Training arc begins!
- Sasha is so funny, its good to have a lil bit of comedy in these types of shows
- Jean wiping his faith in humanity on Connie was great
- What was that useless ass walk into the mountains for XD why did they do that
- Reiner seems weird to me. As if he doesn't want the other guy to tell Armin and Eren about their past (whoch seems shady)
- The ending song is amazing, honestly as good as the opening is i love the ending more.

**Review of Attack on Titan – Season 1, Episode 3: “Shining Dimly in the Midst of Despair/The Recovery of Mankind Part 1”**

Episode 3 of *Attack on Titan*, “Shining Dimly in the Midst of Despair,” dives deep into character development and the harsh realities of military training. This episode introduces us to a fresh batch of recruits: Thomas, Jean, Marco, Connie, Sasha (the beloved potato girl), Krista, Ymir, Bertolt, and Reiner, each adding their own unique flavor to the story.

One of the highlights is the introduction of Sasha, whose insatiable appetite and comedic antics bring much-needed levity to the intense atmosphere. Her hunger and humorous moments make her an immediate fan favorite, standing out as one of the episode’s brightest characters. On the other hand, Jean’s apparent interest in Mikasa and his generally abrasive attitude create a contrast to the more friendly and kind-hearted characters like Krista. Jean’s interactions with Eren and Mikasa reveal the budding complexities within the group dynamics.

The episode focuses heavily on the grueling training with ODM gear, a crucial skill for fighting Titans. Mikasa’s proficiency with the gear is evident, reinforcing her status as an exceptional soldier. Eren’s struggle with the ODM gear highlights the challenge and danger of the training process. It’s a compelling portrayal of the character’s growth and the hurdles he must overcome.

Bertolt and Reiner’s decision to help Armin assist Eren the night before the aptitude test adds a layer of camaraderie and shows their supportive sides. Their kindness in aiding Eren despite their own concerns for their future is a touching moment that helps to build the camaraderie among the recruits.

The tension of the aptitude test is palpable, with Eren’s initial failure adding to the suspense. The revelation that Eren’s faulty belt was the cause of his fall, followed by his second chance and ultimate success, underscores the harsh but fair nature of the training system.

Overall, Episode 3 does a fantastic job of building character and expanding the world of *Attack on Titan*. The episode is rich in character development, particularly for Eren and his fellow recruits, though it lacks the high-octane action seen in earlier episodes. Sasha stands out as a personal favorite, and the growing bond among the recruits adds depth to the narrative.

Rating: 4/5. This episode excels in character and world-building, offering a deeper understanding of the characters and their motivations. While it might lack intense action, it sets the stage for future developments and remains a strong installment in the series.
