. Serris had relaxed a bit as time went on, though she made a habit of grabbing me every time she thought she heard something. This was probably one thing about her that veered more on annoying than endearing… But I appreciated the concern none the less. Something struck me as odd, though. There was many a time when I would hear what sounded like talking or just general noise that another living being would make, yet whenever we got near, the sounds would always stop, and there would never be a source of the sounds around to see. Occasionally I thought I caught sight of eyes or faces peeking out from around corners or out of dark spaces, but aside from that nothing ever came of it. And, as soon as we got a certain distance away, the noises would start up again… And I swear they sounded disappointed most of the time. I had to wonder if Serris had anything to do about it. She certainly proved her ferocity (as well as being incredibly strong and more durable than the stone that made the mountain), so maybe around here she was the proverbial apex predator. Either that or there was a huge prank coming up and I was about to get the biggest punking of my life. I found myself wishing for the former, despite myself. Spotting a nice patch of shade, I figured I could give my feet a short rest before we headed back. I could feel myself getting hungry and, although I had no way to accurately confirm it, got the feeling it was late afternoon at this point. Tugging my companion’s shoulder to point out the relief from the sunshine, I plopped myself down on the ground, leaning forward for a moment as Serris laid herself out around me, her head resting on my lap as she glanced up at me. Taking the hint, I began scratching around her horns again, chuckling as she squirmed for a moment before pressing her head against my hand. She hadn’t looked too thrilled about this little walk to begin with, so I figured some head-scratching would cheer her up. Lord knows I certainly enjoyed it. A comfortable silence fell again, much like the one earlier. Except this one didn’t get to last as long. There was a flap of wings, a shadow passing over our heads… And then a light weight settled on my shoulders as I felt talons (yes, talons) grab ahold, accompanied with brightly colored feathers popping in and out of my vision as whoever settled on me was either trying to lift off with me or just get their balance. “Hu-man! Hu-man!” Well, whoever had made me their perch was certainly trying to get my attention by shouting in my ears. “Momma, I found a human!” Both Serris and I (well, mostly me) craned our necks up to take a look at who had apparently “found me”. A child, probably would just barely come up to my knees if I were standing up. Although, rather than hands, she had wings that were probably longer than she was. I didn’t need a book to tell me this was a Harpy that was currently bouncing on my shoulders… And digging her talons into me. Her grip wasn’t particularly strong, but all her movement wasn’t helping since she constantly had to adjust her balance so she wouldn’t fall off. Serris, on the other hand, looked rather upset, and before I or the child could react, reached up to her and plucked the little bird-hybrid off. “My mate.” The child looked scared for only a moment, but soon shook her head, wiggling and flapping for all her tiny might. “Nu-uh! He’s my husband now! And then I’ll show him off to my sisters and they’ll all be so jealous…” “Too young.” I blinked in surprise, not exactly expecting that kind of reaction from my companion. Actually, that reminded me, how old was Serris anyways? I know the norm was you don’t ask a lady her age, but then again, this place clearly had its own set of rules. “Nu-uh!” I couldn’t help but chuckle a bit at the child’s behavior. I wasn’t the biggest fan of children, but there was something about this scene that just made me laugh. Maybe it was just because it was a little absurd to me. However, the child soon stopped arguing with Serris, and after taking a look around, seemed to realize something that she probably should have sooner. “Momma?” Uh-oh. With a sniffle, the Harpy child wiped her wing across her eyes , sounding like she was on the verge of tears. “M-momma?” Straightening myself up a bit, I gently freed the small child from Serris’s grasp, ignoring the pout the Wurm gave me as I set the Harpy on the ground. The child turned to face me, reminding me of a few times when children would get lost in the library, her lips trembling in fear and her eyes quickly beginning to water up. Speaking gently just like I would at work, I leaned down to the child’s level, trying to look as reassuring as I could. I figured that, since her mother could probably also fly, they’d find us pretty quickly if the child just stayed put here. “Were you with your mom just before you came to us?” Sniffling and furiously wiping her eyes, the child nodded, losing whatever her original response was to a hiccup. I ruffled her hair gently, which just got her to grab ahold of my arm with her wings and hold on tight, still hiccupping. “Well, she’s probably close by then. Shoot, she’s probably looking for you right now-“ “Keia!” Right on cue. A much larger Harpy rapidly descended to the ground, with wings so white that if I had seen her in the sky I probably wouldn’t realize she even had them, with a look of relief that put to shame any parent finding their lost child at the library. “Momma!” With a squeal, the child (apparently name Keia) released my arm and hopped, apparently lacking the finer points of walking, over to her mother. “Momma!” Embracing the small girl, the older Harpy whispered gently to the child. With a sigh, however, she pulled away at arm’s length, and I knew what was coming; the scolding. “What did I tell you about wandering off? You’re still getting used to your wings, I don’t want you getting out of my sight if you suddenly get too tired to fly! What would have happened if-” She finally spared Serris and I a glance, as if suddenly realizing we were here. “-Oh, Serris!” Serris lazily waved at the Harpy, although I felt her tail tighten around my leg just a bit. Glancing between the two, I felt like I might have been missing something. “You two friends?” The older Harpy stood upright, shaking her head slightly. “Not really. Just neighbors.” She cast a look at me, her eyes moving across me as she seemed to give me a once-over. “So this is last night’s prize, hmm? I hope he was worth all the racket you caused last night.” She spoke with just a hint of annoyance, giving my companion a sideways look. “I swear, you’d think that the mountain was just collapsing.” “It woke everyone up!” Keia chirped, her demeanor bubbly once more now that her mother was here. “It was like getting to stay up late!” The white-winged Harpy shushed the young girl, shaking her head again. I was silent for a moment, not having realized just how loud the fight had actually been until now… Although I wondered if it was maybe just a bit of an exaggeration. Serris, on the other hand, didn’t seem all that bothered, her head once again resting lazily on my lap. “Still, I think you’d both like to know that the Ushi-Oni won’t be bothering the two of you anytime soon.” The Harpy continued, casting a glance skyward, probably getting ready to depart. “Oh? Well, I guess not even something like that could survive that long a fall…” I started, but was interrupted by a short laugh. “Oh, she’s not dead.” She actually broke out into a fit of giggles as my jaw dropped, not quite sure that I had heard that right. “We went to go check everything out this morning, see just how bad the damage was. Something broke her fall, so she just barely survived, but she was out cold for a while. After that it was just a matter of her species’ regenerative ability… She’s still hurt, as far as we can tell… Actually, one of her horns was snapped right off, don’t think that’ll ever grow back… But the reason I say she won’t bother you again is that she’s found her own man.” I blinked. “Really?” “Actually it’s more accurate to say that the man found her. Tried to help her too, of all things. Not sure where they are now, but good luck to him.” I leaned back, slightly relieved… But also very, very surprised. Surviving a fall from so high? Breaking your fall or not, that was some serious luck. Or a serious drive to survive. “Anyways, thank you for finding my daughter.” The older Harpy gave a light bow, smiling gently. I didn’t bother to correct her by pointing out that her daughter actually found us. Small details, really. “Come on Keia, lemme see you pump those wings!” Scrunching up her small face, the child Harpy flapped and flapped, at first doing little more than awkward hops. Soon, though, one of her little jumps took, and she slowly began to ascend, panting slightly. I found myself hoping the little bird didn’t exhaust herself just by trying to take off, as silly as she looked. Her white-winged mother took off far more gracefully, and soon both were up in the air and lost from sight, Keia’s happy babbling echoing on the breeze. Still, I allowed myself a smile, finding that this little walk had been worthwhile after all. Nudging Serris with my elbow, I rose to my feet. “Well, shall we get back to our little cave as well?” With a smile of her own, Serris moved in front of me, taking ahold of my arm in her hand, guiding us back to what, for what was for now, home. Day 3 - Half-Blood - I blearily opened my eyes, wriggling a bit in Serris’s usual wrap as I tried to free a hand. I wasn’t entirely sure what time it was, but as they said, nature called. Pulling an arm free, I gave my companion (and living bed, for all intents and purposes) a few hard pokes. “Leggo Serris, gotta go out..” With a yawn and her own sleepy grumble, I felt her grip loosen on me, though she didn’t bother getting up herself. With a pat to her head, I slowly stumbled out of the cave, shivering slightly as the cool morning air woke me up a bit. Glad that I had found the pants, I hopped down the stack of boulders Serris had made the other day. I had noted that it would be a pain if Serris had to get me up and down the ledge every single time, so I had gently suggested we make some sort of stairway. Serris not-so-gently set about to smash part of the mountain itself to find just enough stones large enough (and flat enough) to support weight without tipping over. It wasn’t much to look at, but it got an ‘A’ for function. And really, when it was this early in the morning, that’s pretty much all I cared about. Taking care of business in the small grove hidden just around the bend, I was about halfway back when to the cave when I felt a hand suddenly clamped over my mouth, another hand holding tightly to my arm. Now very awake, I let out a muffled yelp when I felt another body press against my back, a voice whispering in my ear. “Don’t make too much noise. If you wake up the Wurm in the cave, we’re both going to be in a world of trouble. Do you understand?” I tried to turn my head to get a better look at whoever was grabbing me, but her (it was definitely a her, hardly a surprise though) grip only tightened, and began to tug me backwards. “I’m trying to help you, quit struggling so much.” The stranger hissed in my ear… And strangely, I suddenly felt compelled to listen, although I could hardly tell why. Perhaps it was just her voice… As harsh as it sounded, there was something… Dangerous, about it. I blinked once, and realized that some serious warning bells were going off here. Sort of a “stranger danger” moment. But there was no way I was getting free on my own like this; whoever this was had to also be a Mamano, given how suddenly she had appeared. So, with a nod, I began to follow her lead, and I felt her relax as her grip loosened just slightly… “Sorry for jumping you like this, but I don’t think you realize just how much danger you were in just there…” The sincerity in her voice caught me off guard, and I wondered for a moment if I should just try telling her that I wasn’t actually in any danger in there. “I’ll get you to one of the towns, off the mountain. That’ll put you at a good enough distance where she won’t be able to find you… After that…” Well, there was no way I was ditching my friend like that. Wrenching my mouth free, I took advantage of her surprise and spun myself around, pushing away from her. Thankfully, her grip had relaxed enough that I actually managed to get away with it, and although I lost my balance in the process, I at least was free, and could finally get a better look at the newcomer. Unlike Serris or the Harpies, she was actually fully dressed, though everything she was wearing was quite tight-fitting and left little to the imagination… What little I could see, at least, since she was wearing all black with red trimmings, a cloak that was as dark as the night sky swayed gently in the mountain breeze, and a wide brimmed hat with similar red trimmings that helped to obscure most of her face. What little I could make out of her skin was shockingly pale, although that simply could have been a trick of the moonlight, what little there was right now. Alright, now there were some serious warning bells going off here. “Look, appreciate the thought, but I don’t need rescuing tonight. Serris beat you to it.” “Serris?” “The Wurm you think you’re saving me from.” The figure fell silent; her cloak pulled around her as she (probably, I couldn’t really tell) stared at me for a few moments. I found myself wondering if Serris would come looking if I didn’t get back soon… I was pretty sure that her reaction to this would probably be less then pleasant though. “I see.” She finally spoke, her head inclining forward slightly. “I apologize, I was under the impression that you were either being held against your will or were simply wandering into danger.” I shrugged, not really bothered since she hadn’t meant any harm. “I think the only danger is her appetite, but I figure I’ll build stamina along the way. Could be worse.” The stranger chuckled quietly, nodding her head. “Yes, I suppose it could.” Something seemed a little off about her... She had begun to sway slightly, and her head was starting to droop for just a few moments at a time. “Then… I shall be on my way…” I was rather surprised I hadn’t noticed it sooner… But on the other hand, she was almost melting into the darkness, for lack of a better term, so it was hard enough to see her as it was. “You alright there?” I didn’t exactly owe her anything, but I could at least be polite and see if she at least wanted somewhere to rest up before she went off to do who-knew-what. She shook her head, waving a dismissive hand towards me as she turned away. “Don’t trouble yourself with me. I am fine.” Without another word, she all but vanished into the night again, the only thing giving her away were the sounds of quiet footsteps, slowly fading from hearing range. Not entirely convinced, but at the same time not able to pursue her, I headed back for the cave again, glad to find that Serris hadn’t woken up, although her hands were constantly opening and closing, trying to grab someone that wasn’t there. Not wanting to disappoint, I climbed back into her coils, which soon tightened around me again, her hands finally wrapping around what they were looking for. Cozy and warm, but still with a question or two, I let myself fall back to sleep, figuring I’d worry about it in the morning. ------------------------------------------------------------- “Serris found something!” With a ‘whump’, the Wurm dropped her find behind me, turning my attention away from the bookshelf and to the ground where, along with her usual catch of mutilated meat and lumberjack prowess, lay the stranger, although this time she was not moving at all. Sinking to my knees for a better look, I glanced up at Serris with a quirked eyebrow. “Where’d you find her?” “Lying under tree.” “This one?” “Yes.” The Wurm wrinkled her face slightly, looking a little puzzled. “You also have her smell.” I cleared my throat, returning my attention to the unconscious woman. “Might have run into her last night…. Put down that chair.” Shooting Serris a glare, I flipped stranger on her back. “You’re not hitting an unconscious – Serris, put down the tree!” My companion huffed, folding her arms and noisily dropping the foliage to the ground. “She didn’t do anything to me, we just talked. That’s all.” Hoping that would keep Serris from getting any more ideas, I finally got a good look at the stranger, and was surprised by just how human she looked. Hell, if I wasn’t already suspicious, I would have written her off as human without a second thought. But there was still that something that was just… Off. “Just what are you, lady?” I muttered, lowering an ear to her chest to make sure she was actually still alive, greeted with a slow, steady thumping. Her breathing, however, was shallow and raspy, not a good thing. Brushing aside her bangs (I swear her hair was colored like silver, but then again colors were never my strong suit), I pressed the back of my hand to her forehead, grimacing. “Bit of a fever, looks flushed, wasn’t able to stay steady on her feet last night…” I shook my head, heading for the bedroll. “Can’t say I’m surprised, look at what she’s wearing, probably bakes every time the sun comes up… Serris, could you go through the waterfall and see if there’s any bowls lying around in there?” Hearing the responding splash, I snatched up the bedroll and fluffed it out a bit, shaking free the dust and dirt that had settled on it. “Alright, hope she doesn’t mind me taking off her cloak…” Undoing the clasp around her neck, I tugged the black garment away and folded it, setting it atop the table for safe keeping. Turning back to her, I couldn’t help but whistle, not sure I was believing what I was seeing. “Jeez lady, were you going to war or something?” A crossbow, several vials of water, a length of rope, more daggers than I would think anyone could ever need, and a longsword. “Well no wonder you’re so unwell. Where are your supplies you twit? Do you just eat your daggers or something, good grief.” Sighing, I began unstrapping her weapons, setting them all along with her cloak and hat. “Find anything Serris?” The Wurm poked her head out from the waterfall, drenching herself further and yet not caring in the slightest. “No bowl. Found cup though. Good?” I smiled, flashing a thumbs-up. “Even better than a bowl. Bring it here, please.” Happy with the praise, my companion quickly crossed the length of the pool and clambered out, carefully carrying the cup in question between two of her claws. “Just set it down beside me, Serris. If you’d like, break up the wood like you did yesterday and I’ll get a fire going as soon as our friend here is situated.” Having her occupied once again (and also removing a potential weapon), I tucked the young woman into the covers of the bedroll, rolling up one of the rugs to tuck it under her head like a pillow. Satisfied with that, at least, I filled the cup with water and set it beside her, not sure if there was much else I could do for her except wait. Well, that and start the fire and get breakfast going. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Though they have not made any attempts to hunt us further since we have settled here, I am growing concerned with my wife’s behavior as of late. Though she does not show this around the child, Nadine has been becoming restless and short-tempered. Last night, when she thought I was asleep, she began to mutter to herself about “running tests” and “finding more participants”. I have no earthly idea what she is referring to, but I’m wondering if -(the next few lines are scratched out and unreadable)- No, no. The thought is too unsettling to bear right now. She is likely just becoming bored… I can hardly blame her for that, honestly. Perhaps we can try to find if there is a town or some such nearby tomorrow. That should add a little variety to our day. On a side note, I think I might have caught a bit of a cold. I’ve been having some rather bothersome coughing fits that do little for my already tired body. Ah, the curse of growing old. -Walter |

M'BACK. Real-life cannibal Serris It's pretty safe to say that I'd already figured out what my days were going to be like if I stuck with Serris. Long periods of sleep? Check. Food? Check. Longer periods of her mating with me until I could neither walk nor see straight for a couple of hours? Check. Lazing about after said period? Check. Rinse and repeat. She was a simple one, to be sure. But now she had me (which she was giving the distinct impression that this was the greatest thing ever), and now we had an unconscious third party. She was still on the fence with that one. With a pop of my shoulders, I settled onto her coils, which at this point I had decided as being my new favorite post-copulation lounging spot. Her softer underside, combined with the scales, made for a surprisingly comfy place to loaf about, especially since I didn't really need to worry about hurting her (honestly I was pretty sure that if I punched her with all that I had, the only thing I would end up hurting is myself and maybe her feelings). So as I settled into this usual position, she draped her human half across my lap, dark green eyes narrowed at the other woman in what appeared to be silent contemplation, a single claw tapping the cave floor. Absentmindedly running my own hands through her long hair (an action I found rather relaxing), I figured I might as well try to get to the bottom of her sudden mood shift. "Penny for your thoughts?" Her baffled expression reminded me that, given her location, she probably wasn't all that familiar with phrases like that... Or what a penny was. "What's on your mind, I mean." Her response was to huff quietly, leaning her head closer to me to allow better hair-stroking access. "Oh come on, I'm not that bad already, am I?" I meant that as a joke, but now she just looked shocked. "Serris never get bored of mate!" She exclaimed, temporarily distracted from whatever it was she was brooding on. "You've only known me for about a week, Serris." Now she just looked at me like I said something completely inane before nuzzling her head against mine, humming. I swear sometimes it was her version of purring... "Seriously though, you've been giving her the evil eye on and off ever since you brought her here." She huffed again, flopping back down onto my lap. "Hey, you're the one who brought her here in the first place." "Not sure if good idea now." I rolled my eyes. "First you brought her in, then you try to bludgeon her, then you help me take care of her, and now you're unsure again." I tapped her forehead. "You sure seem to make decisions on the fly there. Why'd you even take her in the first place?" "Hungry." I chuckled for about a second before I realized what she said. "Serris, you were planning on [i[eating[/i] her." "Maybe." I had no idea if she was joking or not, she was being completely deadpan. And now I was seriously beginning to question what I'd been eating now. "Serris..." "Maybe." "This isn't funny, Serris." I gave one of her horns a tug, forcing her to look at me (if at least a bit), but all I got was a pouting face in return. "You're not eating another person." "Serris thinks it funny. Ha ha." "You and I have some very different opinions on humor then." Letting go of her horn, I leaned back against her, a sigh escaping my lips. "You're not gonna eat her." "Can't stop me. Serris do it right now." For a moment, I thought she was actually going to make good on that, but she didn't so much as budge. "...Worried." Now we were getting somewhere... Though I was still a little wary. "About what?" "She undead." Or she was just making stuff up. "She may be a bit on the pale side, but that doesn't make her a zombie, Serris." "Zombies different. Not zombie." She thought on it for a moment, before nodding with a sense of finality. "Vampire." I blinked once. Twice. Did that really come out of her mouth? "Zombies and vampires? You gotta be kidding." "No. You read book?" I clicked my tongue, realizing that I hadn't... At least not all the way. "Mostly just skimmed. Only species that I paid any attention to was yours." She seemed pleased with that, but pointed at the woman again. "Smells like vampire." "You make it sound like you've met one before." She didn't respond to that one, and honestly that was even more concerning. "C'mon, I think you're being a little over-dramatic here." "No. She dangerous. Had your scent on her." Oh... Well, that would make sense. It was starting to look like a bit of a misunderstanding, so perhaps it would be wise of me to clear this up... Though as I thought back, there was something... Off about her. Her voice had just been so easy to listen to, but her strength, though only just a grip, seemed a bit more than what her size allowed (compared to Serris, who was as strong as she looked). Not to mention her skin and hair seemed to be glow in an ethereal beauty in the moonlight... And on top of that I'm pretty sure her eyes had been glowing softly. Okay, so maybe Serris was onto something. But I wasn't going to write off someone who needed help. "Look, I know you're looking out for us, but let's not be hasty." She huffed again, but quickly jerked her head with a low snarl when the other pale woman let out a shaky, dry breath. For a moment, I thought she was going to regain consciousness, but no such luck. "Let's just keep her till she wakes up, see what she's got to say, and if you're really feeling strongly on it we'll send her on her way if she's able." Grumbling, she began to shift about, prompting me to stumble off of her as she began to slither towards the mouth of the cave, mumbling what sounded like "Hungry" as she vanished out of sight. With a sigh, I shook my head after her, not quite sure what had her so worked up, figuring that I might as well make myself useful and prep up the remains of the morning's tree for the fire and tend to our... Or maybe just my, guest. Next chapter already on the way! |

What a beautiful surprise to find in the morning! Our adorable Serris is back!! Glad to see you're back, your story is one with the best in terms of storytelling and characters behaviour. Not to speak about the cute things. Let's celebrate with an old quote of yours, that I think could be one of the best ever. echoes_guy said: "To be totally honest, I still have no idea what I was thinking at that moment, although the phrase "hold my beer" came to mind." |

Was tempted to name this chapter "Last-minute ideas" or something along those lines. Why? Heh. On a side note: Just wanted to give a big thank you for the warm welcome-back ya'll gave me. Surprised anyone remembered this, but I do promise to make more regular updates once again. Or at least semi-regular ones! Delma Sleep was... Restless. I'd never been a very sound sleeper before, but as of these past few days it had been increasingly unsettled. Vague, menacing figures, all lined up in rows in a courtroom that seemed far too large, the sound of a gavel pounding in my ears, and the rising cacophony of "guilty" "Guilty" "GUILTY" That's how I woke up this night... Or maybe it was early morning. It was still dark out, so there was no telling really. And in my cold sweat, with heart racing and head pounding, I didn't care so much. Serris's tightening embrace reminded me where I was, though. Here, not there. A cave, not in court. Wrapped up by my only friend in this crazy place (but what a friend to have). I don't know what I was doing in my sleep, but I had woken her up, but her only response was to tuck my head under her chin, nuzzling gently as she wrapped me up in her secure embrace. Safe. Not exactly home, but safe. Sighing shakily, I let myself relax, just focusing on my companion's breathing and strong and steady heartbeat. Oddly comforting noises, honestly. The sound of something stumbling, muttered curses. Maybe not so safe. Serris was immediately on alert, unwinding herself from me and slowly stalking down the tunnel, back towards the main chamber of the cave, a rumbling growl in her throat. I was quick on my feet too, not about to be caught with my pants down against a potential intruder. Dozens of potential threats ran through my head; wild animals? Another human? The cops (highly unlikely, but I wasn't ruling that out at the moment, nightmare and all)? The Ushi-Oni, back for round two? I really hoped it wasn't that. That Mamano scared me on a level that was hard to describe, and I wasn't even afraid of spiders. Following closely after the Wurm, we both emerged into the main chamber to find one single thing amiss; the "vampire" was not where we left her. Rather, she was scooping up handfuls of water from the pool, finally awake. I wasn't sure if she was completely better or if her fever had broken, but the fact that she was up and about was a good sign. Content that we weren't in any danger, I felt it wise to step out and begin to approach her. Not a good idea, I quickly found out. Finally taking notice, the young woman spun around with a water-sputtering gasp, her hand quickly reaching for where she thought she had left her weapons (very glad I took those off her person when she came here). Not finding a single one, she began to back away, muttering "no" very quickly. Panicked, no doubt confused where she was. Easy to diffuse... Probably. Serris didn't take it the same way, and saw the move as a threat, snarling loudly as she very quickly closed the distance and slammed the "intruder" against the cave wall, pinning the weakened woman against the wall with ease. No matter how she writhed and shoved, the Wurm was not so much as budging. Rather, she just tightened her grip and lifted her even higher. It was a very safe bet that she was going to turn the poor sucker into a new form of cave painting if I didn't do something. Course, my options were limited, so I needed to think on my feet. 'What would distract Serris?', I thought. Throw something at her? That would just be mean... And I wasn't a great shot anyways. Might hit the other woman by accident and that might just make it worse. Shout? No, shouting would make this confusion even worse. Wait and watch? No, that was just stupid. And then it hit me. I didn't have food, so appealing to her stomach was out of the question. I could appeal to a different appetite though... To hell with it, what's the worst that could happen... Well, hours of mindless copulation, but unless my pelvis shattered and got turned to dust I think I could deal with it. So ignoring the adrenaline boner (which, to be fair, was partially because of what I was going to do), I strolled right up next to her, reached around to her human waist, and knowing that this would come back to fuck me later, pried apart the scales used to cover her vagina and stuck a few fingers in. Right then and there. It got quiet real fast. Now looking a bit baffled with a heavy dose of arousal, the slowly reddening Serris turned to face me, blinking a few times. "Now?" She didn't seem upset so much as surprised, honestly. Given that she'd initiated sex every single other time, that might be warranted . Freeing my hand, I shook it a bit to attempt to dry off if only slightly (cripes she gets wet fast), clicking my tongue as I patted her arm. "No, not now. Right now, you gotta let her go." Now she seemed upset again, a glare darting over to the silver-haired woman still pinned against the wall. Thankfully, she seemed able to breath now at least, but she still looked pretty frightened and confused... Couldn't blame her. "Just let go from the wall Serris. Remember what we talked about earlier?" "...Yes." Nodding, I motioned towards the ground. "Alright, then let's just put her down here, and we'll sort this out." "P-please." The other woman sputtered out, wincing as Serris began to tighten her grip again. Frowning, I gestured for the ground again, more worried than frustrated. "C'mon." The serpentine woman stared at her captive for a few seconds more before pulling back, dropping the woman to the floor with an unceremonious thud, leaving her to cough and rub her collarbone as I moved to help her up. Serris just slithered back a bit, resting on her coils and just glaring. Waiting for a slip up, no doubt. Rubbing her arm in appreciation as she passed by, I hoisted the other woman to her feet and began helping her hobble back to the pool's edge. She didn't try to resist... Which at first seemed odd, but considering the situation (and the very hostile Wurm off to the side), probably for the best. Not a great foot to start on... "It's... You." Alright, so she recognized me. After taking another deep drink of water, she turned her bleary eyes to me... And yes, they were indeed red and softly glowing. Eerie. "Why am I..." "You collapsed not too far from where we met the other night. Serris over there found you and brought you here." No need to let her in on the fact that the Wurm may or may not have been joking on the whole eating thing... "You've been unconscious the entire day, so I've been keeping an eye on you." "And... My gear?" "On the table in the alcove back here." I jerked a thumb in it's direction, not missing the relieved sigh she tried to hide. "Honestly, all that black, in a place like this? Not much shade and a whole lot of sun. No wonder you dropped like you did." I stood up and went to examine her belongings. "Plus, no water, no food? C'mon now." She ducked her head at my admonishing. "I just ran out, that's all..." "Callin' bullshit on that one. You look like you're been running on empty for days." "What... What does it matter to you?" She shakily rose to her feet. "I'm grateful that you helped me, but..." She grunted before stumbling back to the floor again, where she tried to get back up again. "I might be playing the Good Samaritan here, but you ain't goin' nowhere." Helping her up again, I led her back to the bedroll she had been previously lying on. "I'm gonna fake my doctorate and say you need some bedrest and food before you go anywhere." Even as I helped her down she continued to protest. "Y-you don't understand... I... I have to..." She was already starting to nod off, the adrenaline finally wearing down to be replaced with weariness. "They... home..." Shushing her, I made sure she was comfortable before stepping back, watching as she fell silent with sleep once again. Call it a little cliched, but it was the Boy Scout in me. The whole "help other people at all times" thing... And maybe a little bit of ego too, but what did that matter. Nodding, I rested my hands on my hips, knowing what would cure Serris of her bad mood... For at least the time being. Wouldn't be great for sleep, but hey, there wasn't exactly any problem with sleeping in around here. "Alright Serris, now." I was very quickly lifted into the air and brought right down the tunnel by a very eager Serris. Easy to distract, indeed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- -That Morning... Or maybe early afternoon- Now that was a good sleep. I might have been sore as all get-go, but I think that plan of mine paid off pretty well. Waking up in a tangled mess of coils, with Serris sporting a dopey, content smile as she snored, drooling slightly. No idea what she was dreaming about, but I had to hope that it was pleasant. Could get used to this sight, honestly... Grunting, I gave my back a good crack, stretched out my legs, threw on the pants, and went to make sure that our guest was still here and hadn't, oh, say, tried to sneak away. Thankfully that potential setup didn't come to pass. But she was awake, and had propped herself up in one of the chairs, her face hidden behind her hands. Hoping to avoid another startling (she was a lot closer to her weapons this time), I cleared my throat, ready to duck out of the way. From what? Well, she did have a crossbow... She did give a start, but when she saw it was just me she eased slightly, but her demeanor was still guarded, like an animal ready to bolt... Or bite. "Sooooo..." Drawling out a bit, I moved into the main chamber, trying to look as unassuming as possible. Nice and easy... "How're you feelin'? You moved on your own, so that's good." She continued to silently watched me, still not looking any more at ease. Awkward silence, thy presence is felt this day. Coughing, I attempted to think of any one thing to break the ice, any simple little thing that would put her a bit at ease. Would be a poor host if I didn't at least try. "Well... Weather is nice around here, air's clean, water always bizarrely cool and pure, and we're recently short one Ushi-Oni." That got a brief moment of surprise to cross her. "An Ushi-Oni." "Yeah. She came after me when I first got here in nothing but my birthday suit in the middle of the night. Then I ran into Serris and she freaking threw the spider over the edge of the cliff." Well, there was more to it than that, and it wasn't so much as throw as it was push... But details, details. The storyteller in me liked to embellish a bit. "I assume the Wurm that... Greeted me, is Serris?" I nodded, inwardly relieved that it wouldn't be a total silent stare-down. "Yep. She's normally got a really sweet demeanor, so I have no idea what got her so wound up last night." Well, I had theories, but theories didn't really amount to much. "Granted, I've only been here for a little more than a week, so I can't say for sure..." "What?" She looked interested now, leaning forward in her chair as if to examine me. "How did someone like you wind up here so high in the first place... And nude, none the less?" Someone like me? I know I didn't look like a mountain man, but come out, I wasn't that scrawny. "Just woke up a little ways from here." "Just... Woke up here." She repeated slowly, her gaze darting to something behind me for a moment before looking back to me. Serris, if the dragging noise was any indication. "Yep, just like that- Morning Serris." I reached up for the Wurm's head as she propped it on mine, glad to hear her humming again. "Still no idea where I am, really." "And no idea how you got here?" For the briefest moment I heard the crowd and the firing of a gun again. Just for a moment, I felt unfocused and not here. But only just a moment. "No, not at all." I squeezed Serris's claw for just a moment, and she gently squeezed back. I was starting to wonder just how badly I was sleeping at night now... She eyed me for a moment, and I was worried that our guest caught my brief lapse. But she closed her eyes instead, and muttered softly to herself. "An off-worlder..." I blinked, puzzled with the term. "Pardon?" She glanced at me again, brow furrowed. "Nothing." Look who was trying to steer conversation now. "So clearly I was wrong for worrying about your well-being that night." Making a mental note on the whole "off-worlder" thing, I decided to roll with this for now. "I've got food, space, clean water, and no shortage of exercise. Though the reading material here is a bit odd." There was a ghost of a smile. "I imagine." Idle conversation. Good. "So how'd you know there was a Wurm here anyways?" "Everyone knows this Serris's turf." The Wurm in question decided to interject now, though I could hear her stomach rumbling. Like clockwork, she was. "Mate hungry?" "After last night, I could use the protein." "Food!" Nuzzling my head (and shooting the woman a warning glare), Serris was quickly out of here, ready to maim more wildlife. "She's... Simple, isn't she?" She spoke hesitantly, as if worried Serris was going to suddenly came barreling back into the cave. I shrugged. "She's caring... And very earnest." Couldn't help the fondness there. The woman snorted, but I swore there was another brief smile there. "To answer your question, most communities keep tabs on powerful Mamano like Wurms, especially when they decide to make their nest nearby. Larger towns and cities don't worry quite as much, but it's still a generally accepted practice." I frowned, not liking the implication. "Are they that much of a danger?" I found it hard to imagine Serris doing something warranting that kind of reaction. "Mostly to livestock and men... And anyone that gets in their way when they're hungry or horny and looking for either. Or, lords help you, both. Then they menace anything that happens to be in their way. People, structures, trees, boulders..." She listed them off easily, and I couldn't help but grimace a bit. "Still, you're in good hands if she's already decided that you're her mate. Though good luck trying to get rid of her." Now there was something I honestly couldn't see myself doing. "So when you tried to... Er, 'rescue', me?" I put the rescue in air quotes, though I didn't hold anything against her for it. She blushed a bit, a tad flustered. "Ah... You were just wandering on your own, and, well..." Sheepishly scratching the back of her neck, she offered an actual smile this time. "I didn't know if you were just lost or... Or something, so I thought it would be better if you were somewhere safer... Well, I mean, other Mamano might jump you there too, but..." My she was on a roll... And was everyone here man-crazy? Good grief... But the ice was broken, and at last she seemed relaxed. Which meant she wasn't about to stick me with something sharp if I sneezed. Offering my most welcoming smile, I held out a hand. "Name's Roger... But that's my dad's name. Call me Dean." She hesitated for a moment, but smiling softly, she took my hand with her own for a shake. "Delma... And thank you for saving my life." She laughed, softly at first. "Though I must admit, you certainly caught even me off guard." I couldn't help but laugh with her, enjoying the sound. "Stick around, I'm full of em'." This was a good second try. Why another chapter so soon? Finals. Give ya'll somethin' to tide you over for the week... Shoot, might try my hand at one of the short stories. |

So I didn't read this the first time, but boy am I glad you're continuing it! It's great! echoes_guy said: As I carefully picked my way along the trail, I couldn’t help but note that at least the plant life, what little there was, didn’t seem that unusual. So at least the threat of alien abduction was crossed off my list of “how-the-hell-did-I-get-here”. Also, I’m pretty sure that aliens wouldn’t leave me naked and lying… wherever I was. So then what was this? A reality show for convicts that was hidden from the public? Heaven? Hell? A hallucination as I lay in a coma after being shot? echoes_guy said: As far as I knew, I had died once already, and I was in no rush to die a second time (If that was even possible. I still had no idea where I was, after all.). I really like how you try to figure where you are, original and funny. That fight in Day, Part 3 was exceptional, riveting, dramatic but not obnoxious. Bloody good job sir, bloody good. The Day 1, Part 4 sex was also good, no worries there. =) --- Don't let it die again, I really like how you write and it's clear you put a lot of effort into your writing. Don't waste it! =) So all the players are in, I really like both Delma and Serris, they make for an interesting contrast too. |

Yeah, Serris is pretty awesome. New chick is going to have some serious mountains to move to get anywhere close. Seems like she might be up for trying, at least. |

GUESS WHO'S BACK... AGAIN. AGAIN. AGAIN. BUT HEY I should actually be sticking around for good this time. Done with college, found work, plenty of time to daydream what to do next... Good times all around. Fever and Flight Despite Delma's seemingly improved condition at first, over the course of several days she started taking a nose-dive. She ate and drank less, slept more, and was more often than not drenched in her own sweat on what were normally gorgeous days. Not to mention the fever she developed just would not break. I had no idea what she had but I was praying to whatever gods there were around here that it wasn't contagious. On the flip side, kind of ruled out the possibility of her being a Vampire. After all, what kind of undead got sick? Which, speaking of, was still kind of hard to wrap my head around. Sure, I had taken a look at the encyclopedia and, sure enough, there were a variety of undead around here, but where i had been kinda willing to accept that beings like Serris existed around here, undead required a element that some affectionately referred to as "magic". And although my arrival here was mysterious, I was still clinging to the idea that something around here would start making some sense. Silly me, I suppose. Serris, on the other hand, remained adamant on Delma's vampiric nature, and was becoming increasingly antsy about keeping her around. She would stare her down whenever she thought I wasn't looking, and seemed plenty determined to make every excuse to keep me from being around the woman. Which tended to repeat, given that there wasn't a whole lot to do around here. But as I sat in the shade with Serris once more, in our usual position of post-whatever lounging, I started thinking hard. Delma, when we first met, had made the implications that there were towns - nearby, if she had intended to bring me to one of them. So perhaps, if such was the case, there might be some form of medical aid. And, if I was lucky, other humans who would be able to explain just what the hell was going on. The trick would be finding such a town. And finding a way there. And convincing Serris to actually go along with the idea, because there was no way I was going to try to make a trip on my own. That last one was probably going to be the hardest part. The first two, however, I already had an inkling on how to tackle. "Mate?" Serris's curiosity-laced voice brought me out of my train of thought, and as I looked down at her I realized I had absentmindedly been messing with her hair, which I seemed to have draped over her face. Whoops. Maybe when we found a town I'd try and find a comb. "Sorry, just thinking." She hummed, and with a thoughtful look, puffed some of her hair out of her face. "Penis for your thoughts?" The sound I made can scarcely be described. I'm pretty sure it was laughter, and I'm pretty sure I woke up the neighbors with my cackling. Serris just looked confused, apparently not quite sure what she did that warranted such a reaction. As I finally started to take gasping breaths, I opted to just bury myself in her hair for a bit, still shaking vigorously. "Okay... Okay, alright, I'm okay." Panting, I wiped my eyes a bit. To anyone else, it might not have been the pinnacle of comedy, but she was just so sincere about it that I just couldn't help myself. "Good try, Serris, but it's 'penny', not penis." Trying, and failing, to suppress another bout of chortling, I felt Serris sigh as she shuffled around, the sound of an impatiently tapping claw on stone indicating that she wasn't as nearly as amused as I was. She did ask a question though. Might as well answer it and find out what her reaction was going to be. "Alright, I'm okay. Phew." Finally lifting myself out of her wild hair, I took a deep breath as I regained my composure. "I was just thinking about what we should do for Delma. What with her not looking much better." "Get rid of her?" And now she sounded far too hopeful. "Not even close." Ignoring her protesting grumble, I drummed my fingers along one of her horns. "I was thinking we should bring her to town-" "No." Well that was fast. "Oh come on, Serris, we can't just sit around and do nothing." She gave me a rather questioning quirk of the eyebrow before starting to open her mouth, which I quickly put a hand over. "What we're doing right now doesn't count. This is relaxing. Totally different from doing nothing." She thought on that for a moment before shrugging, nodding a bit. Score one for semantics. "Seriously though, she needs help. We're in a position to help. And to be totally honest I'm starting to get a little stir-crazy." "What?" Another phrase unknown to her. "It means I'm getting restless. Jittery. I gotta do something new or I'm going to go crazy." A bit of a stretch. But she had fallen totally silent now, which encouraged me as much as it worried me. "C'mon, it'll change things up a bit. Meet some new people. Maybe get something to add some flavor to the meat." That last one got a quiet "Huh?" from her. Alright, she was interested... Now to hook and reel. "Oh sure, you can add all sorts of spices and flavors to meat, make it really delicious, you know?" "...No?" "No you don't know, or no you aren't interested?" "Yes?" "Serris that's not the least bit helpful." My turn to sigh, it seemed. I couldn't tell if she was just not getting what I was saying, or if she was intentionally being difficult. And to be honest, the latter wouldn't have surprised me. "Besides, it's not good for us humans to only eat meat. I love meat, don't get me wrong, but I gotta get more in my diet to stay healthy. A town might have what we need for that too." Hell, might be able to see if I could get a garden set up or something. I knew a thing or two about farming, but if I was going to be completely honest I wasn't sure how suitable conditions would be up here. Best to cross that bridge when I got to it. Luckily, my well-being seemed to get the Wurm thinking, now looking less and less grumpy about the whole concept. She didn't look thrilled, mind, but she was looking a lot more contemplative. I kinda had to wonder what exactly her thought process was in this whole thing. An enigma, to be sure. After some length, she finally sighed, casting me a rather defeated expression. "Mate really wants to go?" Giving her head a good scratching, I couldn't help but smile a bit. Wasn't expecting her to relent so quickly... Might have misjudged her intentions. "Yeah. It's not like I'm ditching you, you silly lizard. Where would I be without you, eh?" Totally genuine with that one, I'd probably either be dead from starvation, dehydration, or the fuck-toy of the Ushi-Oni without her. Getting snuggly again, Serris smiled gently at that, though she did give me that look again, stating matter-of-factly "Serris not lizard. Serris is Wurm." "Course, course." Laughing, I gave her a quick peck before moving onto the next step. "So, any idea where to go?" "No." So much for that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As night fell, a few plans were laid out. First, once morning came around we'd look for the white-feathered neighbor of ours. A (no pun intended. Or was it?) bird's eye view might help find what we were looking for. If nothing else she might be able to point us to someone who could. Though, to be fair, the only reason she came to mind is because she was the only other person around, as far as I could tell, who wasn't giving Serris a wide berth at all times. If there was anyone else around, at least. Would be kind of a shame if there wasn't and this ended up going nowhere. Searching through the trunks behind the waterfall did yield some useful supplies - waterskins, extra clothing (at last a shirt!), a wide-brimmed hat (awesome), and what appeared to be dislodged entries from Walter's journal... Would have to look at those later. Would be real neat to know why he just up and left all this stuff here. All that was left was fashioning a means to carry Delma. Luckily, a little ingenuity could go a long way. Take the bedroll, lots of branches, the curtains (was going to miss those but whatever it's not like we actually had windows), and Serris's claws and we had ourselves a makeshift stretcher. Delma had briefly awoken while we were getting her situated, but wasn't able to offer much outside of feverish muttering. Something about having been here too long. Hopefully she was referring to her being here and not getting proper help. Because yeah, valid point. Yet as I tried to sleep I found myself restless. In my defense, this was pretty exciting. Who knew what this little expedition would hold? Preferably nothing dangerous. That would be a bit of a buzzkill. And so I tossed. And turned. And sighed and shuffled. I got up out of Serris's coils more than once to stretch out, move around a bit, try to relax my jittery body. And without a means to accurately tell time, I had no idea how long I was doing that. And still don't. And probably never will. Eventually I gave up on doing that and opted to at least quench my non-existent thirst. Taking one of the waterskins, I gave it a dunk into the waterfall pool, took a seat on the stool, and did a little stargazing through the hole in the ceiling. Was a pretty good view, too. Not as good as outside, but the wind at this time could get a little nippy. Hell, even right now it was sounding pretty gusty... Or were those wing beats? Straining to listen a bit better, I tried to tune out the waterfall as I tried to catch that sound... Yes, there it was. Those were definately the sounds of wings. Which kind of surprised me, the harpies didn't seem to be much for flying at night. Unless they were owl harpies. Which sounded pretty cool, honestly. Except if that were the case, I shouldn't be able to hear them. Weren't owls supposed to be totally silent when they flew? Different species and all that, sure, but who knew with anything around here. Still, after a bit it got quiet again, and I wrote it off as late-night harpy flybys. Or, maybe there were just regular-ass birds. Potentially really big ones. Finishing my water, I decided to let the matter go. Maybe there would be sleep aids in town... And a comb. Soap maybe? Herbs and spices. I really should have made a list. In the morning. Finally feeling the tug of sleep, I set aside the waterskin at the table and made for Serris, when again that flapping noise caught my attention. Flapping and scrabbling. What an odd combo. "S'what you get for late night flights, I guess." Yawning, I turned away from the waterfall again, very nearly walking headfirst into someone else's face. "Mm, 'scuse me." Without much further thought on the matter, I made to move around them... Until it hit me that the only two other people who were supposed to be here were asleep, and if it was Serris I would have walked right into her chest rather than her head. Blinking away the sleep that had so quickly gathered in my eyes, I took a few steps back away from the intruder, trying to keep a cool head. Except that that they continued to advance as I stepped away, making a noise that sounded like a hiss and a groan mashed together and uttered by someone who had the worst case of laryngitis. But as the light grew better the closer to the pool we got, the more details I got... And the more aware I was that they hadn't come alone. Long, eye-obscuring hair, dressed in the simplest of rags that were barely holding together. Long, leathery wings that twitched and shuddered, with what seemed to be small holes dotted among the thin membrane. Her - yes, it was a woman, go figure - body was startlingly emaciated, with a number of ugly looking wounds that slowly dripped with dark liquid. "Bats? Bats! Batwomen!" Trying not to raise my voice too much, I kept backpedaling away from the intruder, all-too aware that several others had begun to crawl out of the dark, their expressions (from what I could pick out from behind their hair) worrying. Where Serris or the Ushi-Oni wore their lust pretty clearly, this was more savage-looking, if almost vacant at the same time. And before I could gauge them any further, I was on my ass, tripping backwards in my attempt to keep a distance. The bat-woman uttered some low and wet growl before picking up her pace, shuffling with an unsteady gait as she reached out, teeth gnashing, that same black ichor dribbling from her mouth. All around me, the others seemed to spring into action as well, gathering around, reaching out, hissing and snapping. Yet a few others broke off and began to gather around Delma. And though I would love to wonder why, I had the distinct impression that these women weren't going to make great conversationalists. Starting to panic, I kicked out at the closest Mamano, and to my luck connected with her knees. With a sick pop she dropped to the ground like a ton of bricks, but after a few moments propped herself on her wings and just continued to crawl, undeterred. Human or not, that should have hurt! A lot! What was with these things? More importantly, what was I going to do?? ...Oh. Duh. "Serris!" Mustering every bit of fear I could into my cry, I thrashed against the bat women as best I could. Their intentions were getting clearer now, their wing-claws grabbing onto whatever bit of flesh they could and clamping down hard, their movements becoming more frenzied in response to my own panic... The cavern shook with a deafening roar, and even the invading bats took pause to wonder just what made that noise. They didn't have to wait long. Barreling down the tunnel with a murderous glint in her eyes, Serris barely skidded to a stop before grabbing two of the women and dashing them against each other, tossing them aside like they were ragdolls. Their attention shifted, I tore myself free of the remaining bats before scrabbling out of the way, not wanting to get caught in the crossfire, stopping only for a moment to drag Delma out of the way. I wasn't worried about Serris hurting me by accident... Couldn't say the same for our not-vampire. But damn if it wasn't exciting to watch Serris go to town. Brutal strength in a sometimes cute, sometimes sexy package, the Wurm was as ready to throw down as she was for meat or my meat. Hurling another bat to the ground, she brought her fist down on it's head before sweeping her tail about her, knocking the others off their feet. To their credit, their apparent inability to feel pain was serving them well, but there wasn't much that could do in the wake of having every bone in your body broken by a furious earth dragon girl. Followed by being turned into a splattered mess as the rest of you was knocked out of your body. One sneaky bat women, however, managed to slip away from Serris's onslaught, and began to crawl her way over to the two of us, leaving a trail of that blackened ooze behind her. I was pretty sure blood wasn't supposed to look like that. Just an FYI. "Keep your filthy wings offa me!" Not willing to play the victim, I hopped to my feet, and with a little aim, delivered a well-placed kick to her head... And a second for good measure. And hey, why not a third. And since four was just right out, I brought the count to five to round things out, and with a gurgle her head lolled to the side before slumping to the ground. Panting, I took a few steps back to examine my handiwork... And couldn't help but yelp when she started crawling again, head dragging on the ground. "You've gotta be fucking kidding me!" Getting ready to give her another round of boot to the head, I took a glance up and instead made the wise decision to step back. No sooner had I done so did Serris's tail come crashing down. The bat didn't move again after that. And as I stood in this scene of brutal violence, watching as Serris began gathering up the bodies and hauling them out of the cave, I was left with a singular question that, perhaps, I didn't really want answered. Just what had they come here for? And, perhaps, I already knew the answer. A shriek on the wind and the sound of rapidly distant wings. Just what had I gotten myself into? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -The pages are out of order, it seems...- My name is Walter H. Covington, M.D. I consider myself a man of science and reasoning, dedicated to the betterment of all mankind in the field of medical practice. And yet I find myself challenged on all fronts with where I find myself now. A strange land with stranger women. These... Mamano defy all reasoning, yet here they are. I know not how I got here, nor how to leave. My best hope lies with a violet-eyed woman calling herself Nadine, however. It is thanks to her that I have this journal to write in, and keep record of what happens. With any luck, I shall find a way back home, despite the claims to the contrary. If not, then with God as my witness my work continues here instead. Human or otherwise, if there is good to be done, then so be it. Tomorrow is a new day. I must be ready to face it. |

Elated to see this story continued. Somehow those Werebats don't get any love from anyone. No wonder they all so cranky. Plus Serris is awesome, take good care of her ;-) |

Ah! I think I figured out what might be going on here...which means I can't actually say anything about it. I could be mistaken, but it really feels like that. So since I can't mention that then...uh...good stuff, bring more =) |
