Had it been Morita drawing, the main characters would have looked like this.

Here's a small collaboration of those three characters in the actual manga. I think the girl was supposed to be Aya?

I really enjoyed reading this one-shot but now that I've seen Morita's version of the main characters, Obata's designs look just like any of his shounen series' main characters to me. The worst thing is just how young they look, especially Taku-chan!
However, I'm not quite sure if it would have been too sticky for me to read if the style and designs were as realistic as Moritas, so maybe...

Am I allowed to post without an avatar?

I like Obata's style, but for this type of hard-boiled story, Morita's art would have been unquestionably superior.

Well, yes, Morita's characters would fit better for this story, but just because of publishing on the Jump the story was needed of shounen characters, that's why Obata worked the art, he can modify his art style to make it more cartoonized (Bakuman) or more realistic (Death note)

I love both of their arts. But then I think that Obata's style gave more of a punky and flashy outlook for this one shot, for more shounen-ish. But if it was Morita's style of art, it would be more of a senien style. Both of their arts would have perfectly brought out the emotions/expressions of each character especially for the main character. But then my vote goes to Obata.

I love Obata's artstyle, but Morita's artstyle probably would've been preferred for the gritty tone of the story. The men looked more masculine with Morita and thus made them more unique.
