In my humble to goodness opinion, through heaven and earth Kurumi Tokisaki is the only honoured waifu.
Any of these waifu are good IMO: Kurumi, Misaka Mikoto, Miku Nakano, Nino Nakano, Yuki, Marin Kitagawa…

nino based (character limit)

@BETTY_ "Violet Evergarden is overall a story about regret, purpose, and empathy" "many people can relate to the feeling of missing a partner, whether they've passed away or are simply an ex" the same could literally be said about Frieren

You're not wrong, but especially about the empathy part I do not agree that Frieren focuses much on that. It clearly focuses more on your connections to people rather than dealing with the feelings of others. HOWEVER you also ignored my main point which is that Violet Evergarden is a more intimate story which is the primary reason that Violet is considered a better character.

honestly, i hate that
i hate when people are just shortsighted to see female characters like frieren and violet as the greatest when there exist so many others, although it shouldn't come as a surprise that at the end of the day that title is yours to decide

but back on topic, violet is a lot more emotional in a way, mostly because it takes from war experiences (arguably realistic) while frieren takes from fantasy, which is why i'd believe people would prefer violet over fireren; if frieren's life was more miserable, she would probably have been considered a better character, even if it was pure shock horror, elitists love a grim story over actual content

now my personal opinion that absolutely no one asked for; i dislike both shows, and as such, it's only natural that i prefer the one that i dislike the least, which in this case would be frieren, but that would be shortsighted, so i have to actually craft arguments as to why i prefer the other; otherwise, i'd be a hypocrite, so making it extremely short, violet just feels a lot more forced, frieren has the advantage of more episodes and therefore more screen time lenght which makes it easier for you to feel attached to her, she's also not like violet in the sense that her life is a lot more neutral in comparasing to violet's remarkable war background, which in my opinion, actually makes frieren easier to relate to and enjoy as a character.

this is by no means meant to downplay violet, it's just that frieren, despite taking from fantasy, feels a lot more real, in the way that if you were an elf with such a long lifespan and experienced so many generations, you wouldn't feel constant pain and torment, but rather a sense of numbness, a sense of neutrality, which i think ends up being a breath of fresh air, that's another reason as to why i prefer her
