The setting, the premise, the style, the location, the powers, even the characters down to detail are completely the same as the ones from Infinite Stratos.
I don't know what to say. Is this the revolution of the manga series these days? 99% copying other (quality-less) material that happened to become famous?

That aside, I want to keep this thread as a progression marker and a place where you can share your point of view on the originality of these series. I have yet to see one scene. I repeat, one damn scene, which wouldn't be filled with the mainstream focus. Let's see if Gakusen Toshi Asterisk is capable of delivering something on its own, or is it just yet another product that doesn't deserve to be published.

Hey at least MC have backbone and skill in this. I've read up to three LN volume of this and I can say that plot and action wise this is miles better than IS.
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

>no mecha
>magic powers
>co-ed school
>school competition with 6 other schools
How about no?

Sure it's a generic premise with all the identifiable cliches and tropes but to say that it's similar to Infinite Stratos is off the mark. They only shared the LN illustrator, okiura, but that's it. The tropes and cliches can be found in almost any shows and not just IS.
Not saying that this is good but to say that they're exactly the same is kinda wrong.

Also, read the LN.

One thing that bother me the most on this series is that the choice of name for the weapon. It is too damn long for me to care.

I'm still going for a "yes".

Excuse me, just where did IS have mecha? Those failed robo-suits can't possibly stand for some mecha. It's the same as GTA's uniforms, honestly. In other words, there is no mecha in both series, as the thing in IS is a joke. However, all of the characters are flying around in both.

Oh my fucking god. Co-ed school is your objection? Honestly? As long as its happening in school and 100% same type of girls are clinging to the MC, I honestly can't believe you're focusing on such a minority. This just proves that everything is so mainstream nowadays that people don't even know what a wide horizon of set-ups and stories one product can have... it's just sad.

Lol. School competitions. Okay, I'll end this here, as I'm laughing my ass off. Everything is exactly the same when we look at the big picture, what you've named are minorities. My main point is that the industry is so corrupted nowadays, that people like you don't even know what it could have been. An imaginary world. Different characters. More complex story. More thought-out scenes. etc.

Edit: This post was not meant as an insult, more like showing how I was really entertained and amused when I saw that specific reply. I have nothing against anyone, but the industry sure has fallen if the users don't even have a taste of quality and some actual difference.
