All I could say about the film was it that it was just average, it would have been pointless without the action sequences. Plus the characters didn't even have anything wrapped up for them at the end. The epilogue was rather odd as well and didn't really fit all that well. 5/10 |

dahogla said: Heck, even Big O was better and nobody knows what do with that ending. I thought the point of the ending of Big O was to interpret for yourself what the hell happened in the entire series which was part of its charm, but I can't say the same for this movie. |

I thought the movie flowed very nicely and the ending was gd. But like 5 minutes after watching the movie.. i realised it's true that the movie didn't answer a lot of questions but i guess for a movie it did pretty well trying to catch all the main points. i just wish they showed more fighting for Qan[T] instead of making graham sacrifice himself.. they made the mecha look so cool! but it turned out to be sort of a transporting vessel..? i sort of forgot where season 2 ended off so i was a bit confused by the plot.. can any1 tell me why this mission was deemed as the last mission for celestial being?? why won't there be anymore wars for celestial being to intervene?? i should probably watch the 2 seasons again before watching the movie a second time.. |

I'd just like to point out here in all irrelevence that Unicorn and 00 and seed have different art styles. (unicorn and the other super old gundams moreso) So yeah. Some "young" people like me can't get into the strange art styles in unicorn. *reply to one of the reviews. *as far as I know theres no comments for reviews. |

I'm afraid Gundam 00 may go the way of Macross Frontier, getting milked senseless especially since Setsuna is still alive but fused with ELS DNA so he can never age again. |

Yeah I mostly agree with the guy above. Simply: 1/10 for story. 10/10 for visuals. 6/10. The story was all over the place. They introduced some new characters who had no purpose, brought back lots of recurring characters who had no important role and were just there for the sake of it. The antagonists were cliche and boring. There wasn't a satisfactory ending. Most of the philosophy and meaning in the plot was just repetition of "understanding, peace and pacifism". Overall I'm not impressed. The art and graphics though, were spectacular. |

Feel like the quality could of been better but it was still pretty good. Alien metal with their own consciousness pretty badass and the millions of explosions made me pretty damn giddy with excitement. Pretty much agree with everyone else on this thread. Didn't really care for the story, loved the explosions though. The battles felt pretty dam epic. |

what's the point in making a new character (Descartes Shaman) if he die right away?! in all the trailers, it makes him like the villain but it isn't. And I don't get the ending... so setsuna end up with marina when she is this old? what's about feldt?? I'm imagining the japanese in the theatre watching the ending... The scene I liked the much was when mari and allelujah were escaping the ELS at the desert base |

Okay I am extremely annoyed right now. This had all they hype of being one of the best animovies ever and instead I get...this...this....I don't even have a word for it. Shaman served no purpose and it's a shame since he was actually kind of interesting. I got no FeldtXSetsuna and why the hell did Billy get so much screen time?! So many minor characters had so much screen time, it's crazy. It was aesthetically appealing but they could have done so much better on this movie, it was lacking that extra oomph. Hopefully the DVD will alleviate my pain. That aside the ending looked beautiful and setsuna is now the chuck norris of gundam pilots. Well I'm done, 7/10 for me, should be lower but I'm biased for Gundam in general. |

People raging at the aliens being included sadly missed the point of whole gundam franchise. Sure its composed of many mechas going pew pew. But the main theme has always been lack of communication . Equally right sides with their own bastards and heroes fighting for their own ideals. Its all in lack of communication ) . Gundam00 had a lot of inspiration from both I.Asimov's Foundation series and both AC.Clarke's 1999 and Childhood's End. I am for one happy that this had more than just pew pews, unlike the other gundam series currently being released (*cough*gundampinkexplodingunicorns*cough*) And lol at people who still believed at the possibility of felt having romance with anything but Season1!Lockon. 5/5 |

Derp, I got pretty much what I had expected. SEED faggots will love this train-wreck of a movie; and why wouldn't they? It's 2 hours of robots blasting away at silver darts with obnoxiously large and outrageous lasers, with the occasional LOLpolitical blah blah blah. To anyone complaining about the lack of romance between Feldt and Setsuna, you should know better; Sunrise loves their borderline BL and general homosexuality, not to mention there was only ever SetsunaxGundam. In any case, if I had to say something that this movie did successfully, it would be to have acted as a cash-grab for Sunrise, and that, I applaud. Of course, 1/5 for the movie. I can't even give it points for battle action; it literally was limited only to blasting darts with laser faggotry, followed closely by unnecessary barrel rolls. Oh well, it's only a disappointment if you had expected something good. Also, a little food for thought; Star Trek, Borg. See what I did there?! |

I'm really disappointed, for so many reasons, I can't even list them without going on full rant mode. 1) Such slow plot progression! *pewpew* "oh no, what do we do!?" *pewpew* *angst* *pewpew* *half assed plot point* *space flower* *end* 2) Too much fouus on characters no one gives a crap about. Since when was Billy getting laid relevant to the plot? Why did we waste so much tie on Descartes Shaman, just for him to die like normal fodder? Feldt angsting. It was sweet at first, but then it started to piss me off around angst session #8. the only minor characters I couldn't hate where Patrick and Kati. Bamf couple. 3) Main characters were useless. Setsuna barely did anything, and when he did, it resulted in a space flower. Alle did ok until he started talking about unlocking the future. Lockon = *pewpew*. Tieria, poor dear, he couldn't even hang on to his body for a fifth of the movie, and then was demoted to fairy. I can't even be bothered to go any further right now. |

In the year AD 2314 Celestial Being's CBS Lab Transport traveling through an asteroid field. Linda Vashti is reunited with her husband Ian after her expedition to Jupiter to create two new GN Drives. Ian remarks on the unfinished MS, which is one that Gundam Meister Setsuna F. Seiei had wanted to help people understand each other, the GNT-0000 00 Qan[T]. Meanwhile, Setsuna and Lockon Stratos prepare for a intervention, Allelujah Haptism and Marie Parfacy travel through Euriasia, and a new body is being created by Tieria Erde. Separate from these events, unknown silver beings travel into the Solar System via Jupiter. It comes across a derelict research space station (the station that created the GN Drives) in Jupiter's orbit and assimilated the ship. It then sent the ship to Earth as a vanguard to its forces. Meanwhile, Earth and humanity remained clueless about the imminent threat. After viewing a movie about Celestial Being's exploits over the past seven years, Saji Crossroad drove to a Federation Hospital somewhere in the HRL territory to be at Louise Halevy's side. She had long term medical care due to both the physical changes made by the Innovators and her suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In outer space, Marina Ismail and Shirin Bakhtiar inspected a colony construction facility when their shuttle was taken hostage by a group of terrorists, with three of them piloting GNX-609T GN-XIII and one inside the shuttle. Before they could kill Marina, Setsuna and Lockon (acting on information from Veda/Tieria) arrived to save her. Setsuna intercepted the GN-XIIIs with his Flag Kai to avoid being identified as a member of Celestial Being (CB) and defeated the three assassins. On board the shuttle, the remaining terrorist prepared to kill Marina when Lockon infiltrated the shuttle and disarmed the man with a non-fatal bullet wound. Despite Lockon's shaded space helmet, Shirin recognized Lyle's voice and immediately called him Gene 1; Marina deduced that they were saved by CB. Lockon escaped from the shuttle's airlock and was recovered by Setsuna to return to base. Meanwhile, in order to make up for the heinous acts committed by A-Laws and the falsely-proclaimed Innovators, the Earth Sphere Federation (ESF) establishes a pacifist and peaceful policy to manage the world's problems, one of which by employing the help of the newly emerging Innovators throughout the world. On board Celestial Being, Patrick Colasour meets with his wife, Brigadier General Kati Mannequin as one of the helmsmen aboard the ships shows the couple that they have control of Veda and its Innovades. They also enter a control room, where they meet the world's first officially acknowledged Innovator, Descartes Shaman. The ESF eventually discovered the Jupiter research station heading towards Earth. A group of Volga-class ships tried in vain to destroy the station with missiles along with a team of GNX-803T GN-XIVs led by Andrei Smirnov. Fortunately, Shaman sortied, piloting the mobile armor GNMA-Y0002V Gadelaza, to destroy the incoming threat. Descartes deployed the Gadelaza's numerous fangs and successfully destroyed the ship, but debris from the ship fell to Earth. Not long afterward, Earth's population experienced a series of unusual and unexplained events, such as randomly activating cars, trains, and boats. In an HRL desert, Ikeda and a group of news reporters arrive at a crater being investigateby the ESF, only to witness a military truck move on its own. Elsewhere on Earth, a young girl, Amia Lee, returns home from school, only to find it infected. A man in a spacesuit then emerges from her home and reaches out towards her as she screams. At a ESF research laboratory, Billy Katagiri and his girlfriend Meena Carmine analyze a piece of the silver lifeform, and Meena explains that around the world, people with high QBW latency (the ability to become a Innovator), are being targeted for infection. CB realizes this as well, and Setsuna and Lockon launch towards Earth. In Mongolia, Allelujah and Marie run into a ESF army base, with a piece of debris having struck it. Marie is in shock as she sees a group of people covered in silver crystalline. Suddenly, the couple is attacked by a driverless vehicle as they try to escape the base. Meawhille, at the Federation Hospital in HRL, Saji tends to Louise as she is having a convulsion. Her quantum brainwaves suddenly activate as the power goes out. The helmeted man bursts into Louise's room, but Saji knocked the man down with a chair. The couple leave the hospital, but the helmeted man catches up and tosses Saji aside. As Louise is about to be assimillated, Setsuna fired a shot at the helmet to divert the man's attention, and the man resembled a very much alive Ribbons Almark. Due to the QBW interference from the ELS, Allelujah switches personalities to Hallelujah to manage the mental stress, and to draw away the ELS from Marie. While Marie and Hallelujah are being attacked by a ELS helicopter, Lockon saved the day with GN-002RE Gundam Dynames Repair. Setsuna wondered why Ribbons was there and fires shots that would have killed a normal person, but "Ribbons" absorbed the shots and kept walking towards the trio silently until Setsuna used plastique, which caused "Ribbons" to explode, but left only the bottom half moving until it shattered into metallic fragments. The remains of "Ribbons" only added more depth to the mystery, but there was no time to investigate as Lockon soon picked up Setsuna in Japan before returning to the CBS-74 Ptolemaios 2 Kai. At the ESF laboratory, Billy meets with Kim and ESF Representative Klaus Grad to analyze Amia's half assimilated body. On board the ship, while Mileina happily greets Allelujah and Marie, Feldt tries to talk to Setsuna, but he coldly goes to his room instead. Sumeragi Lee Noriega then talks to Feldt about Setsuna having aliented himself ever since he became a Innovator. Sumeragi tells Feldt to simply tell Setsuna how she feels about him, as it's the best way for people to understand each other. Later, in the briefing room, Allelujah and Marie recount the attack in Mongolia, while Setsuna explains to the crew that he saw Ribbons in Japan. However, Feldt explains that it was a infected Ribbons-type Innovade (Sky Eclipse) who was a crew member on the CB research station. On board Celestial Being, an officer reports to Kati that a unknown MS has left the mothership, and the incubation capsule room is empty. Not long afterwards, the very same Jupiter research station the ESF had previously destroyed reappeared in front of the ship and CB takes the offensive. Setsuna (in GN-0000RE+GNR-010 00 Raiser Condenser Type) sortied along with Lockon (in the GN-010 Gundam Zabanya) and Allelujah paired with Soma (in the GN-011 Gundam Harute) to face the ELS. Problems began to arise when Setsuna is unable to fight the ELS due to QBW interference and Harute's GN Missiles are absorbed by the ELS. Compromised in battle, 00 Raiser's left arm was hit and being assimilated. However, Tieria Erde arrived in his new CB-002 Raphael Gundam. Tieria dispatched his GN Claws/GN Big Cannons to rip out 00 Raiser's infected left MS arm, saving Setsuna. Tieria then secured CB's escape with a display of Raphael's firepower, destroying the space station. Later, Tieria asked Setsuna why he was unable to fight, but all Setsuna can say is that he's unsure of why he couldn't. A black hole had opened up within Jupiter's Big Red Spot, revealing the increased forces of the ELS heading for Earth. As a result, all the people on Earth with quantum brainwaves suffered severe headaches, including Louise, Allelujah, Marie, Setsuna, Descartes, and Amia, who awakened as a Innovator. The black hole then swallowed two of Jupiter's moons, while Feldt revealed that the ELS would arrive at Earth in 92 days. The ESF later devised a plan and intercepted the ELS near Mars in order to discover their intentions. The plan involved using Descartes's QBW attraction as bait to alter the ELS horde trajectory away from Earth. With little options, a full blown battle was engaged between the ELS and ESF. The battle quickly turned sour for the ESF, with many of their Volga-class battleships and GN-XIV's being assimillated, along with Kim's ship being assimilated by a horde of ELS. Descartes blasted the assimilated ships, but came under a ruthless mental attack from the ELS as the Gadelaza's fangs were being assimilated. CB eventually joined the battle, witnessing the assimilation of Descartes and the Gadelaza. Setsuna executed Trans-Am System+Raiser System to create a Trans-Am Burst effect in an attempt to communicate with the ELS. Setsuna believed that the GN Particles would synchronize his mind with those of the ELS as a part of the "dialogues to come" that Aeolia Schenberg prepared humanity for. Unfortunately, Setsuna falls victim to a ruthless mental attack from the ELS and is rendered comatose in the middle of battle. As Setsuna remains unreponsive, the ELS assimilated 00 Raiser. With the sheer amounts of ELS attacking them, Harute, Raphael, and Zabanya were forced to fight back to back to back. To save Setsuna, Tieria Erde broke away from Lockon and Allelujah/Soma and was forced to reveal Raphael Gundam's backpack, GN-008RE Seravee Gundam II while Tieria drew the enemy away from Seravee II with Raphael. Lockon and Allelujah tried to assist, but Tieria declared that he wouldn't let the ELS kill Setsuna. As soon as Seravee II made physical contact with 00 Raiser, the unit's left MS arm was being assimilated. As Seravee II ripped 00 Raiser's cockpit out of the MS frame, Tieria suffered mental stress from making close contact with the ELS through Seravee and Raphael was hit. Before Seravee was lost to the ELS, the unit threw 00 Raiser's cockpit to Zabanya. Zabanya and Harute then retreat back to Ptolemy II Kai using Trans-Am. Tiera was eventually overcomed by the brain attacks and the ELS horde begun to assimilate and encircle the Raphael as a sphere. Tieria activated the immobile Raphael's Trans-Am before his eventual demise to blast as many ELS as possible. However, the surviving ELS used the explosion as a boost to catch up on the escaping Zabanya carrying Setsuna. Allelujah diverted the ELS away from Lockon, but it wasn't enough. As Zabanya was about to be struck by an ELS, The Solbraves, led by Graham Aker, arrived at the crucial moment and held off the ELS. The Solbraves covered Ptolemy II Kai's escape as Zabanya and Harute both retreated. Tieria's conscious mind returns to Veda and Feldt desperately awaits at Setsuna's side to awaken. After the battle, CB and the ESF group together to go over the present situation. Graham arrives on board the Ptolemy and talks with Feldt outside of the ICU where Setsuna rests as Ptolemy II Kai detaches its boosters while traveling in Trans-Am. While Ian and Linda delivered the 00 Qan[T] to Ptolemy II Kai for Setsuna, the ESF orders all civilians to evacuate into underground shelters. On Earth, Saji tells Louise that he's going into space to help fight the ELS. The ESF launches a counterattack against the ELS using the Celestial Being, which was designed as humanity's safe haven in the event of an hostile alien encounter. Celestial Being fires its main cannon, which blasts a massive hole in the ELS superstructure, though it soon recovers. While in combat, Patrick sees that the ELLs are shapeshifting into GN-XIV's. During this time, Tieria makes a request to Ian Vashti that a miniature Veda terminal be installed in the cockpit of 00 Qan[T] to handle the massive amounts of information that would result from linking with the ELS again, also revealing that the three core components to Aeolia's original plan were the GN Drive, Veda, and Innovators. It was also the moment that Mileina Vashti tells Tieria that she will love him no matter what form he takes. While Ian is flabbergasted at the announcement, Linda is overjoyed with Mileina's decision. Kati orders a second shot to be fired at the ELS planet, but the shot is deflected as the Solbraves arrive at the battlefield. They witness the ELS assimilating many Volga-class battleships and immediately turning them into ELS. Zabanya and Harute then arrived to assist the ESF in battle. Zabanya utilized its many GN Rifle Bits and GN Holster Bits to destroy the ELS en masse, while Allelujah and Hallelujah combined once again, enhancing the performance of the Harute through the Marute System. Despite the much needed backup, the ELS still overwhelms CB and the ESF. Andrei notices an ELS carrier heading for Earth and damages it, though his GN-XIV is partially assimilated in the process. With no options left, Andrei then kamikazes into another ELS carrier as he sees his parents for the last time. On board Ptolemaios 2 Kai, Setsuna senses Andrei's sacrifice as he enters a dream state. There, he has visions of his past, including the death of his parents, his saving of Rasa Massoud Rachmadi, and then sees Marina and Shirin giving aid to people in Azadistan, Saji on a space colony, Lockon, Allelujah, and Marie fighting off the ELS, the Ptolemy crew, and then he sees the first Lockon, Christina Sierra, and Lichtendahl Tsery telling him that the world needs him and that he has to change. Setsuna then sees the flower that Feldt gave him before The Battle of L2 and finally wakes up, finding Feldt at his side. After Setsuna fully recovered, he, as well as the holographic Tieria sorties in the new GNT-0000 00 Qan[T] for battle, while Feldt returns to the bridge. When asked by Lasse why she didn't go with Setsuna, she responds that Setsuna has a much greater destiny awaiting him. In the chaos of battle, Patrick Colasour's GN-XIV is hit by an ELS and is slowly assimilated. Patrick says his goodbyes to his wife, Kati Mannequin, when 00 Qan[T] blasts Patrick's GNX, saving him from assimilation and defying death once again. Setsuna uses the Sword Bits to create a GN Field when the ELS start attacking him. Graham in his Brave and the remaining members of the Sol Brave Squadron backs up Setsuna while Lockon, Allelujah, and the other pilots defend Earth from the ELS. Setsuna attempts to communicate with the ELS via the Twin Drive’s quantum effect, but it is to no avail as the ELS constantly thwart Setsuna's attempts. Despite both the Ptolemaios 2 Kai and Celestial Being undergoing assimilation, Kati and Sumeragi tell their forces to believe in Setsuna. Even though Tieria tells Setsuna that Trans-Am is needed for the dialogues, Setsuna activates the system to fire a large beam to cleave the ELS core into half. The ELS ship starts to pull it's surface plates together and has seemingly recovered . Graham Aker, now partially assimilated, decides to believe in a better future for humanity and kamikazes into the mothership while overloading his Trans-Am to create a hole large enough for Setsuna to pass through. Once there, Setsuna activates the Quantum System to connect to the core of the ELS ship. After Setsuna established contact, it was quickly realized that the attack was nothing more than a misunderstanding: The ELS reacted violently when they encountered humans with QBWs and assimilation was their only means to understand humanity. It was also revealed that the ELS' original homeworld had been consumed by a red dwarf sun and they began searching the universe for a new home. Along the way they reformed various planets and eventually found a new home, eventually setting out into the vast reaches of space to explore the vast universe. Setsuna and Tieria realize the misunderstanding as Setsuna quantizes with the 00 Qan[T] to the ELS homeworld. Afterwards, the fighting stops and everyone sees that the ELS are headed back to their planet and the assimilation ceasing. The world then witnesses the ELS change the superstructure of the planet into a large desert flower taken from Setsuna's dream, signifying the end of hostilities. During the post-credits, a brief flashback to A.D. 2091 shows a much younger Aeolia Schenberg speaking of his great plan to a person that resembles Ribbons, commenting that humanity must unite if they hope to have any chance of reaching the future. Fifty years after Setsuna's disappearance, the flower in space is now a deep space station for intergalactic travel. A ship named after Sumeragi is being prepped for travel along with multiple Sakibure mobile suits, being crewed by Innovators (including the partially assimilated girl who is partially healed along with a Tieria-type Innovade) and led by Klaus Grado. By this point, over 40% of humanity has undergone Innovation, and the group will be sent out to deep space to explore new worlds with their longer life span while the rest of humanity innovates. In a undisclosed countryside, a blind and much older Marina listens to the announcement on TV. While she is playing the piano, she senses someone entering. That person is none other than Setsuna, with a metallic body and eyes glowing, fulfilling his promise to see each other once more. The two embrace and say that they could fnally understand each other. Outside an upgraded and winged 00 Qan[T] kneels and becomes covered in flowers, emitting GN Particles in an angelic fashion. Ignoring the ELS though, this is quite a departure from ANY OTHER Gundam because there is now talk of exploring other galaxies ala Macross, not just making space colonies within the Solar System. |

Disappointing movie. Was hoping it would be better than it what it turned out to be. At most it's a 7.5 out 10 but it's more of a 6.5. Had more enjoyment watching Trigun: Badlands Rumble movie than this. Now that movie left me with a smile. |

Instead of writing my own thoughts on Trailblazer, I'll simply link to Divine's review over at Random Curiosity. It's a good read and I completely agree with his/her opinion of the movie. |

- loved the spoof-movie in the beginning. Really clever way of parodying mecha genre. - Love how tey incorporated advanced humans stuff with innovators. - The start of alien presence, earth technology going off, was breathtaking yet calm. NO over the top omgs and it escalated nicely. - Love how every even minor character got a role and importance. - Creepy alien ribbons and continuous a.c.clarke and i.asimov references. - Setsuna's bowman-ish slow separation from humanity is surprisingly handled very well. - Another reference to A.C.Clarke's Space Odyssey trilogy with jupiter event. - Tieria's sacrifice = epicnss. - GRAHAM! - Aliens remind me a lot of gaunas from Knights of Sidonia manga by Nihei. - When I think about it, 00 always had great OST, but this movie surpassed it in epicness. - Setsuna's mind drift reminded me a ot of Bowman's little scenes in the chamber. - Patrick the immortal Cola. XD - Setsuna's Quantum travel to els homeworld remined me both of universal migrator concept from ayreon albums and Bowman's travels. from space odyssey. - ELS evolution flashback reminds me a lot of A.C.Clarke's works. - Wormhole travel :3 - Setsuna's embodiment of peace, flower, being transm, itted through els wa sa view to see. - Epilogue start with aeolia flashback, reminded me a lot of Foundation and how it was set up by a foresight of one man. Especially the idea of mistreated knowledge causing self-destruction. - Setsuna being similar to ELS in the end. Did tha tcome as sort of their fusion or is becoming itno that form is the next step of innovator evolution? That is left up to the viewers. DuroDeMatar said: Yeah, I would like something else or with more explanation too... I lost track of some things in the movie, but still pretty good :P Actually the ending is self-explanatory for those who have already read/know about the novels Setsuna is "David Bowman", an anime equivalent of "space child" created by the long-term plan of Aeolia's "Foundations". While overall plan had a lot to do with kickstarting negotiations and talks between alien lifeform and humanity, Setsuna also is the proof. Its not important on what he became in the end. Maybe a god, maybe something above humanity, maybe universe. The point is he became. Just like majority of humanity advanced the leaps of evolution stagnated by conflicts and constant route of self-destruction of civilizations. Many people had similar problems with the last episode of casshern sins - a lot of things were left up to the interpretation of the viewer. IMO, thats for better than to try to needlessly explain every detail, destroying the magic that detail has. Some things are always better left unsaid, fo leave for viewers to figure out. The ending weas perfect IMO. One can interpret that in many ways. Was it the final moments of marina's life? Is setsuna alive in a sense humanity understands life? After all even in the end of second season, setsuna already had the controlof space and time itself and it only progressed(especially space aspect). What amazes me is that all of what he did is within the laws of quantum physics our universe functions by Ac.C.Clarke's Childhood's End explored very interesting ideas of humanity's future and troubles of the contact between you and alien civilization(S). It managed to explore human preconceptions, fear of death and the eventual uselessness of physical self in very interesting and sorrowful ways. I.Asimov's Foundation series explored and played around a lot of ideas that we have seen in gundam 00. Long-term goals, controlling society to achieve certain goals, those who do that being manipulated by a man long since dead, the value of knowledge in face of peril of war, changes, etc. A.C. Clarke's Space Odyssey trilogy is also important. The contact with alien life, focus on human advancement and evolution, its all there. The end scene with quan(t) in flowers embodied the idea - a machine, overpowered machine used for war, enforcing peace, even for preserving peace, making people understand each other, is no longer needed and has fulfilled its purposes . Humanity and the world is way beyond the need of that. entropy13 said: Ignoring the ELS though, this is quite a departure from ANY OTHER Gundam because there is now talk of exploring other galaxies ala Macross, not just making space colonies within the Solar System. deep space exploration has beeen the pinnacle of science ficiton for years even before the scifi genre existed. Shippers fucking everywhere. Setsuna should be with Gundam, while being Gundam - no one else. Marina is more of a mother figure and Feldt's love seems to be completely one sided. |

What the fuck did I just watch? No, really. What the fuck was that shit? It was pretty as expected but that plot line was like something a hippie shat out alongside a violent stream of diarrhea. I'm mad. |

What the hell man. I loved Gundam 00 but this alien angle took a WEIRD turn for the bad. PLUS: I get the whole tieing in the 'understanding' theme, and the fact that they had to explain WHY inervators(sp) were even in the second season in the first place apart from extending the plot aka money making. Love seeing all the characters after so long, especially soldier dofus who can never die. The part where the cars are attacking Halleluljah was surprisingly entertaining as well. And..for some weird reason I like how they tied in Setsuna's flower of peace thing..except it was all so weird at that point i felt confused as the credits rolled. I like Setsuna because he's a martyr/conflicted type character that you want to see be finally healed. MINUS: Marina. She is the most useless character, although necessary, because SOMEONE has to rant on about the peaceful solution. The hug at the end made me rage because the pairings seemed so promising with Feldt and Setsuna. (REALLY? a weird epilogue with a metal setsuna and an old bag. I GET IT that they wanted to show man kind 'evolved' with all the innovators, but 50 FRIGGEN YEARS LATER?? please show us that AFTER we see the cast get their endings. No gundam meister, no setsuna and feldt, ((or even Milena and Tiera (lol that was funny with her dads reaction, not gonna lie.)) ALL IN ALL: It was a disappointment for me, as I'm a huge fan of the first two seasons. I can even vouch that the alien thing isn't what killed it for me, it was how they delivered it. Maybe a better epilogue was all that it had to take. At the end I wasn't feeling the friend bond between the gundam meisters, much less, from Tiera between Setsuna, that was prevalent through the original episodes. 6.8/10 is generous. I want to rate it higher, believe me, but the guilt would linger. |

Considering its normal step of human existance, when reflecting on what we did in our planet, its not so surprising. And thus macross reference is baseless. I agree with this. As a rather hardcore SF reader, I would agree that this series did have some good ideas behind it. Obviously, the "realistic" aspect of the series is not as elaborate as that of UC in terms of character development and plot. However, let me tell you this: SF series' biggest asset is NOT necessarily the plot or the characters. If it has great plot, great. If it has great character development, great. They are bonuses. HOWEVER, it's the IDEOLOGICAL aspect of SF that I think is the most distinguishable component that separates it from other genre of literature. Some of you may think this idea of "understanding" is shallow or childish, but keep in mind that what is defined as "childish" and "shallow" can be completely subjective. For instance, from my definition of SF, Star Wars would be borderline non-SF but more fantasy. It may have great plot or characters, but it lacks in terms of ideological aspect. Is this movie good then? As a SF series, it has some merits. However, I would say Universal Century is MUCH more elaborate than this. Other than that, I don't think it deserves all this hating.... No matter how the movie sucked in the plot and character department, I think it provided a nice ending (slightly half-assed) to the 00 franchise. I didn't say Gundam 00 franchise but 00 franchise simply because you can't really compare this with other Gundam series. Could it have been better? YES. How? By more elaborate plot and suspense and more complicated SF element and less laser-spamming. But then again, people found this to be boring already. Then the alternative would be even more boring.... Overall, 9/10. I'm still impressed by the laser-spamming. |

They should've cut out some of the crap in the beginning/middle, and added 20 minutes to the epilogue. Feels like they made it too long, and just cut the ending so they could have a theatrical release. But overall, it was a good movie, the ending tied together well imo (except for the sunken ship of setsuna x feldt). I'm hoping for a longer version. |

I lost track of some things in the movie, but still pretty good :P Actually the ending is self-explanatory for those who have already read/know about the novels I didn´t know that there were novels, are them in english? not gundam novels. Scifi novels which inspired gundam00, First season is heavily inspired by Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, while second season and movie draws heavilly upon both A.C.Clarke's Space Odyssey trilogy and A.C.Clarke's "Childhood's End" novel. Aesthetics, designs, etc, all of that I could see appearing in their works. Foundation series is alla bout one man's vision for the future, he predicted. It focuses on his "creation" closed secret organisation known as "Foundation", its tries to manipulate and stabilize the formation of new government and the mysterious "Seldon Plan". A.C.Clarke's Space Odyssey series mainly deals with David Bowman and what happens to him, but focuses on evolution and possibilities of humanity, with Bowman literally embodying the pinnacle of human life.. Jupiter is a huge focus there. Not to mentionthe ideas and plotlines, Aliens coming out from Jupiter's "eye" is the most direct reference to these novels. The third is A.C.Clarke's Childhood's End novel(referenced in very first movie trailer with "Humanity's childhood has come to an end" line) , which deals with alien appearance, struggle with communication and trust(aliens even refuse to reveal their looks till some hundred year into future when humanity has shed away their religious preferences enough to not label them demons). Second, it deals with the appearance of "gifted" children in earth's population(something of common theme around the works about human potential), while whole novel somehow sets up tension between aliens nad humanity, in the end their goal is revealed to be completely benevolent, although that leads to a very sorrowful, unhappy and sad ending. So in a sense while this movie ha d alot to do with this exact novel, the ending more closely resembles the ideas of Space Odyssey than that of Childhood's End. |

okay so so far the only ones saying something bad about this movie are setsuna-x-felt(ever heard of one-sided love, folks?) shippers(who, unsurprisingly also have stuff like "gundam" seed rated as 10/10). Felt's first and true love obviously was s1-lockon. What was shown as her feelings for setsuna was clearly shown as affection and attraction. There was no "epic love", she was just attracted to the guy. Something people usually get over. Marina and setsuna have been set up as this platonic love relationship since season1. Two people , two different people reaching for same thing in different ways. Both Marina and Setsuna have been strong characters with their weaknesses and its nice to see them each learn something in their life. It only makes sense that they came to an understanding in the end. Not every series needs to end with childish riding into sunset or a wedding type romance. Its nice to see relationship handled in more mature way. |
